This is an injury which is going to be with me for years. I've been to the doctors many times, had many different painkillers given to me. Simple trips to the pharmacist isn't going to cure this. 5 months so far I think.
Doesn't matter, it's not an excuse to drink.
Dude, get some damn tiger balm, get yourself one of these and learn to lift properly. I've got a fucked back (deformed spine, waiting on getting an op) and I know how shitty back pain is.
Don't know how anyone can enjoy beer, can't stand the taste and it's always so frothy. In fact, the best beer I've ever had was Fosters because it tasted the most like water.
Now a good cider on the other hand, I can appreciate.
If you don't mind me asking, what beers have you tried? Seriously, there's so much variety that you can't say "I don't like beer".
Also anyone who says they don't drink to get drunk is a liar. In antiquity, the ethanol was for sterilisation but now that most first world countries have clean water, the only reason for essentially poisoning yourself is because you want to get drunk. Which, more often than not, is a good laugh.
Bullshit. I absolutely LOATHE being drunk however, I love beer. I will gladly drink a few but one I start feeling the effects I slow down and get some water. Been shitfaced enough times in my life and never enjoyed it once.
You haven't had bad beer until you've had Victorian Bitter or Tooheys New over here. It's such feral shit. But just so you can appreciate other kinds of beer even more, I would highly suggest getting some VB or Tooheys if you ever come down here.
I myself prefer stronger alcohol, particularly whiskey (I've only ever had Scotch and Bourbon though). I don't know if it was just the Bourbon I was drinking, but it tasted alot better than Scotch, which is usually alright. This Bourbon was just amazing, it was still strong but it was really smooth as well, it's probably the best alcohol I've ever had (and you wouldn't want to waste it by mixing it). I'll need to inquire about the age of the bottle and where it was from though, a brother got it for his birthday a few months ago.
I don't like vodka, it's simply too strong having it straight. Burns you really bad. The only other kind of strong alcohol I've had was Absinthe at a party once, that was amazing. Strong much like vodka, but it made up for it in the taste, kind of like liquorice almost.
My step mother had a friend whose son drank homebrew, he's dead now.

wow, i bet youre the life of the party...
Being drunk is good fun and so long as you dont do it all the time, and with the right people, it stays fun.
on a night out im usually on the vodka and coke. tastes prety good, and you can drink it without the gassy feeling you get from drinking beer. if were just heading for a sesh down the pub im mostly always on the ale. Brains is the local one while im in university and it used to be Bathans when i was back home in the midlands. home has moved down south now though and ive yet to try any of the beers down here.
im also fond of tesco value bitter. 68p for four cans! tastes like beer, and is pretty weak so good to drink if you dont want to get drunk.

I think I have Stockholm syndrome with VB, it's all I drink since it's cheap and I like the taste

Ugh I hate VB, has to be one of my least favorite beers.

A surprisingly large variety considering I can't stand the taste. I've tried every lager under the sun and quite a lot of locally brewed beers and ales but the branded ones I can remember Fosters, Carling, Carlsberg, Budweiser, San Miguel, Stella Artois, Becks, Heineken, Grolsch, Tuborg, Old Speckled Hen, Hobgoblin, Exmoor Beast, London Porter and Guinness. Plus various draught ales/bitter that I tried down the pub and didn't get the name of.
I liked none of these and so I think it's safe to assume it is highly unlikely that I will enjoy the taste of other beers.
Edelweiss is delicious, if you like white beers, you should try it.
I once drank a whole bottle of whiskey, then I lost my legs and cried about it. I found them again the following day though.
Fun experience.

Try Taybeh beer.
They say it's micro-brew quality at mass brew quantities and price.
More interestingly it's the only Palestinian beer and is sold in Germany. Don't know if there are any in the UK.

But I can understand if you are more of a spirits guy.

I'm always open to new things so I'll keep my eye out, but I can't make any promises!
But I'm more of a white wine, cider and jagerbomb kind of guy.
How long would one of those heineken 5l mini kegs last you and 8 other people for one night?
uhhh long, anyone with a right mind wouldnt drink Heineken for gold.
Heineken quality is even below the cheapest beer u can find in the average Dutch supermarket.
If u want some good Duch beers try Hertog Jan, Grolsch, Amstel or Bavaria.
So I went out last night to a pub quiz, and they happened to have a like an 'ale lecture' type of thing on before the quiz given by Marston's, which I thought was pretty cool. Then they started giving out free samples. Now I'm not normally an ale drinker I prefer lager, but I had like 7 or 8 free samples a quarter pint each of these different ales and it was amazing, didn't pay for a single one!
Anyway I've been drinking since I was like 14 and I'm sort of over the cheap vodka phase. For the past year my 'relaxing drink with a cigarette' (as in like, not going out) has been port. I fucking love port. I don't really know about port though and which brands of port are meant to be good, does anyone have any pointers?

Oh god, VB tastes like plastic. If we're going Aussie - Little Creatures or Mountain Goat please!
wow, i bet youre the life of the party...
Wow, I bet it took you a while to think that up...
I get drunk, sure... but merry, not out of it. I know my limits and know when it's time to stop. There are a LOT of people who don't.
im also fond of tesco value bitter. 68p for four cans! tastes like beer, and is pretty weak so good to drink if you dont want to get drunk.
With this statement you have completely invalidated anything you've ever posted in this thread. I'm not trying to be elite or snobbish here, but why would you drink something that's the equivelent to cats piss?

I'd say that's debatable. All those lagers are pretty simular, and the ales that have been named, while popular and readily available, aren't all that good. Perhaps you should try different styles of beer, like imperial stouts or double IPA's.

What about De Molen, La Trappe or to a lesser extent, Texels?
Some people drink cheap beer just because they are thirsty, deal with it.

beer dehydrates you so that's not very smart
Some people drink cheap beer just because they are thirsty, deal with it.
I'm not saying "don't drink cheap beer", I'm saying "why not actually drink something decent so you can form an opinion, as most stuff is shit." The thing is, Britain has such a heritage with beer and it's wasted.
I'm partial to shitty drinks now and then, I have a bottle of export strength (50%) Minttu lying around. Surely though, if you're thirsty, you'd drink something that would actually hydrate you?
beer dehydrates you so that's not very smart
that's why all the beer i drink have about 95% of antidehydrants

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
Two days ago I set a message on the till at work, stating -
"Next person to ask for Timmy Taylors gets barred. Merry Christmas"
Ok, I understand it's a regional bitter, fine. But, where I work is not that kind of place. We sell speciality beers and not the sort of thing you can get at your local.
Screw christmas drinkers.

Well, what would you like to know? We have over 3000 beers in our portfolio. Around 160 for sale at any one time.

A very small company that specialises in distribution of foreign beers to bars, which also has 2 bars in London and a retail outlet.
