You need the Data folder from 0.84 to use 0.9.
0.9 is not standalone.
VY Canis Majoris is the largest star currently known to us.
Has anyone found this in the game yet? Neither VY nor Canis get me any search results at all.

That appears to have worked, thank you.
still trying to find that pulsar
so far the furthest away object i found is ZWG 99.95.
192.343 Mpc away from sol(the sun).
also i noticed how it engine gets more unstable the further you move away from the milky way

Queue the "blue dot" story
So how do I actually view other planets.
Firstly, everything in the background is black. There are no billions of stars like I see in other pictures.
Secondly, I can't go anywhere except zoom levels of the Earth. When I click on another star, I can't zoom on it. How do you do this?
Thirdly I can't go to planet surfaces, it just zooms in extremely close to the planet texture.

1. Go into objects options and turn on Procedural Stars and Planets
2. Tap G Twice
3. shift+G and move with the WASD keys, mouse wheel increases and decreases speed and hold Mouse 1 to look around
This is fucking amazing. I feel a bit uneasy while playing it though, and I don't know why... I'm sort of in a state of awe, but then it also hammers down the realization of how insignificant we are in the grand scheme of things...
Time for some more exploring.
Oh god I had everything on procedural, and then I went into some giant clusterfuck of stars.
I crashed :v:

Something like this

This thing has the Orion Nebula in it... It's fuzzy and lacks detail like Hubble's photos but you can definitely tell what it is

And now an eclipse caused by a gas giant, for 30 minutes the moon was in complete darkness:

A Planet with rings, nice, haven't seen any of those yet, just Gas Giants. It's hard to take a screenshot of a Gas Giant's rings from one of its moons since its moons are on the same plane as the rings usually
This crashes every 2 minutes for me.
Set compatibility mode to XP. There's a problem with Vista/7 where instead of emptying out what's stored in memory but not being used anymore and filling it with newly explored stuff, it just fills up until *Crash*
Or something like that. Turning Procedural Stars off will help too. There's still thousands and thousands of stars all over the place, don't worry
Found a nice planet with life drifting apart from the galaxy next to a couple of white dwarf stars.

Did you install it right?
First extract 0.84
Then copy 0.90 on it and overwrite.
Or you can just download the mirror.
[editline]5th April 2011[/editline]
Also be sure to manually set your amount of VRAM in main.cfg.

And make sure that the texture fix is enabled if you're using an ATi/AMD card.
Is the one on the front page from filesmelt include the update?
Yes.
Still waiting on the Pulsar.....
PSR B1257+12
Texture fix?
I think I'm going to make a video, just random shots and slow flights through canyons, watching orbits and all that jazz... Might come out pretty nice
