Sorry to break it to you, guys, but he must be trolling. Here's another quality post from Lamar: http://www.facepunch.com/threads/1068182-Age-of-consent-should-be-lowered.
I do feel like democracy over there is a bad idea honestly many of those people are very poor and uneducated all I see happening is another dictator being elected and taking the place over unless the U.S steps in to help which we are doing but doing so is bankrupting ourselves but if we dont be the police of the world everyone freaks out on american but when we do people are still mad. Its all just one big mind fuck
Hmm, so for the first time we are seeing a (classical at least) liberal movement in the middle east and you are saying the world is going to end. What, should freedom only be exclusive to America?
You must be a troll. No sane intelligent person would desire to live in a Police State.
what. that has no relevance.
Hmm, so for the first time we are seeing a (classical at least) liberal movement in the middle east and you are saying the world is going to end. What the fuck is wrong with you.
Gas prices going up make every product go up, electronics, food, water. However, it's not a substantial increase, American people don't like change when they can't get what they want, and they like lavish spending. Hence the lash-back at 4.00$ a gallon not too long ago.
History runs its course. It did happen at an inconvenient time, but we will make it through.
Fuck what I have to say, tyranny all the way.
So honest replies now, theres no right or wrong answer. Implying I am correct, which would you sacrifice? 1st world lifestyle OR potential for M.E Democracy. For an added kicker, if you chose the first, you'll be living like a 3rd world citizen, where you'll be working all day just to pull yourself together one 500 calorie meal (if you're lucky) Rate agree for 1st, disagree for 2nd.
I think it's pretty normal that EVERYONE would want democracy because that takes into account what EVERYONE wants. :v:
Actually I have plenty enough of exposure to the real word, enough to actually fear it, unlike most ungrateful 1st worlders.
If you had decent exposure to the outside world, you'd know what a bicycle is. As an American you should be standing for freedom all the time no matter what the price. Honestly I feel like your saying "Only America deserves freedom." And yes gas prices are high which takes away all your money, but if you work hard enough you should be able to get a better job. That's thing the thing about America if you work hard enough you can make a living. It's not easy and it might take a while, but if you want it hard enough you'll get it. Please everyone don't think every American is like Lamar.
It's not easy and it might take a while, but if you want it hard enough you'll get it.
I agree that Americans should desire freedom for all from tyranny, but no, working hard does not mean you will progress. Some of the hardest workers in our economy are also the most ignored. Economic and Social Capital matter ten fold more than work ethic. Ask any sociologist and they will tell you that statistically the American dream is a fat load of shit. The "work hard and you will go far" notion is a wonderful one, and I can't fault people for having it, but the reality of the situation is that developed countries simply do not work that way 9 times out of 10.

Not anymore though.
Lately I've been noticing a bunch of people on here supporting the protesters in the middle east/north Africa. These people apparently do not realize that they are suicidal. Look at what's happening to the price of food and fuel in our nations. The prices are soaring. Experts are predicting that the price of gasoline in America will reach five dollars a gallon before the summer of 2011. Yes, 2011. In areas like California the price will surpass six dollars. The economy cannot handle these kinds of prices. It is going to fucking implode. Our economy is already in a weakened and fragile state, the collapse and reformation of Middle-Eastern governments will hurt us drastically in this time of crises. By the time they get their shit together, it maybe too late for us... The people in the M.E deserve better than dictatorships, but their timing of overthrowing their governments, I must say have been incredibly inconvenient for us.. What are your thoughts? Middle-Eastern democracy at the expense of our already weakened economy? Is this why no action has been taken?
You are the scum of the earth. You are part of the problem. I can't even truly voice my disgust for you. You cannot possibly call yourself a true American.
We should try and help the rebels as much as possible without actually intervening.
The people in the M.E deserve better than dictatorships, but their timing of overthrowing their governments, I must say have been incredibly inconvenient for us..
Although you're almost completely right, this quote above is wrong. I don't think the protestors care what happens to America when their government sucks. The world doesn't want to help the States get back on it's feet. They don't care if it's convenient or not for them to go protest their governments.
So the middle-eastern countries could eventually get fair profit for their oil?! OUTRAGEOUS!
Democracy is best cracy. But it occasionally shits all over itself when in the hands of fucktards.
It's really not fair to tell them that their revolutions are inconvenient because it makes us pay more for gas. Calm down and think about what you're saying before you say it. Stopping their revolutions for the sake of convenience would be a colossal dick move on anyone's part.
This thread is bad and you should feel bad.
We should try and help the rebels as much as possible without actually intervening.
imho the best option is to sit back and let them handle this on their own. We should only intervene if they ask us for help.
imho the best option is to sit back and let them handle this on their own. We should only intervene if they ask us for help.
They did already.

If the OP wasn't too blind to notice, the majority of the price of petrol comes from taxation. E.g in the UK the price of petrol per liter would be more like 40p rather than ~£1.40 if you didn't include taxes.

[editline]13th March 2011[/editline] and thus completely incomparable to the tax in the Commonwealth countries
