Won't need full medical and dental when someone has your kidneys, liver and eyes!
Please don't listen to people like this.
Is what you say to me, yet:
I know none of my advice is first hand and I've experienced nothing
:downs:
Is what you say to me, yet: :downs:
What's your point? Wait a minute, for a moment there I thought you were trying to put someone off the military because they're at risk!

Naw, the military is for pansies.
I've seen the Canadian military. I laughed.
Coming from an American, the Canadian military is perfectly capable of fucking shit up. They have soldiers in almost all of the conflicts that we do, and they do a damn good job fighting. Also:

dont listen to FP, follow your dreams. good luck i guess and hope you make it as that engineer or whatever
I wonder why the vast majority of facepunch is strongly against people signing up for the military?
I wonder why the vast majority of facepunch is strongly against people signing up for the military?
they're jealous of someone being brave and has the balls and such to go there and they get jealous also that they're doing something with their life is what im guessing :what:
they're jealous of someone being brave and has the balls and such to go there and they get jealous also that they're doing something with their life is what im guessing :what:
War is bad.
Like most things, Military service has it's ups and downs. Vet forums would be the place to ask for the most valuable advice. In my opinion, I think serving ones country presents many opportunities depending on where you live. It can pay for college, help you learn about yourself, and will always set you aside from the rest in most situations (especially employment consideration). There's always the risk though, but as an engineer or something else not seeing live combat the threat is less than that of infantry.
Postal Officer lol. TheOnlyHunter: Hey guys! I'm in the military now! Friend: Wow that's so cool, you in the infantry? The OnlyHunter: Nah, i deliver the post. Friend: *slap*
As far as im aware, snipers don't get up close and personal, they lay in a ditch over a about 700yards away with binoculars charting things, reconnaissance. And i don't think there has been a sniper death where they are fighting atm, not from the UK anyway.
You are farther away yes, but if you are captured your death will be slow and agonizing and you may have to be up close and personal different day different job. Like someone on page one said the lolz you gonna die comments will happen and be prepared for the oddest thing i experienced in highschool, using your future goals as insults. Exe. Douchebag finds out my friend wants to join the USMC and instantly starts refering to him as sarge and talks shit about how my friend is too dumb to go to college so he is joining the military. Im already in the military (US Navy) as a corpsman but my ultimate goal is to become a Navy SEAL. Ive already qualified but need to wait for my paperwork to go through and for another BUD/s class to start. Despite your goals douchbags always will exist, and by the way trying to have sex with female friends right before leaving for god knows how long does not work very well at least mine didnt respond.
I wonder why the vast majority of facepunch is strongly against people signing up for the military?
We respect soldiers, we don't respect what they're fighting for most of the time.
Just wanted to tell you, thank you for fueling the war machine. You are doing the world a favor.
I'm going for the Science degree at the Royal Military College. (Actually a university but called a college) Its nice cause tuition and supplys are free. They pay YOU to be there. Full medical and dental. Full Retirement benefits and pay after 20 years of service. If I want to get a masters degree I first have to work off the time it took me to get my previous degree. Oh and when I come out of RMC I am already a left-tenant
If you're going career military, then do whatever you want. Otherwise, aim for a specialty that can be used outside the armed forces. Personally, I plan to be career military.
War is bad when it can be avoided. Unfortunately, it is sometimes necessary.
Fixed.
But Afghanistan doesn't have Facepunch.
Being stuck in 100 degree weather under two layers of clothes and a kevlar, sometimes in full chemical warfare gear, while everyone around you wants to kill you. You also have sand in your asshole and you're lugging a 7 pound M16 that you can't fire without permission... Fun.

All in all total you'll probably be humping a good 100 -120 pounds of equipment up giant mountains and cliffs and shit. Oh and you don't have to ask mommy to fire at the enemy believe it or not.
5,000 Americans have died in Afghanistan and Iraq.
I realize that, Im American, Im enlisting in the Navy this year. My point is stop talking shit about Canada, they have casualties too.
Haha! Its funny cause Canada doesn't have a military.
