If you want to advance in any sort of career you're not going to be putting in those 9am-5pm hours, its as simple as that. That's just how life is. You're going to spend a lot of time away from home, and you're going to put in a hell of a lot of hours. You need to do what's more than expected of you. And good on that guy for quitting because he was fucking up the rest of the development team by not putting his share in that he was supposed to. They had every damn right to give him dirty looks and things, as they were getting fucked over by him leaving as now his work gets transferred to them. Hopefully they hired someone who actually gave a shit about the other members of the development team in his place. It's a development TEAM not a development "oh I'll leave when I want and fuck over everyone else's workflow".
Why does life need to be like that?
Why does life need to be like that?
If you feel like losing a promotion to someone who has that drive, then by all means, it doesn't have to be. Careers are competetive, if you don't fight tooth and nail for it, you'll lose out to people who are willing to.
Girlfriend is going to be dropped off, "For just a little while, I just want to talk". We've already had to "take a break" for a week. I didn't know it was gonna end this way so quickly. [editline]5th April 2015[/editline] Honestly it's really sudden. We've been dating for a year but then her mood took a turn for the worse just a couple weeks ago for no real reason.

It's basically what we're stuck with - the world has become that ridiculously competitive that unless you push yourself and keep pushing, you won't remain attractive enough in the eyes of your employers to warrant advancement, much less remain in your job if the moment comes that downsizing must needs occur.
Well Crap. On top of still feeling on the verge of a burnout lately due to seriously hectic university weeks, yesterday the hectic weeks were finally over and I thought that I could just kick back and relax. NOPE. All of a sudden yesterday night, my right ear started to bleed, and today I woke up with almost not hearing any sounds anymore out of my right ear. Gonna visit a doctor tomorrow, I just hope that this isnt permanmently damaged, this seriously sucks at the moment.
Bit late, but how did it go?

I mean a majority of your 24 hours. I mean up to 12-16 fucking hours of working. There is no way in the world you're going to justify to me staying even near that fucking long every day because 'that's how it is'.

Having said all this about Mass Effect 3 is there any way to get an ending where [sp]Shepard doesn't die[/sp] without grinding the crap out of a completely empty multiplayer my military thing is just under 5000 and doesn't look like it'll be going up at all (I failed to unite the Geth and the Quarians)?
I'm pretty sure there is, but it involves doing literally every other side quest.

But you have to do every sidequests and every DLCs in the previous 2 games i think.

If you're not willing to pull that chain, there are 50 others behind you willing to do so. Making games is neither cheap nor an easy task, and to make deadlines shit needs to happen, and in many cases that means long hours. Science, medicine, technology, 3 of the nost competetive fields where you will be pulling 12 hour shifts. If companies don't have workers who pull chain, they sink. Then that's even more people out if a job. @Skerion, because there many people out for that same job, that's why its competetive. if you really want to keep your job don't slack off, otherwise it'll go to someone who is willing to work competetively. [editline]5th April 2015[/editline] Obviously not all jobs and careers are like this, but tech jobs such as developing video games are extremely competetive. Even in the less competetive jobs you want to give it your all, as you reap what you sow.

I have no idea what caused it, and I'm sure it's my fault. Happy easter.
Gotta leave for work in a few minutes. My foot still really hurts. Plus it's easter and no overtime pay. Fuck that shit.

I'm looking at a job other people have, seeing that they're worked like slaves for about as much time (or more) than an 1800s factory worker, and thinking that's pretty fucked. I don't need a pretentious, holier than thou lecture about ~competitiveness~.
Instead of pumping out games fast (ubisoft, wit your multiple assassin's creed games that came out in the same year), pump out shows fast. I don't want to wait a year to watch some of my favorite series new seasons :'I I can however wait a year or more for video games. [editline]5th April 2015[/editline] Also getting fucking sick of that same guy posting MLP gmod shit in the DAAS thread. You know who you are. Oh my god we get it, you antagonize people on dA then post it in the thread for funnies, shut the fuck upppPPPP.

Peep show, a comedy show here in the UK, does a new season every four-ish years maybe? Probably the laziest production chain ever. But I honestly can't pay attention to a show for more than an hour and US TV shows have 23 hour seasons and like ten seasons, as if I can be arsed.

Damn. I figured [sp]Shep surviving[/sp] may have an impact on the next game even if he's not directly the protagonist.

I can't even imagine waiting that long for something on tv... I don't watch it usually, except for a show that's on every monday or tuesday, other than that I don't touch tv. Shows are way too eugh for me lately. :v:
Hearing about fucked up families makes me depressed. Is there anyone here with a perfectly normal family who enjoys each others company and gets out to do things?
Hearing about fucked up families makes me depressed. Is there anyone here with a perfectly normal family who enjoys each others company and gets out to do things?
I can safely say I've never met anybody in my 22 years of living that has a normal family, or a family that's together. It's really dang sad. :C
I'd say mine is pretty normal, but it's not much of a family.
Today I received a mail about my new computer that said they had set it aside for control. I look at my mail and it seems like the payment hadn't gone through. The mail then lists an account to which I can pay the money, so I just think I can get it over with and log on to netbank and find that the money is had been paid, and to Wupticom AS (the company I bought it from.)... I sent an e-mail to their customer service displaying my concern, but I'm kinda worried now
I hate being autistic, it does nothing but hinder me and cause me more pain than I want. I'm amazingly good at what I love but what use is that to others when it's stupid un-recreational crap. I get defeated on being talked down to and almost cry like I am now. I have to bottle it all in cause my family pushes me away if I swear while venting. I feel so fucking pathetic compared to normal people it honestly makes me ponder whether I should still breathe. I need a hug.
Hearing about fucked up families makes me depressed. Is there anyone here with a perfectly normal family who enjoys each others company and gets out to do things?
Yeah, I've got a decent family that gets along well with each other. My second oldest brother lives at college on weekdays and comes home for the weekend, and my oldest brother and his wife occasionally comes over to hang out and play a game like SSB4 or invite us over to their apartment. My oldest sister lives on the other side of the country with her husband but Mom and some others still talk to them via Facebook, facecam, or whatever. Honestly, after hearing about other's family troubles like what Mr. Sandman and FilmSlacker is going through, I feel that I should be content happy with the family I have despite how occasionally my parents would pester me to go to church/read Christian-based books in hopes of converting me into a Christian or how siblings may act a little annoying.
i shouldnt have had two cups of coffee in the span of 30 minutes i cant stop fidgeting, i have to move
MOTHER FUCKING SON OF A BITCH. I just typed out multiple paragraphs about something that pisses me off extremely, but you know what? I typed long enough that Firefox auto-logged me out, causing me to be unable to post it and lost all the progress. Splendid. [editline]5th April 2015[/editline] I'm typing this shit back out, but it's not going to be nearly as long. [editline]a[/editline] Alright, got this done.

Hearing about fucked up families makes me depressed. Is there anyone here with a perfectly normal family who enjoys each others company and gets out to do things?
Not mine! My little brother has been a piece of shit since he woke up. He went through his Easter basket picking out things he wanted, and just started handing me the shit he didn't want even after it was super apparent Mom was getting upset about it (for obvious reasons to us who understand the Easter bunny doesn't exist). Then, later, we went to a Easter party. He never left the car. He just sat there. All day. Didn't get out to say hi, didn't get out to eat, didn't get out to Easter-egg hunt, didn't even fucking get out so our aunt could take a picture with him! Then, on the way home, when our mom asked how we felt about our aunt and cousin staying with us for awhile, he said "no" like they had anywhere else to go when he knows she just separated from our uncle. Now all of this I could just brush it off and go "whatever he's a dumb ignorant 11-year-old he'll eventually quit being an ass" if I didn't get fucking yelled at whenever I bring up how much of an asshole he's being. I brought up that he was being ungrateful for the Easter basket thing, that one managed to fly, but every other time after that I got yelled at for trying to get him out of the car, I got yelled at for trying to get him to participate in anything, etc. People keep caving into his 'demands' when it's super fucking apparent he only gives a fuck about himself and his videogames. I take that back, he doesn't even care about himself. That much is evident when all he fucking does all day long is sit around on his ass getting fatter eating pizza playing TF2 in his piss-reeking room because he "accidentally" pisses in his chair all the time. In the hallway that connects my room, the bathroom, and his room, his smells the worst and causes the whole damn hallway to make me gag if I accidentally inhale on the way to my room. The fucking bathroom, where people have been pissing and shitting for over 25+ years, smells better than this dumbass' room. He doesn't even do his fucking schoolwork. His highest grade is like a C and he never practices his trombone. And I can't do a damn thing about it. If I bring any of this shit up, I'm being rude. Mom won't do anything about it, and refuses to let me do anything about it. If my dad was still here, he'd be raising hell on this insubordinate little shit. But, no, the only person who seems to give a fuck is always in the fucking wrong somehow.
That gets the general gist of it. I want to punch through a damn wall.
Hearing about fucked up families makes me depressed. Is there anyone here with a perfectly normal family who enjoys each others company and gets out to do things?
I have a normalish family. We don't do much together but nobody here hates each other to death. A month ago I did mention that my mom had some problems with alcohol but we have figured things out now so all is fine for most part. When I have doubts about my family and feel particularly annoyed, I realize it could be a lot worse because there's a Facepunch user whose little brother is a human minelayer who leaves behind a trail of sharted diapers and his parents refuse to listen to him. And one's parents hate him for no real reason and apparently even beat him when he was going through a Crohn's flare. Just makes me legitimately sad how many people here seem to have a dysfunctional family.
