What do Brown Dwarfs look like from a distance? I can only ever find Yellow, Orange or Red ones.
What I've found is the easiest way to find them is to go into nebulas and look for binary (or more) red dwarf systems and use F2 to inspect the system to see if there is a brown dwarf in it. I've had the most luck with this method. Also, they seem to be relatively rare, from my experience.
I like how clicking on a Star will now say if any planets have life.
Turns out F3 lets me search for planets, and a lot of the known Brown Dwarf stars are in the game. Stars like CFBDS 1458, for example. Also Binary Brown Dwarves WISE 1741+2553.
Some known neutrons start with PSR, if anyone wants to check 'em out. - - - - - - - - Some more panoramas: [thumb]https://dl.dropbox.com/u/32146097/Purty.png[/thumb] [thumb]https://dl.dropbox.com/u/32146097/Moarpurties.png[/thumb] And I found it funny how this tiny star is bright as all hell compared to its giant companion. [thumb]https://dl.dropbox.com/u/32146097/scr00064.png[/thumb] Wait a minute, how spectacular would a supernova be if the star that goes kaboom has a companion?
Care to release this please?
http://filesmelt.com/dl/TES_Planets.rar There you go. Just note, I haven't been able to get textures for the actual planet of nirn, so its procedural. If you look in the config file for the planets you'll also find a commented out "Planes of the Daedra" which would be a brown dwarf. Do what you will with that.
Gif I made of the same region of space. This starts as the non procedural galaxies and then the procedural ones rendering on top.
Imagine a game pm this engine with procedural generated life forms and civilizations, then space ships and exploring. Would be an amazing rpg, just taking a star you like and starting a space fleet and civilization eventually taking more and more stars and then exploring of new worlds. The possibilities are endless.
Imagine if Spore had been like this :v:
Imagine if Spore had been like this :v:
Ha I totally thought the same thing. Will Wright spoiled what could have been so, so much better. This game is living proof of his concept, minus googly-eyed cells and dick monsters.

Yeah, fair enough. EA, however, did.
EA and above all a guy called Chris Hecker who convinced them to go with the cartoonish look and simplistic gameplay, he's been fired since then, no big loss.
Not sure if this was already suggested, but if there was a computer powerful enough to handle a mix between Space Engine and Outerra, then that'd be fucking amazing. http://www.outerra.com/index.html
If Space Engine gets to this point I'll be happy enough: I'm mostly talking about the speed at which it loads the planet and the water.
Is there any difference to a planet with life other than the little (with life) added to it's type?
Is there any difference to a planet with life other than the little (with life) added to it's type?
With life is rarer. That's about it.
With life is rarer. That's about it.
It also tends to haver more green terrain representing some kind of plant lifeform.
It also tends to haver more green terrain representing some kind of plant lifeform.
It's sometimes just oceans of red stuff :V
If Space Engine gets to this point I'll be happy enough: I'm mostly talking about the speed at which it loads the planet and the water.
It will eventually if you have noticed its gotten faster with each iteration released. I think space engineer said his goal for that kind of loading is for 1.0
Is there any difference to a planet with life other than the little (with life) added to it's type?
Not yet but in future versions there will be night lights and multiple life tags from just bacteria life up to intelligent life which will be the rarest.
This game totally terrifies me. The scale of everything freaks me out when I move around. I literally jumped back when I moved through a galaxy and a buttload of stars went by.
You are not ready young padawan.
This game is pretty. Do you guys reckon it could be used in some other context? For example an entire RPG-type-videogame could be made out of it.

Learning and creating new possibility for it's race. I could see something grow from a single bacteria to an intergalactic civilization on my computer screen. And that I would truly know. How it felt to be god. (True the computer needed to simulate this FOR AN ENTIRE FUCKING UNIVERSE would have to be roughly universe sized. But it would be a sight to behold.)

Imagine an RPG where you start off as a poor guy with a small ship. Trading, fighting in wars, mercenary action, piracy, etc... you get rich. Rich enough to make a fleet. Rich enough to make your own colony. You colonize worlds and build cities to further make money to fuel your fleet. You separate from your mother-nation and try to gain independence.

Thankfully coding something that simulates a Universe takes a more philosophical approach, in which only what you can see exists at any given time, the rest is built from a small set of information whenever it is needed, which is what Space Engine does. It's an illusion, but it works.
Going around the universe listening to "I'm Proud of You" from Mass Effect 3's soundtrack. Anyone know of some good spots/searches? I'd love to find some easter eggs. I'm at Pandora at the moment because someone said there was that.
