Hitman: absolution was great but it can't be in Best Gameplay?
It can only be in bad stuff?
What's wrong with this guy?
/v/ really hates absolution.
A lot of games seem to have this problem, unfortunately. I've been playing a good deal of Battlefield 3 with my friends lately and, even though we're not particularly good at the "shoot the other guys" part, we still find ourselves at or near the top of the leader board because literally all we do is capture objectives.
That's what I loved about BFBC2 (only BF I have played, might get BF4 when it comes out). Somehow it seemed immune to what CoD and most of TF2 suffer from (braindead pubs). Like people actually tried to do the objectives, and would type in the chat to do the objective once something went up (defuse the bomb!).
I want to try to come up with an explanation for this, but I don't know how BF somehow attracted people who actually wanted to do more than pretend this is HL2:DM. Cause TF2 and CoD sure can't attract those players
You guys know like, half of this is satire, right? Its /V/ for crying out loud.
I liked Dear Esther, but why is it up for feels?
Won't be surprised if it wins best visuals though.
If you understand the whole underlying story it can create a lot of sad emotions. And the atmosphere is already breathtaking and moving on it's own. Out of anything I have ever played I don't think I have had an atmosphere emotionally move me quite as much as Dear Esther, not even Half-Life 2. Just the environments and the music and the feeling of loneliness, it's all so amazing.
Also about the whole kind of gist of the story behind whats going on in dear ester, at least the one that is most implied by the developers because you can kind of interpret it yourself. [sp] You are playing as a woman named Esther stuck in a dream either induced by a coma, or death, after a car crash that was your partner's (the man who speaks poetry in the game) fault. Your character's partner is reading his letters to you in the hospital bed as you are exploring the island your sub-conscious created. The journey finally ends as you take a suicidal leap off a radio tower at the top of the island and you right before you hit the ground you suddenly start flying, which I assume that means she died in the hospital, or something.[/sp] All of that was implied through poetry and symbolism throughout the island you explore, and it was really subtle and amazing to me.
So yeah I really liked Dear Esther but I think Max Payne 3 is my fav game of the year.

Just pick Ben.
I can't decide if I'm going to give pewdiepie or totalbiscuit worst youtube channel, pewdiepie's worse objectively but TB personally annoys me more.
I love how Katawa Shoujo and Borderlands 2 are in every fucking category
I want borderlands 2 to win most hated and best game of the year
anyway my GOTY is BL2, most replay value, most fun, sure it's got DLC and ponycancer but it's at least FUN

I'm thinking.
Ben is a jackass who sold out the group.
Diana is an ugly bitch who was useless.
Claptrap is an annoying cunt.
Connor is a naive BORING cunt.

Don't forget that it has one of the best villains ever.
I'm pretty certain my GOTY is either XCOM or Hotline Miami
MOST FEELS
Spec Ops: The Line
The Walking Dead
Help me know what I'm gonna choose.
Don't forget that it has one of the best villains ever.
I wouldn't toss that around so easily. Handsome Jack was a funny character, and EXCELLENTLY performed, but as an actual villain I thought he was a bit silly. He seemed too over the top evil to be taken realistically.
My alltime favorite villain shall always be Andrew Ryan.

Spec Ops actually gave me more feels than Walking Dead. Walking Dead is fucking sad, but predictable, really. I could see the ending coming from episode 1.
Spec Ops however pretty much made me catoconic, as it was the journey of descending into madness.
Handsome jack was suppose to be funny and evil at the same time but it was more like this
First half:poines and ranbows and pretzelles and money oh i'm so rich vvault huinter arent you jellaous
Second half:I'LL KILL YOU VAULT HUNTER:and other assorted screams of pure rage by handsome jack. Available now for three easy payments of 19.99 call now and receive a bonus tape!
He was still a pretty great bad dude, Definitely felt ready to put him in the ground while i was playing the game.
if Max Payne 3 doesn't win best soundtrack by the way I'm fucking reaching through the internet and punching you in the dick

I get that this is a remake of the song from 2 but fuck you this is one of the best fucking pieces of music I've ever heard from a video game, honestly, it captures the Noir feel of Max Payne so hard, never before have I heard a theme that can depress you and empower at the same time.

Whoa, whoa whoa, back up. I get what the story was, like I said, its one of my favorites. Like you said, Dear Esther is all about subtly and atmosphere, I was questioning what it was doing there with the 'gut wrenching' feels that were common in the other games. DE was very good at making you feel alone, wondering an island and enjoying the scenery while you tried to piece together exactly what happened to all the characters, but it never brought me to tears.
am I the only one who thinks it's slightly bullshit that Sleeping Dogs is nominated for GOTY
like it's fine but it's a 7/10 really, it's not that great. I'dve put BL2 in there.

i like how they blame casual gamers for making games simpler rather than the companies doing dumb shit to try and win them over.
Calling it now, Walking Dead for "Feel Award".

It's not hammy enough to bring you to tears. It's not forcing you to feel any sort of extreme emotions, it's more of a subtle euphoric and melancholy feel. It makes you kind of feel the atmosphere. After it was over it kind of brought chills and then a solemn feeling afterwards, and that stands out a lot more than the rest of the nominees.
Calling it now, Walking Dead for "Feel Award".
TWD will win because of the mainstream popularity vote
I like walking dead a lot, I thought it was fun, but i thought it was too predictable
Spec Ops is far more deserving, as it's one of the most powerful emotional games I've ever seen, really. It's bogged down by boring gameplay but it is seriously one of the coolest game stories I've ever seen
/v/ dislikes game grumps for having fun with games.
No, but seriously, I think they don't like ego's opinions and how he rates video games in things like sequelitis. And I think they legitimately hate Jon because he's really wishy-washy with his opinions. iono.
/v/ REALLY hated Jon at first as he was often blamed for "dragging ego down". Over time they've gotten more tolerant of him, but they'll never actually like him.
Inversely Ego started out being liked because they only knew about his opinions through sequelitus, but they started taking him less seriously when they saw how bad he is at video games and started to really dislike him when he talked about some of his other opinions.

really great one as well, very weird and original.
if Gash Gahrsts wins worst youtube personas I feel Jon and Arin will have a big laugh about it on an episode
I can't decide between Pewd or Tobuscus since the both of them are completely unfunny money grubbers
Jon and Arin are at least shown to be pretty fun guys who love their fans to death
also Jon and Arin can't be money grubbing sicne they don't fucking make videos abnymore

I'm decently sure Pewdiepie has Worst Youtuber in the bag.
Somewhat surprised Hotline Miami isn't in the 'Glitchiest' game category. I fucking love that game, but goddamn if it didn't have some nasty issues from time to time.
Although, then again perhaps a few quickly resolved crashes or failures to launch is small potatoes compared to what was present in games like the War Z or Planetside 2.
I'm surprised they used Metacritic for the "corrupt journalism" bar and not Kotaku. Kotaku pisses /v/ off so much that it's almost a rule not to link to Kotaku articles so they don't get traffic.
