Mansion? Maid? Statues and Painting? Damn
Just convince yourself that there aren't any demons, serial killers, monsters, imps, rapists, old people, children, cats, dogs, lions, purples, or Mormons in the dark.
Move to alaska or one of the northern/southern poles.
I'm not afraid of the dark, but I'm afraid of being ALONE in the dark.
Watch us all be wrong, and the OP be ungodly unbelievably unjustifiably unlucky and something is actually waiting for him. Hell bro, I get scared of the dark once in a while, but I just don't let it control me. There is darkness everywhere, get use to it, because it's never leaving.
It sounds like you're afraid of the unknown, rather than the dark. Although it could be the dark, it seems like you're afraid of what's inside of the darkness. Anyways, that's just my opinion. Good luck scared-y cat
Your just gonna have to constantly expose your self to the dark untill you get used to it. Try not to turn on the lights when you go into a dark room and walk down the dark hallway as much as you can. After a while you'll just get used to the dark being their and it wont scare you as much.

Jump into the dark and spin around with your arms sticking out like a helicopter
Sorry buddy, I've played STALKER before, these don't scare me.
You did, did you? So, how did you handle wandering into the Krug Antennae complex during your first playthrough? You can't deny that that was some scary shit.
What do you think will exactly get you, nothing can just like pop out the dark and do anything to you, except murderers and rapists.
Same problem. Except my problems more trying to sleep. I'm just always afraid my throat will get slit or something. It's hard for me to sleep because of this. Even though i share a room with 2 roommates.
Realize that if there's something out there you can't see, you can safely assume it can't see you. Too dark :D It won't know you're there!
you're a pussy. Use a night light.

It would be ridiculous to be afraid of an absence of light.
Having a maid just means your lazy..
to stab what, the dark?
of course.. gotta take a stab at the dark
I was sorta afraid of the dark until I started playing Splinter Cell a shit ton. Now it doesn't bother me and I actually feel comfortable in the dark. I actually make it so no light (save for my dim LED clock) is in my room when I sleep. I will even tape my shades to the window sill so the moon or street light can't shine in. [editline]14th November 2010[/editline] What the fuck. I just realized how weird I am by typing that.
Honestly when I used to be afraid of the dark I just said fuck it if something attacks me whatever. Basically a COME AT ME BRO sorta thing. worked for me thus op should man up and gro some balls
Haha this is pretty much exactly what I did.
I thought this was what everyone meant when they say they're afraid of the dark.
I'm horribly scared of the dark- How do I overcome this?
you touch yourself at night... don't you? Jokes :v: the dark is pretty creepy, even when the lights go out in my own home, I throw my fists about until I find a torch or lightswitch
You keep torches in your home? Where do you live, a dark cave?
Fill your room with IEDs, you won't go out without a bang.
I'm going to tell you the truth: The dark scares me. Well, not really the "dark" but whatever could be in there. This is recent, as I don't have any memories of being scared of the dark as a kid. I think this surfaced when I moved into a new house, an old-style mansion with lots of life-size statues and creepy paintings, with shadows lurking everywhere. Nothing really scares me, but the dark, oh my god, I can't walk for five seconds before beginning a sprint, and before I know it, I am already pushing my body to top speed. I can stand most gory/scary movies without closing my eyes, but I cant be in the dark without whispering to myself "nothing's there, nothing's there". You are surely thinking "Why don't you just stay in your room, where you are the most comfortable?" The answer is: My dad. Dad's a lazy bastard and he loves to eat apples at night, and the kitchen is downstairs. Our maid always turns off the lights really early, so almost every night I have to run down there and get the damn apples from the basket- there are many baskets so I usually have to spend a minute looking for the right one. After these trips, it is not common to hear my dad saying " Wow boy, you are pale like a ghost. See anything interesting downstairs?" How do I overcome this fear? Flashlights don't work because I think whatever is there will creep behind me- I feel powerless at this, and sometimes I even get angry! Any tips facepunch? or perhaps has anyone had an experience like this?
I can summon up some pretty good explainations... 1. stop watching horror films, for a while. 2. pre-arrange an apple during the day, to take to your dad. 3. if you are scared truely off the dark, vamp yourself up...GET PUMPED UP!! before venturing out.. [editline]15th November 2010[/editline]
You keep torches in your home? Where do you live, a dark cave?
No, I live on a farm house in the middle of nowhere 2 miles from the nearest street light or town... Torch = flashlight in UK English Flashlight = torch in USA ingrish
I am scared of things in the dark... outside. That is because I live in Alaska and we have moose and bears. I got charged by a moose in the dark before, that is probably why. Running through the woods in pitch black with no moon and all I can hear is this thumping behind me, can't even see what is chasing me. I kind of felt like I was playing phenumbra. But the darkness indoors doesn't scare me at all.
Having a maid just means your lazy..
or his dad is a horny bastard... [editline]15th November 2010[/editline]
Realize that if there's something out there you can't see, you can safely assume it can't see you.
