My space engine keeps crashing :(
Mine too, I have 8gb ram so that can't be the issue. Is the program's ram usage limited?
I'm not good at screenshots, please don't hit me. [t]http://i.imgur.com/xZcUU.jpg[/t][t]http://i.imgur.com/tUcSI.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/SNj8C.jpg[/t][t]http://i.imgur.com/bmdEt.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/RFAgz.jpg[/t][t]http://i.imgur.com/ym6VU.jpg[/t] And my SE keep crashing too. :(
The creators of Space Engine should team up with the dwarf fortress guys to generate a universe of diverse planets each with their own generated races, histories and characters. (well, at least on planets that are habitable)
Someone on the Russian forums made a ship editor that lets you export to obj and import into SE. My media tags broke and I can't seem to fix them www.youtube.com/watch?v=BGhe3UCXfG0 http://en.spaceengine.org/forum/17-1292-1 http://spaceengine.org/forum/6-304-1
A little spaceship I made: Too bad there doesn't seam to be an undo button, at least I can't find one.
Too bad there doesn't seam to be an undo button, at least I can't find one.
No there isn't one, you just have to hold CTRL + left click the part or parts you want to remove. Also really nice ship.
I put a moon around Venus. :v: I named it "Paris". Paris was the one who decided that Aphrodite was the most beautiful goddess and it eventually lead to the Trojan War. Now that I think about it, I should probably move Paris out further.
Hey guys, anybody kind enough to help me out for a second? I get these wierd lines all over my planets.. kinda reminds me of skybox issues in Source. Not the shadows from the ring.. but around the atmosphere. I tried searching here and on Google but no results, I might just be stupid though. Please help.
Do you have anything like AA forced on using your graphics driver settings?
Could be the problem, do I need to take it off? - Okay it worked! Many thanks!! - What the fuck it's back again. I'm getting confused.
Ship editor was updated
Editor Update - Replaced export to .obj with export to native SpaceEngine .sm file format. This solves problem with tangents and incorrect bump mapping. Export to .obj is still available in extended toolbar, that can be shown by clicking on "plus" button in top-right corner. But you should use it only for import in Third-party editors like Max, Maya or Blender. Here is the difference between .obj and .sm: [thumb]http://spaceengine.ucoz.ru/_fr/12/s0135627.jpg[/thumb] So, you could reexport your ships to remove problem with bump. - Also, I have slightly changed camera rotation. Now it tries to rotate around point on view line, closest to main axis. If it fails to find this point, it will try to rotate around projection of coordinates center onto view line. And if this point is behind the camera, it will rotate around itself. How to update - Web-version will be updated automatically. - "Lazy" downloadable version must be redownloaded completely. - Version for experienced users could be updated in 2 ways: * download only sc-editor.nw (3 times smaller, then "lazy" version). * or update 3 files inside sc-editor.nw (it's a zip archive), that can be get from web version: index.html, js/editor.js, js/camera_control.js. [editline]15th December 2012[/editline]
I put a moon around Venus. :v: I named it "Paris". In order for that to work the moon would have to be very small and like an extremely powerful oppositely charged magnet core

Visited that place with the eclipse again. Got this shot: [thumb]https://dl.dropbox.com/u/32146097/scr00146-scr00155.png[/thumb] Used a TINY bit of Photoshop to fill in some missing areas at the bottom.
[img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/QgKtM.jpg[/img_thumb] Also found a temperate Terra with life in orbit around brown dwarf.
This screenshot I took really makes me sick. It's from a 5.4km high mountain, with the deserty area being around 14km away. [thumb]https://dl.dropbox.com/u/32146097/scr00182.png[/thumb]
even has a moon so sick
I really had to make this: [thumb]https://dl.dropbox.com/u/32146097/Taking Screenshots.jpg[/thumb] Also, use [thumb] tags for large images.
I'm getting a new card for Christmas. Hopefully this game will run better than the 20fps on my 6450. Anyways, how do you take panoramas like Freak2121 did at the top of the page?

Have Photoshop or Hugin stitch them together.

A lot of settings! It will be expanded a bit before the release. Note the listboxes for choosing the config of the lens flares and ghosts effects. Lens flare and ghost now are "dynamic" - they will rotate and change their brightness depending on the position of the sun on the screen. All effects are adjustable in the lens flare config.
Hot damn, I'm really excited for the next version.
I'm really excited for 2013 in general. Dwarf Fortress's new release, XLEngine's new release, Space Engine's new release... so many cool projects gearing up for new releases in the next few months.
Metric fuck-ton of images incoming. how long does it usually take to load landscapes on lod2 guys? on a 7770. 30 sec to 2 minutes depending on the intensity
how long does it usually take to load landscapes on lod2 guys? on a 7770. 30 sec to 2 minutes depending on the intensity
About the same times on my 6950. I use LOD 1 unless something in the distance looks awfully jagged or I just want a higher-quality picture.
So I was skimming through the To-Do List for this when I came across these two:
-Improving the level of detail, reaching of 1 mm per pixel detail -3D water with waves animation, simulation of the tides
I remembered that Outerra already has that level of procedural generation, so I decided to check it out: [thumb]https://dl.dropbox.com/u/32146097/outerra%202012-12-29%2022-17-27-50.png[/thumb] [thumb]https://dl.dropbox.com/u/32146097/outerra%202012-12-29%2022-18-23-17.png[/thumb] [thumb]https://dl.dropbox.com/u/32146097/outerra%202012-12-29%2022-19-09-90.png[/thumb] [thumb]https://dl.dropbox.com/u/32146097/outerra%202012-12-29%2023-29-16-65.png[/thumb] Holy fuck. It makes me wonder WHEN those two features will be implemented, because they will be amazing. Right now the level of detail is like 4m per pixel and the 3D water is just a shitty sphere in the planet.
-Improving the level of detail, reaching of 1 mm per pixel detail My graphics card is crying already.
