Typically how long is the process from telling your doctor you are trans to starting hormones? I don't think i'll have any complications regarding mental or physical health and I'm at an emotionally stable time in my life. I live in BC if that helps answer my question.

I think you have to live cross gender full time for a year or 2 before you're eligible for hormones, usually. It might vary province to province though. trying to figure out the specifics for my province actually.
Not true. It depends on the therapist.
I've been seeing her for about 6 months before she gave me the okay to go to a doctor to get a prescription. And honestly, I've lived as a male my whole life, except for a few times I cross dress for my own personal pleasure.

No, the "Real Life Expierence" or RLE is almost never done anymore. (atleast not in the US)
it's all based down on a shitload of factors like where you live, all the doc's and therapist involved, etc. For me I went to a therapist once every month for 6 months and then went for blood tests and started HRT after he wrote me a letter for a doctor to confirm gender identity disorder

Does anyone have the original picture? I want to see what everyone was gawking over.
Do you have to get a therapist/doctor for HRT? My therapist and doctor say they work together in prescribing me my anti depressants, but could they prescribe me HRT (theoretically)

I dont have the full thing, it was a time line showing this guy in college drinking and over weight.. then he starts hormones and gets happier and in shape and attractive

Same, there's no fucking chance I can pass the way I am now. It would just make me feel worse trying.

I know that here in Alberta there are two doctors experienced in this. They both live in Edmonton and you have to get a referral to visit them. It takes about 3-5 months typically in order to get an appointment to which you're then referred to an endocrinologist after an interview and you get your hormones after something else.
I've heard that your GP can prescribe hormones. Mine told me that he's able to but won't because he doesn't know dosages or anything.

Real Life Experience is done here in Canada [at least in BC and Ontario in order to get coverage for GRS.]
But that's /surgery/, not /hormones/. Correct?
But that's /surgery/, not /hormones/. Correct?
Yup. SRS is handled the same way in the US, as far as I'm aware. As has been said, hormones will vary. But there isn't any case where they would make you live as a woman before giving you a prescription.
But that's /surgery/, not /hormones/. Correct?
Yes. Over here hormones can vary. Like I said my GP is able to prescribe them but won't because he doesn't want to be liable and has no experience with them.

God damn.
I already talked it over with my mom and my sister about these things, and I came to the conclusion that I didn't want HRT.
I figured if I was going to do anything other than crossdress, it was going to be surgery to gain breasts and shape my body so it's more feminine.
But my god, that is an amazing transition.
I really need to get off my butt and do something with myself...

Hm?
Yes I am wondering what that meant.
Maybe bold or cut down the quote or.. somehow indicate what your asking
What?
I think he's asking if you accidentally the whole thing.
I made these posts in the LGBT chat thread and no one was really of any help.
I'm wondering if a transgender person could help me.
I'm a 19 year old male and I have been gay for the past 3 years. I've always liked girly things and I act feminine. A few months ago I discovered genderqueer and genderfluid which means I like switching between being identified as one gender over the other depending on my mood. For a while, I was comfortable with this. However, now I'm starting to develop doubts about being a male. I have strong feelings about being a female but I'm not sure. These feelings often come when my genderfluid identity wants to be female. I'm not sure its because of that or because I really am a girl. I say I'm not sure because I had these feelings before when I felt like Ashley (my female genderfluid side) and it ends up going away after a few days and I'm fine with being male for a month or more. Its just that when it does hit me it hits me very hard.
What bugs me too is I'm afraid its too late for me. Trans people go through HRT before or right after puberty. I've already been past that and I feel that even if I did do all of that I'd still look like a man. What should I do? It's starting to get to me.

I'm only putting it off because I'm not too sure I even understand myself yet. My mother knows I'm gay, she has for the past 3 and a half years and she even had questions sometimes if I felt like I was a female in a male's body. I told her no, because honestly I didn't. I know she'd be supportive if I tell her now, but I don't even understand. I've had this only 2-3 other times before in the span of... 4 months I think. I feel like this for maybe a few days or a week and then I'm right back to normal.
When I feel like this, it starts to be when my genderfluid female side wants to be recognized. And then after that's gone I'm content with being a guy for most of the month or even more. During that time, I don't care whether I'm referred to as a girl or a boy.
I'm just afraid if I go through everything to get through HRT and maybe do the SRS, I'll end up regretting it. I'm not 100% sure and I need to find out how I can be.
[editline]stuff[/editline]
And for some reason even though I feel like a girl right now and its eating away at me and driving me into suicidal thoughts, I'm not bothered by being identified as a male. My roommate just called me dude and referred to me as a boy during our conversation and called me by my real name and I wasn't phased by it. Shouldn't I be cringing and feeling pain if I'm referred to as the wrong gender?
I'm still am little confused about it. I'm not sure if I'm feeling these for the wrong reason (i.e. just wanting to look cute because I think I'm ugly, just influenced by many transgender friends/internet, etc). I'm thinking about telling my mom I'm confused about my gender and I want professional help to help me determine what I want. What do you all think?

Go to a therapist and talk about it. They'll help you get to a definitive answer better than anyone else can.
Yeah, seeing a therapist is usually a good bet. That way once you're comfortable with telling your mother, you'll have some backing just in case she finds it questionable.
And, 19 isn't too late at all. as much as transitioning through puberty would be 'ideal', not doing so isn't the end of the world.

She wouldn't find it questionable though. I know she'd help me with seeking help. She already questioned me a lot because before I told her I was gay I told her I wanted to crossdressing. She already had a suspicion that I was transgender. I know she'll be supportive if I tell her and she'd help me find a therapist and stuff.
