Aye. Only the basic super cheap option. The only reason I invested was because I had some premium bonds money floating around. I really don't like the way they run themselves as a business, a total shambles.
Yeah I'm the same, mainly due to being a student with little to no money. I know what you mean about how they run, it's a shame. I met James at the Ghost Deer launch here in Edinburgh earlier in the year and he really seems like a great guy. That and they make superb beer and I'm hardly ever out of the bar so I thought I'd save myself some in the long run
That's debateable, try these on for size -
Redemption Brewing Trinity (3.0%ABV, from Tottenham of all places)
Oakham Ales Citra (4.2%ABV, Peterborough)
Both examples of exceptionally hoppy beers at low ABV's. Trinity is rediculously drinkable.
Yeah I was just being facetious, I'm never one to write off stuff like that, my main experience with craft beer has largely been in the higher content stuff: Stone, Mikkeller, Brewdog and the like
Which IPA? They have a TON with different hops. Where did you have it?
That lot cost me £30, the growler fill cost around £20. Well worth it, I'll gladly pay for good beer.
The brewery is located just off druid street (official address is 98 druid street, visitors address is 1 ropewalk, which is off millstream road. It's about a 10-15 minute walk from London Bridge station.
I honestly can't remember, it's been a while. I think it might have been the one listed purely as a Pale Ale if such a thing exists. I'm heading to the bar today so I'll probably try a couple.
Pretty good price for good stuff! I'll need to get more acquainted with them, I'm still fairly new to the craft beer scene.
Aha, is it generally open? Is there a tour or something or is it just like a brewery shop? I'll need to check it out on my next trip to London.
My friend gave me a cocktail once that made me puke, worst part is I don't even remember drinking it
I remember when I was younger having a couple of concoctions. Only thing which has reliably made me hurl.
Worst I remember was Bud, Grolsch, Famous Grouse, Absolut Cherry, Jager, Blue WKD and some Tic Tacs. Bleugh
Does everyone like me have a difference in between 'drinks you drink when you go out' and 'drinks you drink when you want a drink at home'. Like, lately I've been fancying myself a bit of a posh drinker, sipping things like wine and port when I'm at home (this stemmed from my want to bang a posh girl like Big Suze off of Peep Show - I'm pretty working class myself) but then when I go out it's shots and lagers for predrinking and when you're just sitting down in the club / at the pub, and some cheap alcopop for the dancefloor. Lately I'm a big fan of tequila when I'm out, it gets me absolutely rendered and I think it tastes all right, I don't see what everyone's problem is with it.
I don't drink at home, I only get on it like a petrarchan sonnet when it comes to drinks so I never have any booze in my house
My package arrived today :D

Oh god.
I could imagine Maynard James Keenan's wine would be nice to try, but Marilyn Mansons absinthe? No thanks.
Tell us how it is.
imo beers with over 6% alcohol is shit, the more alcohol the more bitter taste
Try Kasteelbier Donker (dark?) and Rochefort 10, they're over 10% and quite sweet.
I thought real absinthe was 70%.
Now I love cinnamon. As in FUCKING LOVE cinnamon.
Would anyone be so kind as to point out some strong cinnamon liquor (liquers are fine too) for me to indulge in.

You aren't forced to put to put others in danger when you drink. Drinking at home, probably alone, is probably a sign of alcoholism.
You know what they call it, moderation. Oh and don't forget to take your judgement with you!
I wouldn't call it alcoholism just because one does not feel like going out due to whatever reason, and the fact they sell drinks in bottles and cans at the supermarket obviously mean they're for drinking AT HOME. Instead of going out and blowing a shitload of money and making a fool out of yourself, is what I think he's saying.

Aye. I've met James twice now. First at an event at work, which was absolute chaos, and the second in Stratford at our other bar. He's a nice guy behind the "omg punxxx lol" persona, and does know what he's doing in regards to beer.

General naming convention for Kernel pale ales and ipa's includes the names of the hops used on the bottle.
As for the brewery, they open saturdays 10-2 to sell direct. I'm sure if you asked nice they'd show you around if it weren't too busy.
Anyway... Is it crazy that I've never been sick when drunk?

I always thought the proper absinthe was the 90 percent stuff
I always thought the proper absinthe was the 90 percent stuff
That's everclear.
But drink that and you get brain damage, not inspiration.
That's everclear.

Uhhh no, most of the absinthe in liquor stores over here is 90 percent. Its because you aren't meant to drink absinthe straight.
I got drunk 2 weekends ago, took a 70 mg vyvanse(strong add medication) and ended up drinking a fifth of southern comfort, 13 beers, and smoked my first cigarrete. I was completely trashed, threw up a few times, tried to get a girl to come in some woods with me and suck my dick after i took a piss, and woke up in a mcdonalds 30 miles from the party, with a vomit encrusted door panel, in my backseat.
No idea how i got there.
[editline]24th December 2011[/editline]
Oh and brew your own moonshine, its a lot cheaper and you can fiddle around and make it pretty good tasting.
Got a few mason jars lying around(;
Had some Vecchia Romagna brandy today for christmas dinner, home brewn cherry wine, and now in the early morning some bowmore whisky
Ex Sainsburys here, used to the same thing too. For us though it wasn't Basics Lager, it was Basics Cider, in the big ol' bottles. We'd get people who'd come in daily for it.
Nice. I've had about 70 beers from their list, good selection but also a lot of us only beers there.
I love the pub I work in, but our website is crap. Here's an article from TimeOut, every pub on this list is great.
http://www.timeout.com/london/feature/1700/londons-best-craft-beer-bars (the place I work at is 9th down and looks a LOT different than that now)
Well, that place likes to focus on local brews from the Kansas/Missouri/Colorado area, but they also include foreign and harder to find beers as well.
Ugh, I drink a lot of Bud Light. I've drank a lot of other brands though. I think Yuenglings are my favorite.
I've been drinking a lot. Won 3 beer pong games in a row like two nights ago.
Drinking bud light right now too :I
[editline]25th December 2011[/editline]
Had whipped cream flavored vodka and 7up a few nights ago. That was good.
Tasted like cream soda.
&&,
I had a lot of champagne at a party like 2 weeks ago. I have decided I love it.
going to try some Kraken this holiday season.

Yeah I know, tried to make a stupid joke. But a lot of people I talked tried to drank absinthe straight. Man were they dumb.
And for some reason aniseed is an iincredibly popular addition to liqours, hell even arabs have Arak, an aniseed liquor.

Sorr about that joke going over the top of my head, I've heard too many dumb opinions about absinthe in my life :v:
I hate people who drink it straight its such a waste!

The only person who could actually take it straight is this guy who prepares chili-alcohol infusions at home. And drinks it regularly.
The rest all got blasted away by the stuff.

Yeah I know what you mean. I suppose the persona is necessary considering Brewdog's marketing style and general work ethic, but he is a really nice guy and like you say he really knows his stuff.
You're just getting started there, boy ;)
Tell me about it! I'm looking to develop my tastes as well as my knowledge of the jargon. Any advice on good sites to further my knowledge?

Pretty sure it was one of the Pale Ales, the Super Centennial maybe? It was enjoyable, bit too subtle taste-wise though. Didn't really have whole lot of flavour to me.
So much... beer.... ugh..

Not really, cheap vodka is pretty drinkable when mixed. My opinion after a box of 10 bottles of the cheapest shit.
The really good stuff is made to be drunk neat, not mixed with some sugar-water.
