There needs to be an option for night lights on a planet. That would be cool.

For Earth, maybe. But I don't think it would work well for other planets.

Random Planets with Life could have some lights. Make a very low chance for it, but still possible. it will make you feel ever more accomplished with find a planet with life, since you found one with intelligent life.
You guys really should register on the EN site.
There should be orbiting satellites like in Celestia! :science:
Can someone tell me a little more in-depth features description?
I wanna know if I can actually change things to make bad things happen.. heh.

There aren't any planet physics. You can only look around, edit stuff, etc.
literally almost gave myself a panic attack when i zoomed in on a star for the first time. i have an irrational fear of Really Big Things and space is the Biggest Thing. There needs to be little ship models we can fly around in third person with to get a real sense of scale.
Are there black holes in this? I found a neutron star but going through the list of black holes on wiki none of them seem to be ingame...
.94 is coming soon, guys.
Hi! Here some information of changes that I made in SpaceEngine. I will upload the new version nearly June, 10.
Changes and additions:
Triple and multiple stars
Procedural planets around barycenters of multiple stars (i.e. planets orbiting two suns simultaneously)
Changes in the naming rules of procedural stars, planets and moons
Changes in the Solar system browser
Localization to Russian and possibility of localization to other languages
Fonts with different-width characters
A description of stars spectral classes
Various interface changes
The possibility of inversion of the mouse
Removed the prefix notation in the configuration files
The new stars motion blur mode: only when moving
Calculation of the density and pressure of the planetary atmospheres
Calculation of the greenhouse effect on the planets
Improved stars colors
Bug fixes:
Eliminated the main cause of crashes (wrong calculation of used memory)
Fixed memory overrun due to the use of textures with a non-power-of-two resolution
Reduced the minimum distance to the galaxy twere generating of procedural stars begins
Reduced excessive density of stars in small galaxies
Fixed bug with writing extra spaces in the coordinates in the user config
Fixed bug with nebulae selecting
Fixed incorrect brightness of the nebula in Auto exposure mode
Fixed incorrect reading of the scripts with Linux-style end of line
Fixed slowdown with catalogs of thousands of asteroids and comets in solar system
Fixed a bug with the Bloom effect affection on the interface
Fixed displaying information about the number of planets around star
Fixed incorrect drawing of a marker of barycenter
Fixed cloud density on dry terra planets
Fixed display of Greek abbreviations instead of the Greek characters in the autopilot journal and locations dialog
Fixed flashing on the planets with atmosphere if sun comes into view field
Fixed incorrect determination of the temperature class of the planet while creating the system
Fixed bug with choosing of wrong body in the Solar system browser if there are several bodies with the same name present in catalog
Fixed a line break and reset of the register of font in table cells
Eliminated changing the direction of flight when switching between Spacecraft and Aircraft modes
Reduced z-fighting on the red giants models
Fixed bug with incorrect removing of duplicate stars in the script (text) stars catalog
This list will be appended later. Work in progress
No more crashes! :buddy:
.94 is coming soon, guys.
No more crashes! :buddy:
Wooo! I kept putting off exploring new galaxies because it would crash when approaching with procedural stars turned on. Can't wait to explore now! Hope this fixes it! :woop:
Where is this blog again?
Awesome, can't wait!
Excited, I love this program.
I can't wait to find a planet orbiting a trinary star system. :3:
It'll probably be hot as all hell, though.
Oh god yes! No more crashes.
This thing crashes like crazy, but It's so amazing.

If the post before it is an hour or older it won't merge.
When will 0.94 release? A couple of days?
[editline]30th May 2011[/editline]
Nevermind, just read what the creator wrote.
June 10 or so.
At first I thought this only simulated the milky way galaxy. When I zoomed out to see the whole galaxy, for a moment I thought the things around were left over stars. But then my physic mind turn on and said it is other galaxies. This is AMAZING!
Makes you wish we had the technology to fly from galaxy to galaxy as fast as this does. Imagine the possibilities if it was possible!

The creator is planning to make procedural galaxies. :allears:
erm there are already procedural galaxies e.g. the type E ones ...
unless they some fixed fc atm

There aren't any procedural galaxies yet. Those are tiny stellar clusters. He's planning to add full sized ones in the future.

I'm almost certain I've seen other galaxies in there with the same spiral shape as the Milky Way.
I've been so busy looking at planets/moons I forgot about all the other Space phenomenon.
This life bearing moon I found, its Orbital period is exactly the same as its rotational period, right down to the millisecond
Fuck yeah, tidal locking.
I'm almost certain I've seen other galaxies in there with the same spiral shape as the Milky Way.
Its because he hasn't made unique models for some of them, he just reused the Milky Way shape.
There aren't any procedural galaxies yet. Those are tiny stellar clusters. He's planning to add full sized ones in the future.
i can define various dynamic galaxies, so i think it's possible already :)
depends what you consider procedural galaxy
definitely it's not like i can define just some seed
atm.
1.either only params in case of type E galaxies and similar
2. then params + textures from which the 3D shape and density can be defined for visual types (like Milky Way and several others)
yet the calculation seems to be procedural for these too
anyway i was able even create own galaxy sized as cluster of galaxies (tho that was more error than success)
Error loading surface generator shaders.
And then it crashes.
