• What if the Earth's rotation was knocked on it's side by a solar flare? A novel idea.

i bet you $2 bucks you will never finish your novel even if you did, it would be some badly written novel that would get shot down instantly by every critic. Heads up.. Major in English before you write anything, that way people would actually listen and think you're smart. no degrees = no respect.
I feel insulted that all you think I'm worth is two bucks. I'm a much larger failure than that.
I don't think Earth will suddenly disappear after billions of years of existence. yay for being optimistic. anyway, what good will panicking and doomsaying do?
Very nice. I still don't like the idea of a solar flare causing it. I think that it makes more sense if a moon-sized asteroid comes close to the Earth. They never colide, but they become entwined in each others gravitational fields, at first the asteroid almost breaks away, and in doing so, it turns the Earth, which then becomes gravity-locked with the Sun. Then you have two options: it breaks free on the back swing, or it becomes a second moon (and thus an eternal reminder of how things used to be). The second option would be more chaotic, as a second, much closer moon would wreak havoc on the tides. Let's say the turning took almost a day. That makes it sudden, but not enough to rip off buildings.
I've gotten rid of the solar flare idea, and am going for more a passing black hole or what you stated. My dad opted for the former, and he has a bit of physics behind him (although not enough to make him credible, but enough to make him a bit more ideal). Just remember to never have them meet a scientist.
Uh oh. If you read it, she is a scientist. Why do you say so? :v: [editline]09:30PM[/editline]
i bet you $2 bucks you will never finish your novel even if you did, it would be some badly written novel that would get shot down instantly by every critic.
