It's sort of like Apollo 13 with more Cold War intrigue (and also trippy ghost shit). You might not like it as much.
well if it's on Netflix ( Canada ) I think I will wacth it
I must admit the first time I watched the movie I was horribly confused... however after reading the books, I'm mesmerized by it.
Another great movie by Kubrick, and definitely among my favorites. Only real problem I had was the stargate sequence takes way too long and isn't fun unless you're on acid or something
Amazing film, if anyone is wondering why every scene seems to go just a bit to long its because in life there is alot of waiting Stanley expected space travel to be long and "boring" and he tried to re-create that in the movie but of course still being entertaining at the same time.

also, was anyone else creeped out by ligeti's requiem? shit's just got this weird haunting feel to it, and man do i love it.

In a distant halloween I will dress out as the monolith and slowly walk in the street with this music playing, occasionally stopping for when monkeys show up to glorify me

Fucking Netflix never has the classics. Wasn't there last I checked
Have you guys read Rendevouz with Rama? Just as good as 2001, but quite different. I've been waiting for a film adaptation for ages.
Basic plot: A cylindershaped object enters the solarsystem. Exploration time!

netflix no longer carries any kubrick film except for a clockwork orange and the killing (i think).
Still waiting for a Blu-ray to have those recently-discovered (2010) 17 minutes of post-premiere deleted scenes as extras.
