I don't give a fuck what makes you happy, and who gives a fuck if I'm an atheist. The reason you annoy me so much is because you use that "what if" argument.
So what if God ends up being real and you arrive at the gates to heaven and God says "go to hell" and you do? Now get off the thread since you can't give a reasonable answer.
I belive in God because it makes me happy.
There more to faith than that. Does it make you happy or does it make you feel secure? Having faith is accepting that you may very well be wrong but you have the faith the persevere in your beliefs in the face of that possibility. Faith is meant to be challenged. And if what you said is true, that you believe in a God because its the safe bet, that you can't be certain but you having nothing to lose by believing it, then you are not being faithful. You're lying to yourself to feel secure in your beliefs.
I believe in the world and universe around me. Nothing more and nothing less. We are a mere collection of our memories and interpretations of our lives. Together we find meaning where meaning was never to be. Just live your life and be happy. Whatever you believe doesn't need a name, so long as you believe in it.
Thanks for another reasonable answer.

Your reasoning is flawed. Fear or consequences for a lack of faith it NOT a basis for faith.
Atheism is idiocy. I belive in God just in case, if he's not real, he's not real. I've got nothing to lose by believing in a God.
you can't choose the believe in anything you can only decide whether or not to question it
I have faith in whatever God is out there. It's not an atheists business to tell me not to have one. I have a simple question, if you cannot provide a reasonable answer or reply. Do not reply at all. This is not meant to be an "atheism vs religion" thread, moron.
you're doing that to yourself by calling "Atheism stupid" when the real stupid one is you because you don't actually know what religion IS.
I belive in God because it makes me happy.
I don't even get this
I belive in God because it makes me feel secure, it makes me happy, and I've got nothing to lose by it.
And that is wrong. That is not faith, that's cowardice.
I'm not calling religion idiotic. It's fine with me if seone wants to belive in one. I just don't think that Amy religion really captures the full picture of our god.
Actually atheism is a religion (which means "way of life" not "this is what I think god looks like"), and you called it idiotic. A solid majority of people in this thread are calling your religion idiotic (notice I never told you specifically not to call any religion stupid, but rather anyone reading), and this was addressed to them as well.

What you're doing isn't faith at all, it's just attempting to cover all bases. Go big or go home
Keyword: BELIVE.
At least spell "believe" right. And there's more to belief than saying you believe in something. You claim you believe in God because it makes you secure. That is not a reason to truly believe in something. I hate to quote myself, but you're giving me no choice but to repeat what I've already said
There more to faith than that. Do you think that god would accept someone who is simply going through the motions of belief without actually being convinced? If there is a god, I'd go to hell, but he would see through your shit as well.
Just answer the damn question or get off the thread please. I should've used yahoo answers or something.
We're telling you that your faith does not have a name because its not a faith. If you can't handle that answer then go and think long and hard about it.
Do you think that god would accept someone who is simply going through the motions of belief without actually being convinced? If there is a god, I'd go to hell, but he would see through your shit as well.
if there was a god, he sure wouldn't be a dick like people say if he's all knowing and all loving, if you have good intentions and did your best, he's love you for that. Not send you to hell FOR ALL OF ETERNITY just because you were born gay or are black.
Do you think that god would accept someone who is simply going through the motions of belief without actually being convinced? If there is a god, I'd go to hell, but he would see through your shit as well.
And have you met this God, sir?
You're not believing in anything. You're hoping its not true but saying you believe in it because it makes you feel secure. It makes you feel that if there is a God you're exempt from punishment because you kept telling yourself you believe in him. And if there is a God he'll see that you're just lying to yourself.
I am 14 and have spelled everything else correctly. Does it really matter?
Age is not an excuse for anything.
So what if God ends up being real and you arrive at the gates to heaven and God says "go to hell" and you do? At least I am honest to myself and to the hypothetical God.
If God is as gullible as you assume then it's better to not believe at all
You're not believing in anything. You're hoping its not true but saying you believe in it because it makes you feel secure. fyi god browses facepunch and he sees through your shit
you keep repeating yourself and he continues not to understand
I'm hoping I can drill it into his head somehow. Then again 14 years is not old enough to understand the concepts of faith, so I suppose its a wasted effort. Faith is something that develops over a lifetime. He just hasn't had enough time to realize how he's wrong.
nothing wrong with believing in god because yer afraid of the dude a lot of you need to chill out goddamn
nothing wrong with believing in god because yer afraid of the dude a lot of you need to chill out goddamn
The thing is, you aren't believing in him, then. You're convincing yourself to do because you're afraid you could be wrong. That's not belief, that's completely against the concept of faith. [sp]Also fitting username[/sp] :v: [editline]18th August 2013[/editline]
Age is not an excuse for anything.
Actually it may very well be. Age has been found to play a significant part in the development of one's faith.
nothing wrong with believing in god because yer afraid of the dude a lot of you need to chill out goddamn
Thank you!!!
id say being afraid of god is a p.good indication of faith. if one doesn't believe or have faith then why be afraid?
