Plus for all the skeptical, I had noscript disabled on the site link. That means I trust it, and have visited it before. The only site with Steam in it that I ever visit, is the legit one.
noscript
:respek:
Looks legit.
Why do I never get spam emails?
The domain still is Steampowered for you dummies out there. Besides, they wouldn't be able to get an app inside it with the code "ackgiftblabla..".
It's probably just a prank, if not hijack.
Did you help the Nigerian prince in need of money while you were at it?
Did you help the Nigerian prince in need of money while you were at it?
Yeah dude, I gave him my life savings in the spirit of Christmas.
How about sparing an empty account to try this?
And then you'd have to buy a game in that account. [editline]25th December 2010[/editline] Oh wait, you could have a free game.
I'm pretty sure that's real. I tried claiming it myself but I can never get those application links to work.
They always sign their stuff with "The Steam Team," not just Steam. You can make a link go somewhere else too. http://facepunch.com/ And if they are legitimate gifts, they might just refund them and deactivate your account.
hover with your mouse on the links and make sure they're the same as listed.
It's fake. I got one, then 5 afterwards. When you click the link, it sends you to a page that asks for your Email AND password Dat url also Why would it ask for my email password?
At least this scam has effort in it.
I always feel a little disappointed when dave@hsbcbank.tk is also called charles and needs to transfer the money from his bank "barcleycard" so I might profit from it. E; why do emails have to auto-link :frown:
