My school is pretty chill actually; there are some distinct groups here and there, but they're mostly scattered and pretty well-mixed. A group of band kids might share a table with a couple football players or cheerleaders. A group of robotics club or speech and debate kids have their spot in the back of a physics teacher's room at lunch, where weeaboos hang out (it's nice they have a gaming/anime club to go to so they don't get bullied around campus)
All the freshmen like to clusterfuck around the bathrooms for some odd reason though, I find myself having to say "excuse me" to them a little too often that I'd like, but they don't really go out of their way to bother you here.
Sounds like my freshmen science teacher I had a couple years ago (and now my driving instructor), he grew up in the south in a coal mining town and a lot of his friends got themselves down bad routes to drugs/alcohol and violence, or just had a tough life overall. One of his old friends died recently and he went down to his funeral for a few days earlier this week.
But MA has some pretty strict bullying laws now which makes everyone realize the punishment. You'd be very surprised if you came to my high school; there's really no bullying at all and most people get along or keep to themselves. Of course there's still the ghetto kids but they usually do there own thing. Maybe a few times a year two of them will get into a fight over some stupid shit and get suspended, but that's the worst that happens. It's pretty live and let live at my school.
Since when were there anti-bullying laws in Mass? I left there about two and a half years ago and back then teachers and administrators had absolutely no directive or incentive to do anything about bullying. If you came to school with two black eyes and a nose spurting blood like a faucet, you were on your own.

It was passed in 2010. http://www.slate.com/articles/life/bulle/2010/04/bullies_beware.html <-- that link is all I could find on it.
It's more 'no exceptions' now. Like you can't just say "oh he's a friend he knows I'm just messing around", if someone is ever caught/found bullying, the principal won't deal with it with suspension or whatever, the cops get involved and they have to go to court (assuming it's something serious).
But for that to work it needs the cooperation of the staff, so I guess if the teachers at your school don't really give a shit then the laws that passed won't really be useful. I guess it's all about location.
A giant crowd in the hallway at a school where the passing period was 2 minutes means that you're probably gonna get stabbed and all of your stuff stolen if you try to move through. Also cig burns hurt.
EDIT: @ Ninja. Honestly I simply can't stop laughing at the idea of anti-bullying laws in Mass. I don't know if its my pure cynicism or some other shit, but the idea of someone trying to make a difference in the Mass school system, whether it be a law or becoming an hero which promts the newspapers to martyr them for a few days. I have seen so may people try and fail miserably to make an inch of difference in schools I actually find it funny. It may have been different in other schools, but the school district in Framingham was -and still is- the armpit of society, and people are either too stupid of overloaded with hubris to realize it and stop wasting tax dollars and effort on the shithole that is the Mass schooling system.
I choked out a kid in 5th grade after more than a year of bullying and irreparable mental damage. That kid is now my best friend's boyfriend and I have to deal with him almost every time I go to her house. Luckily she knows about this and tries to organize it to were he's not there when I come over.
I week of suspension for it. I also got Pin worms that week and I freaked the fuck out and thought they were maggots. That was not a fun period of my life.

Man... they the first ones that got me into airsoft
I still remember the stupidity days where we used 200fps marui AEPs without goggles (yes, and I nearly shot my cousin's eye out twice like a total dumbass), then I had the bright idea of using swimming goggles to protect my eyes and we airsofted pretty hard back in the day :v:
That was like when I was in 5th grade... I've come a long way since then
The video stopping while the flute is playing just makes it 10x better

Stats teacher at school told us that if we fail any class starting next semester we cannot retake it at the university anymore, so if you fail a higher division class you are basically fucked.

well, he is a child soldier of choice
after bb convinced him to fight lol
Yes, that is his background, just like a recruit that says "demolitions expert" or something. PW never depicts Chico doing actual fighting for MSF, just that he increases it's intel level. Also Big Boss tried to get Frank Jaeger (Gray Fox as a kid) rehabilitated after he first met him fighting in Africa.
EDIT: @ Bird: Chico's mom Amanda first had him fight for her resistance movement, and she then later asked BB to rescue him and then Chico asked BB to let him join MSF.
um no that's not background that's his job
kaz is listed as msf subcommander which i'm pretty sure is his job not his background
This will be mine tomorrow:
