Vertigo 1, you are cleared to proceed to Zeta Aquilae.

Motherfucking Decent.
I have a nVidia GTX460M and the cubed terrain used to appear with those settings on previous versions but now works fine for me.
Motherfucking Decent.
You spelled it wrong. No cookie for you.
Is there a way to change the screenshot file/quality?
In main.cfg find // screenshots and other settings and change away!
Where can one get some good star trek ship models? I'd like to give porting some a try.

Some of those models are really nice I'll see what I can do...might only get one or two ported. So any favorites?

Found a Terran Moon with rings and life around a gas giant. Real cold, only -95.15 C (-139.27 F).
Anyone know a good way to get rid of banding lines on shadow gradients? Or is it an engine limitation?

Close up of a gas giant's rings, backdropped by a galaxy.
Brown Dwarfs are awesome and scary.

I've never had a weak body or stomach but this simulator just broke me. Going at super speeds giving you that Star Wars hyperspace effect and being in elevated areas in general makes me physically weak.
I would play with this program a lot more if it weren't crashing all the time...
Once again, try large address aware if you haven't already. Doesn't outright fix crashes, but may reduce their frequency.

This game is cool...

Dem spinny planets
I still have no idea how to fly starships.
Any way to stop crashing?
Any way to stop crashing?
Software is still in early beta but have you tried any of these?
Grab the program called Large Address Aware and then browse to the Space Engine exe and apply it.
http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=34392&d=1269231650
After that go to the main.cfg file and change the video memory section to something like this
// memory settings
VideoMemorySize 2048 // video card onboard memory (VRAM) in megabytes
VideoMemoryMaxPercent 90 // max VRAM consumption (percents)
VideoMemoryStartupDetect false // use auto detection of VRAM size on startup, otherwise use VideoMemorySize value
VideoMemoryDynamicDetect false // use auto detection of available amount of VRAM in runtime
GalaxySysModelCacheSize 5 // do not change this!
ClusterStarModelCacheSize 200 // do not change this!
If you are on Nvidia it will run much smoother and crash far less often, if you are on ATI it will run smoother and crash less often but near planets with a designated texture or bump set(like Earth/Mars/Moon/etc) will stutter a bit. Stutters are still better than crashing.
Forgot to say don't do this if you have a weak system and under 4GBs of RAM or a weak GPU, it won't end well.
Also add +fullproc to the end of the shortcut.
How exactly do you view surfaces properly? I just move into planets and usually get a matte texture.
Didn't do anything for me :v:
This is silly I can't see any surfaces.
How exactly do you view surfaces properly? I just move into planets and usually get a matte texture.
I hit shift-g and use 1 and 0 to get to a decent elevation, and fly around.
Check your LOD settings. Also only procedurally generated planets have real terrain, so far as I know.

Instructions: Jsut copy the "data" folder from this archive to you main space engine folder.
!!!NOTE!!! If you have my Mass Effect ship pack MOD installed, after you copy over the "data" folder, extract the "MEspacecrafts.sc" file from this archive,
rename it to "spacecrafts.sc" (simply remove the ME from the beggining of the file name) and copy it over to "data\models\spacecrafts" folder.
Now you will have both ship packs installed.
If you don't have my Mass Effect ship pack MOD, you need only to copy over the "data" folder and nothing else.
You can download the Mass Effect ship pack MOD at: http://en.spaceengine.org/forum/17-728-3
!!!WARNING!!! Due to a certain problem, the norm and spec textures do not work well with these models in Space Engine, thus they were not included, and as a result, the effects of sun shine and reflection on the ships and the "3d feel" of the textures is absent from this mod.
