Huh, I'm surprised ME3 didn't get in to the trailer section. It had a pretty great trailer.
The games themselves might be more pretentious but I bet their devs aren't nearly as pretentious as Phil Fish
You'd think so, but I've been unable to enjoy Journey since I saw the developer interviewed in WIRED. He talked about the game like it was some sort of spiritual experience. Combine that with WIREDs move towards sensationalism and hipster garbage the whole thing was insufferably condescending. I'll see if I can find the article.
It's the /v/ awards. What else does one expect from them.
eh, I wouldn't associate it with /v/ anymore. Ever sine last year everyone on there hated it, and definitely didn't want it again.
eh, I wouldn't associate it with /v/ anymore. Ever sine last year everyone on there hated it, and definitely didn't want it again.
I'm surprised the people behind the awards even want the awards to be associated with /v/.
the hell game grumps are in worst youtube personalities
I don't see the problem there. Oh boy another generic "let's play" youtube channel...
Spec Ops deserves most feels.
Spec Ops deserves most feels.
this is a pretty interesting video by a guy I played ts with once, each to his own however I'm having trouble deciding between a lot of these - for example dishonored vs the walking dead
I haven't played many feels games
The Walking Dead is a must play if you haven't tried it yet - it's one of the big nominees for a few categories this year, too
I haven't played many feels games
For straight feels? KS. For a good game with feels? Walking Dead.
Game Grumps also spent a lot of time being advertised constantly on /v/. That might have a lot to do with why they're there.
black ops 2, ME3, or tropes vs women for biggest cashgrab? hm...
black ops 2, ME3, or tropes vs women for biggest cashgrab? hm...
I'm voting for tropes VS women. Blops 2 and ME3 are decently fun games IMO, but tropes VS women was a legitimate cash grab.
black ops 2, ME3, or tropes vs women for biggest cashgrab? hm...
blops
black ops 2, ME3, or tropes vs women for biggest cashgrab? hm...
Tropes vs women, Black ops at least tried to be different.
Tropes vs women, Black ops at least tried to be different.
but it was donate only, cashgrab implies a scam. The donaters got what they wanted, which was a series of youtube videos on her channel. It was very clear on what she would do with the funds, and what would be produced. It wasn't a product for sale.

There wasn't really false advertisement on either product (though ME advertisements did take some quotes out of context...)
Tropes vs women, Black ops at least tried to be different.
yeah i think i'll go with tropes i actually enjoyed blops2 and some of it was actually refreshingly new

Didn't that one bitch get donated like millions of games that had nothing to do with what she was supposed to research? [editline]31st December 2012[/editline]
yeah i think i'll go with tropes i actually enjoyed blops2 and some of it was actually refreshingly new
Only problem I have with Blops 2 is that smg's are kings of everything at the moment, but I trust Treyarch, they balanced the first blops after release a bunch.
but it was donate only, cashgrab implies a scam. The donaters got what they wanted, which was a series of youtube videos on her channel.
but it was donate only, cashgrab implies a scam. The donaters got what they wanted, which was a series of youtube videos on her channel. It was very clear on what she would do with the funds, and what would be produced. It wasn't a product for sale.
It might have been donate only but it's been 7 months since she started raising money for it and has yet to post a single video from the series. Why she even needed Kickstarter funding for continuing to produce what are essentially the same videos she's been making for years now is beyond me. Additionally she intentionally misled people about the costs of producing the series. She already has decent recording equipment, she clearly already has consoles necessary for researching the series, she claims to have lots of experience with video games which implies she owns at least some of the titles she plans on shitting all over. It's a cashgrab in the sense that she requested money to do something she had already been doing, played on the rightfully garnered controversy to justify what she was doing, then has failed to deliver what she promised donors. War-Z is still a bigger cash grab though, as it pulled everything Tropes Vs. Women did and worse.
Neither was blops 2 or ME. You bought blops 2 or ME you got blops 2 or ME. There wasn't really false advertisement on either product (though ME advertisements did take some quotes out of context...)
The advertisements weren't necessarily false, but considering developers pay off reviewers, the only real way to get a decent idea of what you're buying is through piracy, and the same video game publishers who spread misleading information about their product also try pretty hard to prevent that.
the problems with CoD is similar to allot of TF2 map's problems like 2fort. No one does the objective, everything is either OP or useless, no one does the objective, no one does the objective, basically it's just shooting, and getting killed by 1 pistol shot to the head, near instant respawn, do it again. No real purpose, like HL2 Deathmatch but more maps and guns. It's gimmick/marketing thing is that it's an fps, like "hey guys you can shoot in this game", like at this point in gaming we all just wanna play simple shooters that don't ever get deeper than pub play.
A lot of games seem to have this problem, unfortunately. I've been playing a good deal of Battlefield 3 with my friends lately and, even though we're not particularly good at the "shoot the other guys" part, we still find ourselves at or near the top of the leader board because literally all we do is capture objectives.

Too bad the community doesn't understand that you should actually play as a team.
Dear Esther better win for best visuals and feels. Just like the walking dead should probably win best writing. They both don't really have any gameplay at all, but goddamn it they were great in other areas. [editline]1st January 2013[/editline] Also why is Dear Esther not a nominee in best soundtrack, the soundtrack is fucking phenomenal. It doesn't deserve to win, but if it weren't for the soundtrack the game would be way less atmospheric.
-snip-
I liked Dear Esther, but why is it up for feels? Won't be surprised if it wins best visuals though.
I want to see Gravity Rush win best music. I know it won't, though. There's only approximately 10 people on earth who have a Vita. ;~;
Hitman: absolution was great but it can't be in Best Gameplay? It can only be in bad stuff? What's wrong with this guy?
