Going 2.1 kilo parsec per second seems to crash the game.
Weird.
I can go up to 100 mega parsec per second right through the center of the universum without crashing.
edit:
Ohh... the new release does seem to crash a lot more. they need to fix the crashing.
I just found a planet with life orbiting a rouge red giant outside the milky way with 10 friggin' moons!

since i lovered the chance of lifelike planet i have yet to found one :) ... it's pretty rare challenge now
lot of planets have potencial (sadly there is no usable detailed data to measure terraform or colonization potencial)
I tried d/ling 9.0 from the site but it gave me a 404.
Here's the official torrent for 0.93, if anyone is interested:

Getting just under 1MB/s :)

Well, I'm sold.
Soo, does anyone know why 0.93 crashes so much?
it's simple disable the procedural craters or mipmaps or change size of VRAM / caches
main.cfg
// turn off problem functionality
r_BugClipping false // distant galaxies clipping
r_BugCraters false //true // procedural craters bug on ATI
r_BugMipmaps true //true // mipmap generation bug on ATI
this solves for me 95% of crashes (but for some helped other way etc.)
all i crash myself now are "my own experimental or uber galaxies" and rarely flying at max speed thru cluster of narrow galaxies (e.g. 3 and each calculating at once stars + clusters + nebulaes)
if you crash on approach to cores of single galaxy just lower rendering of stars and galaxies magnitude from 7 to 6 or 5 ... that will decrease amount of objects calculated and rendered
What do you use to fly around with?
Or is it just a "camera" that moves around.
What do you use to fly around with?

It's just a camera, but it can simulate a spacecraft or an aircraft on planets (apparently, I haven't actually tried this yet).
@Dwarden: My drivers always crash when a whole bunch of planets/moons turn from glowing dots into actual 3D objects. Is that what those settings solve?
that would be either mimpas or craters generation i had same problem, in my case it were mipmaps ...
craters ceased to be problem after 0.90
mipmaps are problem, when i set it to false i get start very soon on star system generations
What do you use to fly around with?

there are 3 ways how move camera, freeroam, spacecraft and aircraft
technically this is no game per say (except exploring new ways for good shot or video)
but it's fully working engine and if the bugs are ironed out and suppot for procedural comets, asteroids, rings, lavafields, star eruptions, gas clouds and dust clouds (especially these because they really cast shadow even in our own galaxy) etc. is added then it will become awesome as
base for any type of space game (trade, exploration, conquer, rts, sim, tbs etc.)
Spacecraft and aircraft are good enough.
Don't need no model for no bitching spacecraft.
My chair is my spacecraft.
OUT OF TEXTURE MEMORY!
i'm crashing too random and w/o anything logged ... engine needs better error messages :)
btw. is anyone able in 0.93 select Nebulae cause i can't ...
How well is the developers English? I really need to ask them a few things.
Space Engine V2 - spaceengine.exe has stopped working and needs to close.
To anyone who keeps getting crashing problems, try manually setting your vram in the main.cfg in the config folder, mine was set to 512mb even though my card has 1024, I can go to the center of galaxies without the game crashing now, also it has a default max setting of 75% of whatever it assumes you have, you can change that as well . It has an auto correct feature for vram but it doesn't seem to work by the looks of it
Planet surfaces look sexy as fuck after that recent patch:

So nice, downloading the game now. 20 minutes to go.

WTFFFFF
Is that 0.93?
Yeah, in the options menu theres a Planet LOD feature, just drag the bar to -3 and it'll look like that on most planets.
Is it possible to get AA working on this? I can't seem to figure out how.
Is it possible to get AA working on this? I can't seem to figure out how.
Just force AA on your video card setting.

Force it from your GPU control panel?
:ninja:
'nother picture. Near a globular cluster close to the center of the Milky Way.

Would have looked nicer if I turned AA on, but my computer would have exploded if I did.
There is now an English version of the website

the VRAM settings may help these who get them too often to get less tho
but not everyone i still get crash here and there randomly
the value don't matter (i tried for fur use 2047 on 1GB card and it not care) the % aswell (tried assign more than is available etc.) ...
the dynamic VRAM measuring code is broken completely and calculating wrong values ...
it could be problem with AMD drivers or big VRAM cards (1, 2, 4GB ones)
there is simply some other issue which causes crashes
also people need realize this is not Game at all ... it's engine, tech-demostrator :)
yet it has it's own beauty already :) (like any space stuff haha)
@shotacon, question do you have enabled or disabled mipmaps generation (what GPU you use?)
I somehow managed to break my space engine and all the procedural generation of the surface of stars, planets etc is overscaled, here's a star for example:

One of mine just looked like that, too.

I think certain stars are supposed to look like that.
