8,4,6 and two on the numpad pitch/yaw the ship up, left, right and down, respectively, while the cursor keys control engines and thrusters, aka forward, backward and strafing left and right. Just remember that you're moving in a frictionless environment. Not sure if any of that helped, but there you go.
Also how are you guys getting your ships to precise locations like Sol? Are you just moving the ships there in the editor or something?
Q/E are the only keys that make the actual ship orientation change, by making the ship roll. Pitching up, down, left or right does nothing other than making the two purple balls switch place. Ship always aims at the same spot. In this screeny the ball is right below the ship and another right above it, took screen without the HUD by accident so they're not visible.

Try toggling numlock
What are the setting for having the best looking graphics? I can't remember if a negative LOD is better or not.

hurp. works now :v:
[editline]7th July 2012[/editline]
but how do I get the hyperdrive to go in the right direction? aimed the shuttle at another planet and engaged, and the thing flies backwards
[editline]7th July 2012[/editline]
nevermind, using normal acceleration works just as well
Hope it'll allow custom starships eventually. Because if it ever does, I'm so re-making the Homeworld mothership.
You can already make and add custom models, that was why spaceships were included this time around in the first place. You can also make buildings and add them to specific planets too apparently.
Someone already put Mass Effect models in

Not my kind of ships but still neat nonetheless.
I want to see rudimentary AI added that engages in fights and shit, that'd be rad as fuck.

This game has so much promise.
I want ships to not vanish when we move out of a light source. :/
"ENGAGE HYPERDR- welp the ship's gone again oh well. "
welp i bugged out and im stuck inside the earth.
setting my destination else where does not free me from earth so how do i reset a game save?
Rovers would be cool, ride around asteroids and moons and shit
I'm having so many crashes.. I can't get onto a planet's surface without crashing in seconds. :(

The crashing seemed to stop for me after setting VideoMemorySize to 2048 in the main.cfg (Which is quadrupole my video card's actual RAM), although now it shutters a lot in star-intensive areas.

that fix is either coming in the next version or a patch.

Space engine never ceases to amaze me. Although I kinda wish SE would add pulsars, blackholes and other cool space things sometime soon though.

Space engine has blackholes and plenty of them. Just fly to the center of a galaxy or press F6 and look at locations.
Also there is a addon pack for new Nebulae in .96

So the only thing I can think of that is really missing are pulsars but they might already be in just not animated or anything.

It does have blackholes..Check the location list.
Also, for some reason I don't have planet surfaces that look that good anymore :( They're always a blurry looking, undetailed mess.
So a quick question.
How does the ship handle?
I want to see this become Sins of a Solar Empire with surface warfare and shit.
That would be fucking badass.
Thats the problem with games this early.
People start forming their ideas of games and when it doesn't turn out that way they get mad.
From seeing those Mass Effect models I imagine piloting a Capital Ship in huge battles, being able to colonize the stars. Huge fleets duking it out kinda thing.

There's pulsars in SpaceEngine, except they don't actually send out beams of light. They just spin really quickly.
I really wish it would stop crashing everytime I get close to a planet.
I really wish it would stop crashing everytime I get close to a planet.
I wish I could load terrain, I'm running at 100-200 fps but with my 215 mob of vram surfaces other than a shitty lower texture aren't visible.
Though if I quit and come back it loads the nearest objects.
Also in order to run this I have to supplement my 4gigs of ram with another two from ready boost flashdrives
Can someone walk me through actually controlling the game and figuring out how it works?

Read the readme.
Read the readme.
Thanks, that and the manual on the website are really helpful. Is there a way to err, teleport or fly to our solar system?
Nevermind: F3
Grrr. I can't add any new models, Spaceengine crashes when it tries to convert it to its native format. :/

Did you delete the cache folder and then launch a couple times? Sometimes it crashes during the caching process and needs to be launched a couple more time.
No luck, and the only thing I find in the log is this:
Importing model "data/models/spacecrafts/PyroGX/PyroGX.obj"

Anyone know how to get the brightness down? I was roaming around a desert planet and it became very bright as the sun reflected off of the surface. I also have to say this is amazing.

Try turning on auto-exposure and turning off bloom?
