Yea its average but its pretty sweet for a part time job, and ill get a pay rise when im a manager. And no I had no experience working in a bar before I got the job
Alright, sounds pretty cool then, I'll try getting something when I have the time
btw what type of bar do you work in? If it's like, a pub, or more of a cocktail bar. And whats the most requested drinks?
I worked as bar staff at the York racecourse once and it was awful. I'd be able to handle work in a proper honest pub but when you're working for scum, serving scum and being treated like scum it's pretty shite.
On a happier note, does anyone else here brew their own beer? A couple of mates and I have been brewing for about 6 months now, we've had mostly success, which is nice. Mostly we're doing 5 gallons at a time, but we did one or two 1 gallon experiments which worked out ok. We're hoping to expand our little operation after we finish uni, might even start a microbrewery one day

Mine is a bar and cafe so we serve nice food as well, and we book out rooms for functions (its a really big bar) such as engagement parties, 21sts, bikini competitions etc and the most requested drinks are beer and wine.
And do you serve cocktails? I want to be a bartender to make cocktails, and also to meet people, but mostly cocktails :v:
21st birthday in less than 2 months, woo
Got a bottle of 12-year-old Chivas Regal from my grandmother

Gin and tonic is probably my third favourite drink these days after navy rum and real ale tbh. I'm considering getting a bottle of bombay sapphire as a little housewarming present for myself - export strength obvs

thats a real shame
I thought I'd resurrect this thread. Has anyone tried Dr. Pepper and Cointreu before? I think it might be good
I didnt want to bump this thread but now that someone did, i might aswell just ask this thread too.
Now, first of all, i dont know shit about alcoholic beverages except beer.
So this girl im dating is visiting me for 2-5 days on the holidays, and i need some semi-romantic drink that is not bitter. The volume should be 10-20%.
For example; watching a movie while snuggling on a couch and drinking to enjoy, not to get drunk. What beverage would be fitting to this situation?

wine

Can't really go wrong with wine.
Also, I'm getting a bottle of Lagavulin for my Christmas. Can't wait.
Yeager BOMB :)
I drank 3/4ths of a jar (quart) of moonshine last night and smoked weed 4 or 5 times.
As some of you know, I am able to drink pretty much anything without hardly feeling the effects. I made a thread once explaining this.
I'm not sure how I survived, but I really felt the effects this time. I managed to drive myself home after a few glasses of water. Walked straight upstairs, and fell over on my bed.
Big mistake.
Sitting down seemed to force all of that fucking alcohol into my stomach or something all at once. I puked a motherload.
For those of you who don't know, I drank close to 16 shots of 160-190 proof.
I woke up, and I feel a sort of throbbing in my belly, around the area where my ribs meet my abdomen. Not sure if I'm okay.
If I would have been pulled over, I'd probably be in jail 10 years automatically since my blood-alcohol level would be about .406%
From this moment on, I am never drinking moonshine like that again. Fuck moonshine in general, actually.

Some fancy shit for wine, if you're interested. (No clue if you are, please don't tear my head off if I've done something wrong.
I like wine. Been drunk off of wine more than hard liquor or beer.
Im sick of people bragging about what they drank some night before at a party like "Oh, I drank 3 shots of tequilaaaa.., 2 vodka buuulls and a jack daniels colaaa.." like that was the most hardcore thing you did your whole life. Whats cool isnt how much you drink, it's what you did that night"
Also, tequila shots arent hardcore, theyre as strong as any other shot
And even though I cant blame it on anyone, I feel people should at least know a bit about what theyre drinking and all that. The real cocktails are now left to the special places, while parties are filled with the so called "cocktails". Come on, Jack & Coke, Vodka & RedBull or Lemon or whatever, those are hardly cocktails to me, because youre not really doing anything.
And for those that think that the drinks above are actually cocktails, go drink a real cocktail like a manhattan, an old fashioned, a negroni or even a tom collins, those are the good cocktails.
What I can blame though is how some people rate how good a cocktail is based on how strong it is. Like, do you even taste it? How about fucking just drinking the spirit alone?
Well, rant over.

also, we got a fridge to ourselves in my university studio a couple of days ago. I'm gonna start building a bar in university

I thought tequila is not "tequila" unless it is 50%ABV (100 Proof) and made with a certain plant? I think that's certainly more "potent" if you will than vodka and most other types of hard liquor.
I agree, however, that it doesn't make you more hardcore by any means, but I am just saying.
its only real tequila if its 100% Agave. As to alcohol content, I think most spirits would be around 40% (80-90 proof), but a lot of other spirits like vodka, whiskey, gin and rum are also around that.
This guy explains why Jose Cuervo Especial is shit, and what a good tequila is. (Basically, its just 51% tequila, and the rest is shit thats bad for you)

But anyway, like I said, tequila shots dont make you look hard or tough, its mostly just party girls screaming and all that shit

I can also add to the list of "popular drinking mistakes: Asking for less ice to make the drink stronger

Oh and Malibu Coconut Rum, that shit is just nasty to me, but if people like it, oh well

taking alcohol serious........
"If they cant taste the difference they are a lost cause"
I've seen enough.
I don't like liquor by itself/with ice. The only alcohol I tolerate are mixed drinks.
I'm the biggest pussy in the world because I love some strawberry daiquiri.

It's just like drinking any other liquor, terrible initial taste but it leaves your mouth feeling like a clean forest
Want to make a refreshing drink after a long day of work?
Here's how:
Moscow Apple
* 1 lime
* 4cl / 1.35oz of vodka
* Apple juice
Add a generous amount of ice to a high ball glass. Cut the lime into fours and squeeze the juice into the glass. Put the limes into the glass.
Add the vodka and fill the glass with apple juice and give it a little stir.
Tastes awesome!

awesome, isnt it a bit too sour though?
I just finished my first bottle of Johnnie Walker Black label, had it all on rocks. Really nice!
christmas is upon us! it's time for an incredibly unhealthy but amazing hot drink to help you get extra cozy with someone under some mistletoe:
hot buttered rum also known as a hot toddy. recipe is in the pic, but what i do is replace the rum with whiskey, usually jack daniels honey whiskey goes well with this

My brother decided to bring vodka home and took it to my room to share with me. So I ended up taking 6 shots of vodka. We had a bet as to how well I could play League of Legends drunk. It wasn't pretty.
