Unreal Tournament (Any of'em)
Quake 3: Arena
Games like that are what shootings about, to me. Accurate and diverse weaponry, no momentum systems or hindering physics, fluid and high pace gameplay.
Honorable mention for Enemy Territory: Return to Castle Wolfenstein, that games a gem.

Painkiller.
Special mention to these 2 posts.
I absolutely love UT2k4 and Painkiller and games of the same sort. I could play UT2k4 at any time during my life, and the game would always be amazing in every single way. Even after getting old due to well, being old, the game is magnificent in my opinion. And Painkiller (the first ofc) is just so well done and so brutal... Then again, those 2 games marked an era on my gaming rapsheet.
Quake 3 Arena aswell, lets not forget the times I was in class and we all fired up a hosted server and played that thing like lunatics. Absolutely grand times...
Same goes for FEAR (Both 1 and 2) for the story which is actually pretty good, and multiplayer which was GREAT fun.
And lets not forget the Counter Strike series either. I'd say every single person who has ever played video games should have at least tried any of the CS games. They are a legacy of the online video game world.
2004 more so than 99. 2004 kept the style of 99 with a fair few positives, but also added the vehicles that really acted like just another weapon. And it worked perfectly.
Who cares about 2003 and 3 though.
2003 was basically 2004 without a few things if I recall it well...
3 was just, bad.
Giving the game a story was the most retarded thing ever, and it just didn't feel like UT anymore. Don't know if it was from being all advanced graphics and bla bla, but it just didnt do its work anymore. That's why we got UT2k4, and why its the best UT game ever.
Operation flashpoint: Cold war crisis
Doom
Wolf ET
TF2
Star trek:Elite force
Blood
Quake 3

C&C Renegade
Garry's Mod
Counter-Strike series
Any ID software FPS.

Final Doom

All AoD adds is a bunch of recolors and Beastiality monsters, then changes the default monsters into randomized spawns for them. It turns into a giant clusterfuck of ungodly crap.

Seriously you might aswell play Ghouls VS Humans all day
SWAT4
My all time favorite is still Battlefield 2. I have over 2,000 hours on BF2
System Shock 2 is a great choice because the story and atmosphere are great
SWAT 4, PAYDAY 2
Payday 2 and Counter Strike: Global Offensive. Portal 2 can tag along, too.
Doom, Quake and Unreal.
Morrowind (if that counts)
Bioshock Infinite
Also, GTA IV is an incredible experience with the first person mod. The main reason I want a Rift is to experience IV and V in VR with their first person mods.
ArmA 3
XIII was pretty awesome too.
But underrated.
serious sam
Bioshock Infinite
TF2, Portal, Valve games etc
Battlefield series
Halo 2
Deux Ex Human revolutions if that counts as a proper FPS.
