And I should be starting hormones and T-blockers in August. Life is good.

Also, I wish I had a job at a bookstore. Books are sexy mmm.
Crossdressing thread. I need your help.
I'm a GID sufferer, have been for a while, killing me.
I want HRT but the problem is other people.
My only real friends are homophobes (thanks mum for sending me to a fucking religious school) and my mother is pretty homophobic as well, I'd rather not think what their stance on transgender people is.
I can't get it out of my head, I want it more than anything but other aspects are killing the dream.
I also want to know about the legal aspects, in Australia.
That's probably not coherent but thanks anyone. Love you guys.
All evidence seems to be pointing me towards hormones after I'm out of high school [18 or over]
:(
In terms of being surrounded by homophobes, I've been there. It sucks, but just wait a while. You'll be presented with an opportunity if it's something you want. See about transferring schools, or wait until you move out. And I believe Australian law is basically the same as US and UK laws on the subject, except maybe a bit more lenient with changing your legal sex.
And don't worry about not being able to start a hormone regiment until you're 18. Hormones can still do a lot at that age, and most people haven't developed super masculine traits by then. Not to brag, but look at me. I'm 17 1/2, and I can pass in the eyes of everyone that I meet. So don't worry about it, you'll get there if it's something you really want.

I agree with this, I only managed to start at 19 and I still consider myself quite passable. Though all of that is instantly nullified as soon as I say something. :v:

If there's one thing that's made me want to start on hormones so early. It's that school is like a huge hell for me.

Because you're not being associated with your desired sex by others? School counselors can be an overwhelmingly positive force in school life for people in these positions, you may want to get in touch with yours.

I did. She's the "depression is a choice" type.
Well, I might end up lucky enough to see the doctor and get referred to an endo before my next year starts.

Not a cross-dresser but that title made me laugh for quite some time

Hm. Interesting viewpoint.
Good for you. The more you progress, the better you'll feel.

Hey, stay positive. There's also a chance that you will get in. Just stay positive, show them that you're the kind of person they want there.

I'm trying but it's really hard to stay positive. Can't explain why.
Hm, everything tastes the same, wtf.

I know how that feels. But things will get better as time passes, I promise you that. Keep fighting for what you want, it'll get to you.

Not really much I can do since I'm a minor.

Just try to push through. I know it seems hopeless, but it really isn't. There's always a solution that you can be happy with, just give it some time. I live in freaking Texas and there are plenty of accepting people all around me. Opportunities will present themselves as things move forward.

I know, it's just that high school is really, really depressing right now. I hate being ostrasized by girls just because I'm a guy. I talk to them better than I do to guys and I can relate to them more. It just all around sucks here.

God dammit why didn't I go into the girl's P.E. class when my P.E. teacher gave me the offer?
That's understandable. Maybe try to find an LGBT support group in or near your town? Those can be very helpful with your social life. The people who are involved in things like that are more often than not absolutely wonderful, and can provide you with tons of mental support.

I already know of a support group but I'm absolutely terrified of talking to people. It's the main reason why it took me years to finally break the news to my mom and why I don't have that many friends. I can be an interesting person once you get to know me but I just have lots of lots of fear about talking to people.
It shouldn't be as bad as I'm making it out to be. Canada's supposed to be trans-friendly so it's probably my fault :/
[editline]22nd February 2012[/editline]
Welp, I better head off to bed I guess. It's 12:48 AM
Social anxiety can be overcome if it's not incredibly crippling. I used to have no friends whatsoever, and I spoke to no one, not even my parents. But I just decided that I was sick of that kind of life, so I forced myself to have conversations with people. Even if I didn't like them, I tried to speak with them as often as possible. And that worked well for me. I can speak to people with virtually no problems, and I have quite a few friends now. This may not be the answer for you, but it certainly helped me quite a bit, and I feel that I'm in a much better mental state now.
And yes, it is 2:00 AM here. Feel free to send me a PM or something if you'd like to talk some time.
