Late, but I made a mash up of a few songs people from my server enjoyed and also with a few of their quotes.

Soft sounding thing

Started off as an ambient thing. Didn't end up like one.
Donglekumquat recently made this new track (possibly for Tower Unite) that sounds like some sort of arcade.

And, here's one of my favorite orchestral pieces I've made. Inspired by Dark Souls, sort of.

was this all live improv? its quite good. piano improv is one of my favorite things to do when im stressed, though i hate hitting record because then i get stressed and think it sounds terrible lol

not at all improv'd but i made this atmospheric film score-y thing as a demo a while ago

Same, although I don't really know how to actually *play* music, I just like to mess with an online piano app with my computer keyboard and record it, cut and save what I think sounds good enough.

its really easy to improv pleasant sounding stuff in general (not that this at all diminishes what you did), especially if you play in a different key than the norm or learn more about playing in key. I wish I wasn't out studying, I'd give an example of before/after I learned a bit of theory. one of my favorite things is to pick a random note on the keyboard, think of the key based there, and then just try to play away with that key. good way to learn new stuff.
jazz chords are my waifu
if you hate theory though, don't bother. its an excellent tool but i find some ruin it for others or ruin music by demeaning those who don't want to learn it

since this is a general fun thread to post in, wip of a diamond sky remix. you can find the stems quite easily, and this is my first time working with vox. its fun, but hard as fuck to mix the usual walls of sound in melodic dubstep and still leave room for the vocals somewhere :v
[editline]10th February 2016[/editline]
actually pretty proud of this, first time:
- using db.glitch
- working with vox
- having more than 10 layers
- going over 2min
- also this is my 7,500th post thats sorta neat I guess
this song is an application of all the learning i've done since november, and is also how I know I'm getting over my depression. so, yay! no more hating my musics :D

It's definatly one of the better dubstep samples I've heard in a while. But it's not just because it's melodic, you also time your drops very nicely in oppose to alot of other unlisted songs which just create a big hot mess of drops which makes the melody go all over the place.

Thanks! It was a lot of fun putting this together when the groove came together so neatly. I've always struggled with groove, and not had much luck producing this genre (despite loving it to death). Decided trying a remix of the genre I love might help me learn a bit more about it, and so far I seem to have been right!
also, I linked the wrong version. oops. updated link in earlier post, its just a few eq changes and me running it through my new-ish mastering chain.
edit: or was the right version? fuck. idk. I've been uploading tons of copies of this thing since its been changing a ton as I redo the arrangement :v:
Some of my mates and I meet up once in a while, drink some beer and then we make an entire song with a theme in a couple of hours. It's a lot of fun, but the results definitely vary a lot in quality (and I end up singing each time, which is a questionable decision every time). This one turned out pretty well in my opinion.

Got some Modest Mouse vibes from this. The drum pattern at 0:40 should be a crash instead of an open hi-hat. Ease back on that arpeggio guitar. Could make it go a little higher at 1:55 for some variety. It generally needs some more movement. Try some going from staccato to legato and back again with the mid guitar, generally make it more expressive. Make the drums louder (but not in volume). Try some more sparse melodies with the high guitar. Maybe play with some delay.
I played guitar for a few years back in the times and I used to play in a few bands. I quit my band years ago and since then I pretty much have not played much at all. Yesterday I was high as fuck and recorded some impro (I dont even remember a single song) and uploaded it to Youtube. I think some parts sound pretty ugly (especially 1:10-1:15) but at times I think it's actually pretty good for just random one shot impro, since I have not done impro actively earlier. I suggest to start at 1:15 because the previous part sucks donkey balls.

If you've got any tips for tech or how to improve improvisation, I appreciate all feedback.
E: I've always been self-educated and I really don't know anything about scales, notes ect.
