and then there's a mystery 5th song that I show people if I actually remember it exists

fell in love with it ever since it was used in a Metro trailer.
Seriously I have around 900 different genres, probably more at this point.
harsh noise to calm the nerves
one thing i find when i discover new bands is i'd tend to avoid listening to any other albums just in case i don't like them as much as the one that got me into the band
it took me years to listen to a beirut song that wasn't elephant gun, and i have no regrets now that i have.
With me, I either like one album from a group or pretty much the entire discography
with Booka Shade I've listened to others, but I only like Sun and the Neon Light, but I have every boards of canada album on my PC plus the unreleased tapes they made in the 80's and listen to them pretty often
i want to start collecting vinyl

Vinyl is for nerds, all about those cassettes at this point.
Decided to throw back on my last.fm link and actually start scrobbling again, I guess.
bleh

I'm probably going to have vinyls some day, but only for albums are vinyl only
I honestly don't really have much interest in owning something on vinyl when it's on CD
I like classical music
And edm

get that rare shit.
i used to swear by only metal and dad rock when i was younger and it was one of the worst times in my life
to make up for it i try to reach out and listen to as much as i can. i make an effort to go through an album a day if im not busy. music is a huge spice of life to me.
I'm just a turbo nerd and I have a massive boner for record players and the "lossless quality" stuff.

I started collecting cassettes again a few years ago and I already have ~100 new ones. I also have a small collection of vinyl in my apartment, more at my parents house though.

I used to listen to pretty exclusively Pearl Jam's album Ten and the soundtracks to jazz jackrabbit and NFS4 until I was about 14 :v:
Then I tried to find music that sounded like the music I liked, and it just kinda grew from there
I got paid
I'm ready for XCOM 2
people always seem to boast about how huge their music collection is and i don't really get it
my main spotify playlist that i do most of my listening on is only ~1250 songs but i still listen to tons of stuff in a given year
i think a willingness to branch out is more important than having a 500,000 song library on hand always at all times
music is something i'd consider incredibly important to my life but i usually shy away from talking about it because i hate where those conversations always go
I tried putting Fragile by Yes and The Fragile by NiN on my phone and they were counted as the same fucking album and their tracks were mixed together, which shouldn't happen because they don't technically have the same name, my guess is that the album name for the sound files in The Fragile are just called "Fragile".
i just listen to the heaviest metal ever, put on an angry face, and since i have no headphones, if anyone walks by me on the street they live with it. Oh well

I hate dickwaving about my collection too. Truth be told, most of the time I'm too lazy to even put my stuff on random play, so I listen to internet radio stations I like all day. I just have a great love for music, and most of the shit I listen to is not on streaming services, so I kind of need to download it all.

how did you like nostalgia ultra?
I think physically collecting music will help me keep my tastes varied
because as it stands, I usually end up narrowing it down to 10-20 songs and just listening to those for a disproportionately long time.

if i really like an album, ill download it for repeated listenings personally
i think spotify is great with how you can just pick specific songs out of an album with the checkmark thing (also discovery playlist)
personally my local collection is so big because ive found lots of great albums that i dont mind hearing over and over

It was pretty great, had a nostalgic sound to it which given the name i'm sure was the point

In my experience at least, it has made my collection more narrowed. Literally all my cassettes fall somewhere in the DIY punk/pop/lofi scenes, even though that music doesn't even make up like 1% of my collection. I guess I just like how those people package and design their cassettes.
Good night you people.

What are your favorite genres? (or just like name a few you like) Maybe I can help.
Personally the first place I turn is bandcamp, just because searching on that website is super easy.
