I'm on a provisional licence, it's that stage between being a learner driver and being on my full licence. I can only drive a turbocharged car if it's a diesel (which I did with a twin turbo on my learners' licence).
Yes the law is stupid sometimes; as my state has no definitive 'maximum output' for a car I could legally drive a 260kW Porsche 911 or a 300kW TVR Speed 6 but I can't drive a Holden (Chevrolet) Cruze with a 135kW turbocharged 1.6L petrol.

Probably, but I don't think I could fit in it. Also aren't they turbocharged?

I found one of the old S30 Fairlady Zs (a 260z I believe) on sale a while ago and I was kicking myself because I didn't have the money to get it, but I think it was a project car anyways. My old man has an S30 which he dropped a Mopar 340 (V8) into for drag racing and it's the sickest thing ever. It's pearlescent paint is still in perfect condition but sadly because it was modified for drag racing its interior has been completely stripped out and a full role cage is installed.
VL commodore is the only answer.
Why not an old Golf GTI? They're cheap to run and are fun to drive. I could also recommend a Kadett GSI. The 2.0 16v are a really nice drive. Great handling.
If any of these have been recommended or something already, I'm sorry. Too lazy to read the thread.

Nevermind, re-read the OP.

I am actually looking at a Mazda 2 and if I get it, the first thing I am doing is removing that stupid front license mount (US) so the full smile shows.

That poor thing, put the L series back in and street it. Too bad S30's are not cheap, get a 1600 they can be expensive, but do come up cheap now and again.

They're extremely cheap in California, at least from what I've seen recently

I've seen some decent complete ones that need a bit of TLC for cheap in the USA.
Id go with a toyota MR2 92-94, it has a central engine, its light, reliable and off course fun to drive. Most of them has a turbo and a right driver side.
I second the S30 notion
OP, what about this amazing car?

OP is from Australia.
ALSO WOW WHAT A FIND too bad it's auto :c
RWD non-turbo automatic skyline with a hideous aftermarket front bumper and repainted hood with a straight through exhaust. Owner doesn't even care enough to affix the license plates correctly. Had to have been in an accident in the front. Motor was rebuilt and probably spun bearings since "new crank" thus been ran out of oil or something.
never been thrashed,
REASON TO SELL, GOING ON MY FULL LICENSE SOON.
"beat to shit under my ownership"
"not worth to keep since I broke it already and can get better cars"
