The Dead Kenny G's. Saw them as the opening act for Primus and Gogol Bordello a while ago. They're kinda hard to describe. Jazz is a big part of it (it's a trio of a saxophonist, a bassist, and a drummer/xylophonist), but then it's got a really weird experimental sound to it, and there's even small amount of vague hardcore punk elements mixed in there at times. Oh yeah, and Down. They aren't completely unknown, I just hadn't heard any of their material until a few months ago. They're a New Orleans-based metal group with members from Pantera (Phil Anselmo is their vocalist, probably what they're best known for), Crowbar, Eyehategod, and Corrosion of Conformity. Even though they have half of Pantera in them, one can't really compare them to Pantera so much; they're less fast and more just low and heavy. Southern and blues influences are pretty prominent in their music and I really dig it.

Just went through the leak for it on youtube. It's beatiful, and their whole discography for me is very very swell for a Post Hardcore band

Well I "discovered" Front 242 about a week ago. I've known about them before and listened to some of their songs, but this time, I listened to pretty much all their music vids. It doesn't seem like I discovered them recently, even though its been only a week, but I listen to so much music that it seems like forever already. I'm kind of a music addict.
Seidr, I heard of them before but never really tried them out till now. But then I saw one of the members posted a link on his main project's last.fm page. They play pretty good Death Doom Metal.
I went to see Defiance Ohio with my cousins at a garage concert,I looked em up again and found them, Mischief Brew, and Against Me. Oh, and Flobots
Not necessarily an artist, but I am beginning to really like remixed stuff.
A lot of experimental stuff that people aren't listening to is what I've discovered :smug:
Haven't discovered many new bands recently. It's not a good thing, since I'm having trouble keeping interested in what I already have. But I guess the one thing I can think of would be Altar of Plagues. Also Nirvana as well, after hearing "Breed" on the radio. And yes, I have heard of them for a while. Never really listened to anything much though, and Breed managed to catch my attention. Also, started listening to that band Aberdeen City that was posted here. It's actually really good. So I guess them as well <:
Wata's split with Ai Aso.
Quite a lot of bands, so I'll list some of the best finds of 2011. Abyssphere: Russian Melodic Doom Metal. RoutaSielu: Finnish melodeath in Finnish. Vocals by multiband'er Tuomas Saukkonen. Released their debut 16/2, so it's bloody fresh. MyGrain: Sciency and Science-Fictiony Finnish Melodeath. Dreamshade: Swizz modern melodeath. Another reason for me to like Switzerland.
Fleet Foxes, a really neat folk rock band, a friend of mine told me to listen to their music. I'm pretty glad I did.
Myrath, I've advertised them more than once but no one ever seems to respond or listen, even made a thread that got a whopping 5 views. Also, really recently just got really deep into some classic Alice in Chains. Layne Staley was one fucking driven individual.
Nothing really low profile but I've been listening to Gojira and Children of Bodom a lot recently
Soundgarden

Born Ruffians
Dimmu Borgir
Sign Of The Southern Cross. Southern metal. Highly subjective as to whether or not they're any good, but I am liking what I've heard of theirs so far.
The Bravery
NiT GRit, Big Chocolate, pretty much any dubstep that I have grown a liking to. (read: a lot)
-Snip- post broke and I don't feel like fixing it.
