If a child is its parents' property and they can do whatever they like to it, why do we have child abuse laws?
To keep them from ABUSING their children? :v:
To keep them from ABUSING their children? :v:
Ah yes, but they're theirs. So why can't they? I can abuse my car. Why can't I abuse a child if they are MY property?
What if you want to go swimming naked in a lake, what if you get something inside your underwear, what will you do when you don't have any clothes anymore? [editline]2nd October 2011[/editline] by that sense we can just remove all the skin on our body because we have clothes to protect us
So many what-ifs, generally, you're going to have clothes. There is a difference between all the skin on your body, and a small section of it, what you just said is like saying "I have to get my appendix removed? Why not remove all of my organs then?"
yeah but you see what i mean right? But why would you want to be circumcised if you do not absolutely have to? [editline]2nd October 2011[/editline]
Ah yes, but they're theirs. So why can't they? I can abuse my car.
What are the positives to leaving the child uncirc? What are the positives to circ? Because so far, all I've really heard positively is that supposedly leaving the kid uncirc. means better sex pleasure in the future, which really isn't an issue, because other mind-problem reasons(uncirc doesnt know what it feels like to be circ. circ doesnt know what it feels like to be uncirc[unless done later in life, but that's not the issue here]). But push that aside, and we have the issue of we shouldn't circ because the kid doesn't have the choice. Really, if circumcising will be more hygienic and prevent future medical problems, is letting the kid have the choice really important?
Earlobes are completely cosmetic, and they have no use other than making you feel better about looking more like everyone else. If we found a hygenic way to do it a birth, it shouldn't be an issue if the kid chooses or not, right? Right?
but earlobes aren't likely to get infected and don't typically lead to medical problems.
Neither is the foreskin, unless you are an idiot and don't clean it
To keep them from ABUSING their children? :v:
Generally, lopping bits off your children without their consent or anaesthetic is considered abuse.
Generally, lopping bits off your children without their consent or anaesthetic is considered abuse.
very good way of putting it
-snip- woops. didn't mean to post this one
Right.
so you're saying I should be able to make cosmetic changes to my hypothetical child without their consent? even though circumcision is hardly just cosmetic and is actually quite a larger deal than that, seeing as you're changing their body and how it functions as well.
Earlobes are completely cosmetic, and they have no use other than making you feel better about looking more like everyone else. If we found a hygenic way to do it a birth, it shouldn't be an issue if the kid chooses or not, right? Right?
Right. But not for cosmetic purposes. I don't agree with doing it for the kid to "be like everyone else" I'm purely for the whole medical and hygienic reasons and if there was good reason to do something like that at birth to prevent suffering of my child in the future, I would do it. Because I'd want to protect him/her even if there was a possibility that there would never be any infection or tightening or sleepless nights. I would care for my child. And don't use my words out of context because I am in NO way saying if you don't circumcise your child then you don't care. Obviously you care for your child in a different way by not wanting to harm them at birth. But it's an "if this, then that'' situation. It just calls for respecting of the differences.

whenever i think of circumcisions i think of blood spouting all over the place from where the cuts were made all over the head of your dick
you're right circumcision isn't just cosmetic. it also prevents infections
nice! you just provided nothing to the discussion and already made a point that has been thoroughly refuted a million times already in this thread. plus i feel like im missing out :(
nice! you just provided nothing to the discussion and already made a point that has been thoroughly refuted a million times already in this thread.
no, it's had internet losers kicking and screaming saying NO IT'S NOT TRUE IT CAN'T BE TRUE
About 98% of males never suffer from any kind of problems with their foreskin, and when they do it's either something in their genes or they were lazy fucks and never washed. In case you haven't heard all of Europe, half of Africa, all of South America, most of North America, and about 75% of Asia have their entire dicks and they don't have any problems. If dick infections were so widespread every male on the planet would be circumcised, but they're not, it's a cultural thing and has literally no benefit, and any supposed benefits from it can be obtained by practicing basic hygiene. Deal /w it.
Well, fuck. I've run out of counter arguments. I'm tossing in the towel.
no, it's had internet losers kicking and screaming saying NO IT'S NOT TRUE IT CAN'T BE TRUE
again why not contribute rather than act superior and not refute anything? U ARENT HELPING ANYTHING
Quoted above: Person ignorant of basic hygiene, throw some hot water and soap on your dick while in the shower and it's the same thing as being cut. [editline]3rd October 2011[/editline] I accept your surrender, you will be hanged at dawn. [sp]/joke[/sp]
Lol I know it was a joke, silly billy. I actually giggled out loud. Pretty manly, eh?
I accept your surrender, you will be hanged at dawn.
but hes my best friend irl :(
but hes my best friend irl :(
Don't worry man! I'll come back to haunt your house and leave cute little kittens at your doorstep. [editline]3rd October 2011[/editline] And best friend? You can't even spell my name right. It's not "irl" it's "Earl"
no, it's had internet losers kicking and screaming saying NO IT'S NOT TRUE IT CAN'T BE TRUE
What, the fact that it can't be infected? Because it pretty much CAN'T if you even take minimal care of it.
Don't worry man! I'll come back to haunt your house and leave cute little kittens at your doorstep. [editline]3rd October 2011[/editline] And best friend? You can't even spell my name right. It's not "irl" it's "Earl"
IN REAL LIFE sheesh
IN REAL LIFE sheesh
Oh Ryan. HUSH you tiddly little mouth. You knowz I was bein sillay
I think it should be the parents choice. I don't remember a thing about my circumcision, and if you give them time to choose and they're older, they'll remember the pain more and it'll be more of an event. [editline]14th March 2012[/editline] woh, sorry for the bump didn't read the date but my answer still stands
Man, I couldn't pull back my foreskin when I was about 14 > learned how to masturbate > now I can pull it back just fine :D
I was circumcised when I was around 3 years old due to a medical disease which made my foreskin not operate as intended. Doesn't really sound like a disadvantage, apart from the fact its easier to orgasm (which is a two sided sword) might I add. But if I ever have kids im giving them the choice. Whatever they think is the right decision.
