This thread about English is becoming a huge "Bad Spelling" rating. :irony:

Facepunch is becoming more and more like 4chan by the day.
You already are one.
I'm not the one embarrassing myself to try and fit in with people who'll never accept me.
wat? [sp]Do not ban me; for AOL did the horrid deed, not I. Ban the culprit, the source of this plague, not the innocent victims of this merciless tide. BAN AOL![/sp]
Anyway, I was born in India. I grew up in Hindi, Konkani and Arabic-speaking countries, and then I came to Canada at the age of thirteen. Nearly everyone in the United Arab Emirates can write in English almost immaculately by the time they're eleven.

Which is embarrassing as fuck, since I know for a fact that he was born and raised in Canada.
:psyduck:
:psyduck:
Him. The kid who called me a terrorist. Rated bad reading >.< And please don't cross over threads without linking. Since, y'know, I don't normally talk about myself in the third person, and all. And I know he was born and raised in Canada because I worked with him on a group project later and I learned about him.

I live in Canada and in my English class (Enriched) we looked over a high school leaving exam written by a student last year. It was the worst essay I've ever read. The writer used Barney (the dinosaur) to justify a point about subliminal messages in children's shows by saying "Barney sings songs about washing your hands". Then he went on to talk about Iron Man. The Iron Man part had nothing to do with anything else in the essay but the writer managed to segue the topic in by saying "Iron Man suit is like protection for insults at school". Those were his exact words. Keep in mind that this was an English high school leaving exam. The writer past the exam too. Fucking shitty english Montreal school system.

In English, I shit you not. Don't know why you reminded me of that.
Reminds me of our English classes here in Egyptian schools.. Most teachers can't pronounce English properly, they sound like they're spelling the words at a mind-numbing pace; resulting a whole generation that pronounces English in the same manner, or even worse. I was the wizard kid in class (which got me in a lot of trouble in its own right), and the only reason is that I never depended on local schools for my education. I know that it's only a second language here, but you wouldn't believe how similar things are when it comes to (formal) Arabic, allegedly the mother tongue of this nation.
I agree with OP canada sucks
What about the evolution of English? The English we write today would be virtually unrecognizable to someone a mere couple hundred years ago.. Rules change. I also think that having types of formal writing etc is bullshit anyway. Someone was taking the piss when they made that up. Aslong as it is easily understandable, what does it matter? Althought, TXT speak can go fuck itself. That's just sheer laziness.

I am pretty sure the argument of the topic is against atrocious grammar in current English and/or the main English spoken. If our language was repressed and accepted as an older form of English, this topic would still implicate meaning against those who wrong it. And, yes, "text" speak and any form related is born of pure laziness.
