One is good, one is evil.
false dichotomy
Totally agree, Scandinavia: highest taxes, happiest people.
Funny how Americans think that can never work
socialist capitalism is the way! [editline]23rd December 2010[/editline]
Capitalism got pros and cons. Socialism got pros and cons. One is good, one is evil. Both are liable to curruption.
Both are bad and good at the same time :colbert:
thomas jefferson was what we would call today a communist he believed society would be perfect if all people had ten acres of land and participated directly in politics when people died their acres would be redistributed to the people people would work to their ability and provide to the needs of the community
when people think equal distribution they think everyone gets a tiny ration, not ten acres of land hell barely anyone can afford ten acres of land
Democratic socialism is used by the countries ranked best in the world and that's all that needs to be said on the subject.
Social Democratism is better.
thomas jefferson was what we would call today a communist he believed society would be perfect if all people had ten acres of land and participated directly in politics when people died their acres would be redistributed to the people people would work to their ability and provide to the needs of the community
Yeah. Like we've been saying, this idea sounds perfect on paper. Unfortunately you have to account for the shortcomings of man that make mostly all political systems fail. Greed, corruption, abuse of power.. nearly every government has or will have at least someone who fits this description.
Oh look everyone, it's that thread again...
This is obvious.
...Sorry were you fucking asleep during the recession where every bank in the USA and the United Kingdom over lent and invested and pissed away money they didn't have? There's wanting a nice house and nice things and then there's having £250,000,000 in the bank. You're telling me it doesn't make you slightly sick when you hear about some fucking asshole winning 28 million on the lottery and pissing it all away when people could have used that money to eat..so they wouldn't die.
Yes because that means everyone? I don't care what people do with their money, if somebody wins the lottery then thats good for them. Sure it would be nice for him to help others, but its up to him and why should I care what other people do. I should worry about my own life before I decide that some other guy is an 'asshole' for winning the lottery and doing something other than what I want. Before you say you would do it differently, don't. You know you wouldn't, if I had money I would spend it all on myself first. That is human nature and there is nothing wrong with thinking about yourself first. Don't you dare try and tell people that their lifestyle is wrong, because I, like any other person, could find so many flaws with your lifestyle that you would fucking beg to be different. [editline]23rd December 2010[/editline]
Totally agree, Scandinavia: highest taxes, happiest people.
Like every other person who makes this statement, I have one question for you. How do you measure happiness? [editline]23rd December 2010[/editline]
Funny how Americans think that can never work
Funny how people don't understand mindsets. America is a very individualist society, the further east you go, the further people are reliant on each other and help each other because of their culture and mindset.
In America! We make sure that you live on your own, that is, unless the government wants to get off its ass and help you. The idea of being free is still kinda screwed up, though. I don't find myself free if I have to work 16 hour days and only get payed ten cents to live on.
During the 1900's Americans are scared of Communism, now in 2000's it's Socialism. Its like Americans love being fucked over by corporations or something. A political theory advocating state ownership of industry, really don't see whats wrong with having a watchful eye on profiteers.
Like every other person who makes this statement, I have one question for you. How do you measure happiness?
By asking how happy people are. It's quite simple really.
Wouldn't mind socialized healthcare on a State level, as long as we know it's going to people who need it, not some drunk off his ass loner who is contributing nothing to anything.
Just a quick note: Socialism would only work in small communities. And with the capitalist propaganda it's not a surprise it never worked.
Capitalism > Socialism
Wouldn't mind socialized healthcare on a State level, as long as we know it's going to people who need it, not some drunk off his ass loner who is contributing nothing to anything.
How is he supposed to be able to contribute if he's very sick and unhealthy? It's not a matter of who deserves it or not.
If you worked hard your entire life and built up one of the best and leading companies in the United States, but then had thousands of people yelling at you to give them your money because they aren't successful and it isn't fair...how would you react? Taking from the successful and the rich and giving to the poor, is that not stealing money? Most of the people complaining about the problem are people who live on welfare because they chose not to do anything with their lives and don't contribute anything to society. In reality, many large corporations and businesses donate millions to nonprofit organizations and other projects that help people around the world. edit: this post is more of a reply to Vasili
Its like Americans love being fucked over by corporations or something.
and others who think that the government should take the money from the rich and give it to the poor this post has really no relation to the OP
These threads are why we can't have nice things.
Your last threads have both been kind of sub-par.
Another "FUCK AMERICA" thread... These need to be bannable now
Funny how Americans think that can never work
funny how Scandinavia is about .0001 the size of the us
funny how Scandinavia is about .0001 the size of the us
USA is 3.719 million square miles. Scandinavia is 315519 square miles. Seems like approx 8.5%....

Further more, you would get nowhere without that state giving education system you were given (oh no dats socialisisisisisiist). Also nice generalization there with saying all people who think corporations should be regulated and pay fair taxes are just peasant stealing poor people who sponge off the government. You think just because a few companies give to charity (and even your so called 'millions' is just a figure off your head) there are a lot of bad things they get up to, especially in America. Its a business looking for profit and they are always willing to cut corners to save a money or gain, there are plenty of examples of that I can give you too compared to their very generous charity service (which is remarkable you don't get why they do that on the first place).

If you are poor you cannot pay for healthcare nor good education for your children, wich leads to the same thing when they grow up.
I hate propaganda. And Governments being assholes. [editline]23rd December 2010[/editline] I'd actually like to drive with Hitler, just because of educational and Historical purposes.
literally laughing at the fact that the most coherent and well-written thread on this entire forum has a majority of dumb ratings. you're all a bunch of fucking children. its hilarious. [editline]23rd December 2010[/editline]
Another "FUCK AMERICA" thread... These need to be bannable now
especially you. you aren't 20. you're 12. get over yourself.
Another "FUCK AMERICA" thread... These need to be bannable now
yeah let's ban discussion of important real-life matters
These threads never achieve anything, I'd write up my usual pro-socialism arguments but quite honestly everybody opinionated enough to post in these threads is never going to change their views based on some post. Most of the problem Americans seem to have with Socialism comes down massive misinformation and as you said, a whole load of cultural THEM DERNED COMMUNISTS stuff from the last century.
