Anyone think I can run it with ATI 4870, 2.4Ghz intel core 2 duo, and 4GB RAM?
Yes I ran it just fine with a 9800GTX+, 4gb of DDR2, and A Q6600. So you should have no problem with it.
However even with my new 8gb DDR3, and Phenom 955 I still get "Out of Memory" Errors. I think there is a memory leak.
The developer should seriously consider learning English, or getting a professional translator or something, this has the potential to get really popular.
Also why for the love of fuck would he host the game on an unbearably slow and fishy russian file hosting service.

Well, this would probably be considered a gem of the Internets diamond mine, wouldn't it?

To find Canis Majoris, hit F3 and search for [del]HD 58061[/del] HIP 35793.
That is not VY Canis Majoris. that is only 0.942AU in diameter. VY Canis Majoris is 8.4–9.8AU in diameter.

There have been a few mirrors posted on here that already have both versions combined. Just go to this post and grab it from there...

And all of those stars are a part of a star cluster, which again is just a tiny part of a galaxy, which again will just look like a tiny dot when you zoom even farther out. :buddy:

And, if this game represented the universe at its fullest, would be one of thousands upon thousands of billions of them.

Oh, yeah, forgot to mention that there's insanely many galaxies as well.

That's just awesome!
The Universe has crashed, blame the communists.
Are there any torrent links for this? I feel it would be easier if downloaded that way.
I can't wait for a new version with the memory leak fix because this one is obviously a memory leak (or if it's what I suspect, more of a memory overflow).
Dean i would say both, first there is memory leak
and then there is memory or I/O (read/write on the cache) overflow ...
you can easily try it yourself in globular clusters (stars or galaxies)
if you move too fast to the center as the density and amount of calculation the program does
then chance of crash or freeze exponecially rises
if you move slower and slower, it will not crash in most cases ...
ofc when I increased the density of matter in universe 1000 times
then it started crash QUITE often :)
p.s. i even tried some tricks like flagging the application as LAA (Large Address Aware bit)
it's bit more stable / fluid but only bit (could be placebo effect)
it would be way nicer if the author compiled the application by default with LAA so it can use at least 4GB directly on 64bit OS
I'm amazed my computer can run this so fluidly. I was wondering though how I can extract some more detail on the surfaces of my planets.

How would I flag is as LAA? that'd keep a few crashes at bay.

8.4 to 9.8 AU in diameter... Jesus Christ that's big...
Sun to Earth. 1 AU. Times 8 or 9... Mind Blown
I just did some "comprehensive" testing and I've come to a conclusion.
With 4GB RAM, a Phenom II X4 (Black edition) at 3.2ghz and a PowerColour 5870, the closest you can get to the center of the milky way is 728 parsecs, no matter what speed you move at.
I can get to the center of it just fine, with a near same rig, Only a 5750. Though I do turn Motion Blur off, which helps big time
for some reason i miss these so far:
- comets (while i can force some to appear manually, they show no trailing dust tails etc. so nothing awesome)
- asteroids / asteroid belts (not dust rings)
in total the engine has problem with more than several hundreds orbiting bodies
example:
1k comets and 1k asteroids in sol system = crawl fps
compared to Celestia with 100k to million = not so crawl
then i missing :
- animated star surface (fuilds, eruptions etc.)
- better way how represent corona (even multiple textures would do a lot) or animated way
- more star flare textures otherwise it's feature to be disabled soon
- volcanos ? lava on planets ? (close asteroid, planetoids, planets to star especially)
- incorrect planetary type rendering, e.g. warm ocean planet == barren ?
After I set my VRAM to 4095 it's smooth as hell, but the memory leak still causes it to crash occasionally.
Look what i've found

What the hell is this?
unfinished galaxy model or it's supposed to represent hot gas which missed black hole
which reminds me ...
where are black holes and neutron stars :)

There are no black holes that i've found, but there are defiantly neutron starts, i found one with an rotational period of 36 seconds.
Search PSR B1620-26 for one!

No wait, VY Canis Majoris is 18.288AU in diameter.

Anyone else that crash on launch, but fixed it somehow? Tell me your secrets :v:
