Graphics-wise, when it came out, it definitely was mind-blowing for the time. I don't really look at the graphics when I play a game. Hell I still like to play some very old games like Command & Conquer. Gameplay-wise, I still haven't met many other games that utilizes puzzles and shooting the way the half life series did. It wasn't another zombified run-n-gun shooter. Gordon Freeman was a physicist long before he became a combine killing machine so it makes sense that he still has to use his noggin every once in a while. The gravity gun is definitely one of the funnest weapons to use. Not only was it vital for puzzles, but its useful for a whole lot of other reasons too. Valve, thank you for giving me a weapon that not only kills my enemy, but also lets me humiliate his corpse. My biggest complaint of the whole series are the rebels. The best word I've heard to describe them is 'enthusiastic' They're surprised to see Gordon, all too eager to help him and become a nuisance after a while. The two things rebels excel in are being meat shields and blocking doorways-presumably to keep the combine out.
