guys how do i find planets
im tired of all these stars and it wont stop
please help
Planets are TINY. Pretty much every star has planets.
You could go to a star system and press F2 to get a menu of planets in that system.

I can see the list now but how do I get to them :'(

Double press G.
I found these awesome images of edited planet shader files. Sadly, the method to do this on 0.96 is not yet known.

holy shit, I just hope my rig can take it
also, I think the spiky planet bug actually looks interesting

I absolutely love this program, whoever posted that Large Address Aware trick thanks a lot it really worked, now I can explore the Cosmos to my hearts content without having to worry about crashing. Now for an image dump
I found this quaint triple star system outside a procedurally generated galaxy and it contained a brown dwarf in it! (the shining red object)

I then found this binary star system, one star was a white drawf and the other was a neutron star

I tried to get as close as I could to the neutron star, but there was nothing there, and the white dwarf was just a weird 2D image

I then found this neat desert world orbiting a blue hypergiant I think, it had this awesome green atmosphere

This game is amazing!
For the neutron star, turn off "Real sun brightness".
Also, those things spin FAST.

Whats the phyiscs beyond a white dwarf surviving a supernova?

Hmmm. Passable.
Anyone know how to get rid of those evil, nasty, horrible skybox lines?
How do you make panaorama's like that? Are you using the export skybox feature and stitching them together?
I found a temperate terra with life around a binary brown star

it's quite a dark planet.
Damn how do you find all these cool planets? I mostly find generic boring to look at planets no matter where I go.

Click random stars and then press F2 and look at the icons. When you see an interesting looking orb fly to it, if there aren't any neat looking planets just click another star and keep trying. This doesn't work for systems with more than one star as it will only show the barycenter and the planets orbiting both/all stars, not the planets orbiting single parent stars.

in that menu right click on a star to show child planets
also, found this terra with life with a geostationary ringed moon

the moon is always facing the same spot much like a human-made satellite instead of circling around its planet

That I did not know, now I'm gonna have to do that for every binary star I click. Thanks for the info.
How can I get the planet display thing (which shows all planets in a line) to display moons? It doesn't show them to me for some reason.

Spending a long time checking all systems
My planets seem to now be generating without atmospheres. Either there's been some sort of Universal disaster that has affected both the Milky Way and Andromeda, or my game's bugging up.
I have a GTX590 with my planets set to 0.001 detail if it helps.
Does anyone else face button problems? Like, you have to press and hold the Esc key for a split second for the menu to come up, but if pressed normally and instantly, nothing will happen. And when clicking buttons, sometimes they are unresponsive unless clicked multiple times, such as the "close" button in the planet editor menu.
Also that side bar menu thing is annoying as fuck as it appears right over the scrollbar when you try to click and drag the scrollbar in the planet editor menu. Same with that bottom menu thing that appears.

Found a great way to flying a ship, the Hyperdrive just speeds up the time on the ship its not actually a drive so to speak. So you can use the regular propulsion in a system, select a star, then fly around 1C towards that star, and then enable the Hyperdrive and use the scroll wheel to instantly slow down/speed up. You never really have to stop because 1C is pretty slow on such grand scales and the hyperfactor is great for nonstop approaches.

It's not a 2D image, it's just so bright that the bloom kills itself

You can also right click on planets to see their moons.
Messing about with different ways to take screenshots.
A panorama of a terra with life, it's moon and star:

So, basically, the Hyperdrive is just a fancy-shmancy Relativity Engine?
"Well, we're here, but everyone on board is now eighty years old."
Been wanting to play this forever but my computer is so bad. Can't wait until the end of the summer when I build my own :(
Man, this creates some really trippy space vistas, also how the hell do I stop this game crashing? I crash within 5 minutes.

Terran Moon with life orbiting an Oceania, undergoing an eclipse.
Does someone who posts beautiful screenshots here care to share their exact settings? Because I followed all of the posts before now and all my planets are still blurry and look like shit, and my screenshots are really pixelated...

Maybe you accidently hit the toggle atmospheres button? I did that earlier.
An interesting fact I've found; many of the stars in the galaxy and nearby galaxies can be searched up by their HIP names on google, which will come up with a Wolfram|Alpha link, where you can then search for HD names for info and to see if the stars are real or not.
VY Canis Majoris is a fun one, though I'm not sure it's displayed correctly in space engine.
[editline]10th July 2012[/editline]
Also, where do saved cubemaps/panoramas get saved? I thought it'd be under the screenshot folder (that'd make sense...) but they aren't there.
Is the english space engine site down for anyone else? I swear, that site is down 90% of the time for me, I can't even see the screenshots.
