So you open a topic about believing in God and ask for people's opinions, they give their opinion, then you deem all negative posters as "Atheists" and choose to ignore their feedback? You can't go through life pulling the wool over your eyes to what you don't want to see or hear, just as you can't blindly have faith in someone because you're afraid. You say you have faith in a God "just in case" he's real and sends you to hell for being a non-believer, and try to get everyone off your back by claiming your blind faith in God makes you "happy". That's ridiculous.
Well this may help you out a bit: Theism
You don't need a fancy term for believing in God. It's just theism. A very broad term but the simplest way you can put it. You don't have faith in a God from what I'm taking in from your posts, though, so I'd be safe to call you Agnostic or possibly an Agnostic Theist. I personally think you should take some more time to research and figure out what you truly believe in. Don't be ignorant. I'm not an Atheist btw, I'm Agnostic.
I'm 18 and while my beliefs aren't absolutely set in stone, I'm pretty much non-religious. I don't like the term "atheist" because I don't care either way - I don't say there is or isn't, and I don't really care. I've been called an agnostic atheist before, but I don't like affiliation with anybody or any entity.
With that said, when I was 14, I was in this guy's shoes - albeit in a slightly different dilemma. I was torn between the idea of believing in God because I was afraid, and not believing in God because I didn't feel a strong belief.
What this kid needs isn't a ton of attacks - recognize that he's putting up some defense mechanisms and doesn't want to deal with picking a faith. What he needs to know is his faith doesn't stop there, and that his current belief isn't a correct or viable option. He will probably think about it and come to a conclusion later in life.
For the author, I would have to remind you that there is no safe option when it comes to organized religion. Christianity dictates that God will judge the people on Earth according to his standards - one of which includes faith. You cannot claim that you have both a belief in him and not at the same time. You can't be like, "maybe" or "he could exist". It's "yes" or "no".
I'm a huge advocate for barebones theism, because if there is a God I doubt he would prevent a good person from going to heaven based on whether or not he believes. I have many friends who are of different religions including atheism, and if they go to hell I don't want to be in heaven. Theism gives you the flexibility to believe what you want without the forced or implied guidelines of a religion. For a good portion of my life, I simply believed, "There's probably a God and he's going to judge us based on our actions and intentions. That's it." There's nothing wrong with that belief.
With that said - keep pondering, keep thinking - but don't get comfortable. You can't say "yes and no" or "just in case" to a religion, and while that may seem daunting, I (as well as many others) believe there is no right or wrong answer.
