If you've got any tips for tech or how to improve improvisation, I appreciate all feedback. E: I've always been self-educated and I really don't know anything about scales, notes ect.
you definitely have a lot of skill with playing, but you should really get into music theory.
you definitely have a lot of skill with playing, but you should really get into music theory.
I've made a few attempts to study it, but I really have not found a media that'd keep me interested and that would offer sufficient explanations for things. I've gotten the impression that music theory is old and is mostly about memorizing things without actually offering a theory that'd explain why scales are as they are and what are the mathematics behind it. Got any suggestions for education material?
I already posted this in the "Musician's Gig Room" thread, but might as well post here too. After writing some dark, ambient synth songs for the past month, I wanted to add some variety into my writing. So I decided to do something more "fun" sounding and made this straight outta the 80's piece.

This is originally based on Jordan Rudess's live solo, but I completely turned the melodies into a new "song". I had some piano lessons when I was like 9, but I never liked it and I still cant read any notes.
