What happens in 36 minutes?
..What is that?
It's an interstellar anus, or in fancypants 'scientific terms', a black hole. [editline]12th June 2011[/editline]
What happens in 36 minutes?
Until he has downloaded it, presumably.
I hoped this update would fix the random crashes though.
"OH MY GOD, IT'S FULL OF STARS!"
I'm thinking DX11 or Windows 7 is causing it. Have you tried updating your drivers?
My drivers aren't the latest ones (I have a Toshiba laptop and it's a bit of an arse updating the drivers) but they are quite new. I have discovered though if I start in windowed mode then press "Ctrl-Enter" the fullscreen works... Strange
Oh god am I the only one who gets extremely dizzy when moving around in this game? I think it has to do with that there's no obvious up and down. Still very cool space game/simulator
I have discovered though if I start in windowed mode then press "Ctrl-Enter" the fullscreen works... Strange
Oh, thats what I do. I didn't know you were launching with Fullscreen enabled already.
I'm also having troubles. Radeon 5770 here.

That is cool. There should be a way to extract the texture map of the planet you are looking it, would be cool to have map of the landmasses on terra class planet. [editline]12th June 2011[/editline] Turns out when I made Reach I put it around the wrong star (40 Eri instead of 18 Eri), I confused it with the system Vulcan is in. Also, strange, 40 Eridani in real life is Triple Star System, but it isn't in this program. [editline]12th June 2011[/editline] Reach now orbiting its correct star
Found out that there is no Halley's commet in our solar system... Thats wierd...
Found out that there is no Halley's commet in our solar system... Thats wierd...
Yeah, some stellar objects are missing. I can't find the star VY Canis Majoris.
Decided to step into the Mars screenshot bandwagon. Made myself two screenshots: First, the more generic one: Second, the more artsy one:
Yeah, some stellar objects are missing. I can't find the star VY Canis Majoris.
Try using some of it's other astronomical designations, sometimes stuff isn't put under one thing, but turns up under another.
Well when I turn the orbits on, Halley's commet orbit is not there... it's strange that they missed this one...
Try using some of it's other astronomical designations, sometimes stuff isn't put under one thing, but turns up under another.
I did, I tried 3-4 different Designations for it.

Its not that hard to make a planet if you're good with numbers or a Calculator. All I really did was use Pandora and Earth as a template, and the used values from other of the "\data\catalogs\planets" files, and modified them to fit the profile of Reach. If you don't supply a surface texture it just generates one it's self, like it does with the procedural planets. Basically I did what people did in the early day's of GMOD's Lua (and some still do). I took code and modified it for my use, and learned off it.
Hey, it was bound to happen eventually v:v:v
Found out that there is no Halley's comet in our solar system... Thats wierd...
As of last version, there were no comets at all. Considering he just added procedural asteroids, catalogue/procedural comets are probably next.
I found a desert planet with rings that had an atmospheric pressure rating of like 4997.8
I like how the clouds don't look like sprites. They look very volumetric.
Can someone put up a better link? Because megaupload is being an ass and tells me i'm already downloading files.
I keep crashing with the GL_INVALID_OPERATION error. I'm guessing this is a Windows 7 x64 issue?
I keep crashing with the GL_INVALID_OPERATION error. I'm guessing this is a Windows 7 x64 issue?
I'm using Windows 7 x64 and as you can see I'm using it just fine.
This version is nearly as unstable as the last one. Going close to a planet nearly guarantees a crash.
I get a black screen when starting the program, what gives? I do see the cursor though, and it appears to be reacting to my input, no way to know for sure since all I see is the cursor. I have a 4870x2 on win7x64 This is both fullscreen and windowed, no dice either way. Also my card gets louder when I open the window, so it's definitely doing something.
resize the window by 1 pixel and all become visible, i have same problem ... [editline]14th June 2011[/editline]
This version is nearly as unstable as the last one. Thanks for the helpful tip, Dwarden. How do you guys actually manage to render planets so fast without getting bored?
The answer may be "Well, we have faster computers than you". But I'm not completely sure what you mean.
[IMG_thumb]http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w306/Tuskin38/scr00032.png[/IMG_thumb] A Life bearing moon around a procedural gas giant and star. it looks like it has a thick Atmosphere. About Half the gravity of earth. Also a lot of the gas giants look the same.
That picture is stunning.
