paul that's strange, overclocked CPU ? or what's your CPU/GPU setup ?
paul that's strange, overclocked CPU ? or what's your CPU/GPU setup ?
Everything is at factory clocks. OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit (running in Xp compatibility mode though because of earlier advice) GPU: GTX 480 (1,5GB VRAM, I've set the config to use 950MB just to be sure) CPU: Intel i7 920 RAM: 6GB DDR3 @ 1600MHz Personally, I don't think it's related to hardware.
As someone who is going to double major in astronomy and astrophysics, this gives me a boner of epic proportions.
why you running it in XP mode ?
Some guy earlier in the thread said it fixed his problems. I'll try running it without now.
God dammit, why does it always miss by a couple of million kilometers when I press "G" to go to a planet? [editline]15th April 2011[/editline] It's pissing me off
It only seems to do that for me if the planet/star is in another galaxy then the milky way.
It only seems to do that for me if the planet/star is in another galaxy then the milky way.
Oh, you're right. I'll stick to the milky way for now then. Well this problem still needs to be fixed. [editline]15th April 2011[/editline] Now, it still crashes at random. In XP compatibilty mode, the crashes are a bit less frequent. (Every 30'th second instead of every 15'th second)

I've entered my exact amount of VRAM now, and enabled Vsync. Though, I'll go to bed now and continue trying tomorrow.
Fly a few hundred megaparsecs out of the Milky Way. Select earth. Go to. Get there. Empty space. NO! HUMANITY, WHAT HAVE YOU DONE!?
Found a Terra in a binary system, look how mean one of the binary stars looks
I was in aircraft mode flying over a desert planet. There was no atmosphere. The sky was black. Ask I skimmed over the surface I could see myself reflected in the sky from my laptop's monitor, gazing down at the dunes. I WAS A GOD.
Look even MEANER UP CLOSE ( Lum. = 0.002, would take 500 of the star to have the same brightness as our sun )
This would be way more fun if it wasn't so FUCKING TEMPERAMENTAL. I keep getting this loading issue. I zoom up to a procedural planet and it starts loading shit VERY SLOWLY. My FPS drops to 1.5 or so and it it starts going through the cloud files x 1_0_0 etc. at a rate of like one every 2 seconds. Any idea what's wrong? [editline]14th April 2011[/editline] ARRAKIS, DUNE, DESERT PLANET loaded just fine. So did Earth. Neptune crashed my display driver.
Some guy earlier in the thread said it fixed his problems. I'll try running it without now.
interesting, which problem the crashing? also i think with the 1.5GB VRAM you may try use e.g. 1400 or so ...
I guess this game would be a good way to test out my new 8gb of ram and my overclocked to hell Phenom II X4 955. Just put it in and am very interested in the results.

Exposure 2.0 so it's better visible, Bloom 0.3 sadly it seems the engine supports only 1 corona type (uses texture 3 times (in x,y,z axis) to map it on center of the star) now i wonder if it can support animated picture or else ... [img_thumb]http://img27.imageshack.us/img27/8927/spaceengineexe0055112.jpg[/img_thumb] and different angle [img_thumb]http://img88.imageshack.us/img88/2046/spaceengineexe0055039.jpg[/img_thumb] p.s. if you have crashes near planet or asteroids goto main.cfg and try change r_BugMipmaps to true
-Find first life bearing planet -Crash :downsbravo:
Hey so the 955 runs the game and doesn't crash at all, but then I ran out of all 8GB of ram and the game crashed. So this game has a memory leak.
I still haven't found a single life bearing planet hahahaha [editline]15th April 2011[/editline] also, good song to listen to while exploring the universe

No, I'm alright. [editline]15th April 2011[/editline]
please try that star with my improved corona :) it might offer some nice shots from surface or nearby
I'll do just fine with the game's images.
There seems to be a problem with my Space Engine. It doesn't draw the rings of the planets with rings but it does draw the shadows of the rings.
I found VV Cephei A (second largest known star), and it's nice... but I haven't been able to find VY Canis Majoris (the largest known star), has anyone been able to find it? Here's a list of known large stars for reference: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_largest_known_stars
I love how I can go to every star in this screenshot. Anyone think I can run it with ATI 4870, 2.4Ghz intel core 2 duo, and 4GB RAM?
You probably can. Just give it a try, it's free.
Crash on startup :frown: Tried tweaking, like turning off anisotropylevel, lower resolution, running in xp mode. Ah well, I'll just admire the screenshots instead.
