Need 1:1 star wars models. Huge motherfucking ships.
Oh my god why are spaceships so terrible? I can understand the use of inertia and needing to decelerate your ship, but playing like this is intolerable. I cannot do anything except fly in a straight line at absurd velocities. I hope someone comes up with a way to simplify the way ships work immensely
Need 1:1 star wars models. Huge motherfucking ships.
Would need good model sources. If its anything like those Star Trek models posted on the previous page then they won't be added to space engine. The models posted on the last page don't use UV mapped textures, but rather colored materials applied to the model's surface.
The ships are really not fun to control. I wish we had a choice of control systems.. A 6DoF Miner Wars/Descent style system would make me very happy.
I can't figure out how to take a screenshot. Help.
I can't figure out how to take a screenshot. Help.
F11 or ctrl+F11 if you want the screen to display information. Couple screens of some ships I've put in orbit around planets [thumb]http://niggaupload.com/images/5VZbA.jpg[/thumb] [thumb]http://niggaupload.com/images/Ip3U.jpg[/thumb] Achieving orbit isn't that hard surprisingly.
-Fuck, I'm stupid. Snip-

How the fuck did I not learn about this earlier

[editline]12th July 2012[/editline]
How the fuck did I not learn about this earlier
You were too busy with internet spaceships?
How come I can't connect to en.spaceengine.org?
I just noticed there's a patch 0.9.6.1

The terrain ruins it, it looks like shit. (not your fault, I know) [editline]11th July 2012[/editline] Zoomed into the middle of the screen.. [editline]11th July 2012[/editline] so I was just fucking around and zooming about the universe. I ended up here. My god. It's full of stars.
What the hell is this
What the hell is this
A star. Obviously.
I found a quasar.. not implemented yet unfortunately. I hope they make the filaments more realistic and dynamic in the future, what they have is great though.
Read the readme
I did. The controls don't seem to quite give the results I'm expecting.
neutron stars are a lot of fun. Especially riding them.
What the hell is this
Not all stars are actually spheres of gas, they're just bright enough that they look that way from a distance or through an optical telescope.
Does anybody else get an issue where the game crashes when you try to go down to a planet's surface? I can't get to Earth without the game shitting itself.
What the hell is this
Its a red giant. That is how the possibly look in real life.
Its a red giant. That is how the possibly look in real life.
Red Giants are bumpy? I read a lot of Science Textbooks and watch science related shows and never once did they mention that huge stars look like this.
Qapla' [t]http://img38.imageshack.us/img38/6910/scr00008.png[/t] Took me almost a whole day to get the model's polygon count down, and it still seems a bit high IMO. And then there is the fact that the text and windows are polygons as well, I was just getting too tired to bother with them.
Its not a red giant. Marshmello star. Its when a star is solid, not gas. Makes weird terrain. I hate them. [editline]11th July 2012[/editline]
Qapla' [t]http://img38.imageshack.us/img38/6910/scr00008.png[/t] Took me almost a whole day to get the model's polygon count down, and it still seems a bit high IMO.
Is there a maximum to the amount of polygons you can import? That's dumb.
Red Giants are bumpy? I read a lot of Science Textbooks and watch science related shows and never once did they mention that huge stars look like this.
It's because of light warping from the common optical telescopes used to formulate common astrological theory, a few pages ago a thermal telescope shows an entirely different view on a red giant, which turns out to have a very weird surface compared to other stars.
Red Giants are bumpy? I read a lot of Science Textbooks and watch science related shows and never once did they mention that huge stars look like this.
The weird fireball-y shape is one way to explain the irregular brightness variations that red giants have. See this.
Is there a maximum to the amount of polygons you can import? That's dumb.
Not really, I just thought having 26637 faces on it was a bit too much. But I managed to get the count down to 5075.
That was a simulation, our telescopes are not powerful enough nor are they large enough to see distant stars in such detail.
Dammit me and my spreading facts-that-are-not-facts-but-in-fact-misguided-facts-that-aren't-real again.
