Oh god dammit. I was re-reading all the way through Homestuck since I hadn't read it in ages, and I came across this

The meme has infected MSPA... even though this was posted a year before the joke came into existence.
Wanna explain a little more what's important about that.

This part of the comic disappointed the hell put of me.
Just when I hoped most that Equius would get over his thing about blood color and take down Gamzee, he falls without putting up a fight, despite being the strongest troll.

I thought it showed off Equius's true character and nature. Not a STRONG killer, but a nervous and timid person with high respect for his superiors. Not saying he wasn't able to fight or be STRONG, but that he was a bit of a different person that he showed on the outside.

There could've been so many places where the story could've ended a lot sooner or there would be less deaths involved.
Such as the prototyping of Bec; if that didn't happened, and John wasn't put to sleep by Vriska while he was attempting to prototype something, Jack would not have gone on a horrible rampage, and he would've died in that fight between him, Bro, and Davesprite.
And the trolls would have been successful with their mission, also, and there would've been a significant difference in the outcome of what happens to the trolls after their gaming session. Equius probably wouldn't even have to be strangled to death by Gamzee.
what a silly name
Whoop. And there's God Cat's DNA sequence.
I know it made the most sense for Equius to die that way, I am still disappointed though.

Not as Good God, but Good God.
Oh man she totally crushed the cat with sasacre's.
Jaspers penned Sassacre's book secretly.
I knew it.

it was his stubborn attitude toward the social order and the weird gratification he got from that order being maintained that led to his downfall

he absolutely despised gamzee because he was opposite of how he should have behaved in every way
when gamzee finally owned up to the traditional highblood routine he didn't know how to handle it
it was p good character development for equius, even if it got him killed
nah I bet John is gonna be the one to kill Jack, as the only thing higher than the Ace of a deck is the Joker

or Gamzee

Pssssh, we all know what's going to happen in the end. I know, Hussie told me because we're best friends and Olive Garden is the best restaurant ever.

qfft people don't seem to understand that death can be a form of characterization
i would say the same about vriska

Yeah. Equius and Tavros and less so Vriska are tragic characters. Tragic in the greek sense of 'their story ends badly'. Yeah, that would have been a great moment for Equius to rise up. But he didn't. He failed.

Whoops. I retract that, sorry. :C
Has anyone equated the prevalence of death in Homestuck to death in video games?
Death means much less in the comic than it does in real life. Even though it looks like some characters will not come back, we are not entirely sure of that. Also, tons of characters have died multiple times with little consequence.

I guess you could equate it to a video game in that when people die, the minor characters aren't going to come back, but the major characters have a much higher chance.
But that's just how it is in most media, so I don't think that particular thing is an intentional theme.
It's time to get RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII

Delicious
And a link to a SOPA thing cool.
