The teacher gave us this is history class too. Most of the students didn't get it and said things like, "Is this some sort of joke? I don't get it," and the teacher had to explain that it was a satire.
I don't know why pointing out that someone is begging the question is compaired to such silliness as "your being defensive" If someone really is begging the question ( assuming the point their trying to prove as part of their proof) its perfectly legitimate to point out that fact.
I will use this
that sounds almost exactly like this: http://www.ninjapirate.com/logic.html
Calling someone a faggot and then restate the exact same thing only with more cursing seems to work for winning arguments on Facepunch.
or you know, you could just slap your friend in the face if he's trying to backtalk you
ITT: People use the same 5 lines to counteract eachother.
You're begging the hitler.
Of course you can always act like you're 12 by saying "you must be trolling" or better yet, "umad?"
They can't punch you in the face if you're on the Internet!!!!
this is how "in the news" should be guys
Ban anyone who disagrees with you, and de-mod any moderators that think something you did was a bad idea.
What a simply wonderful idea. You should write a book.
This entire thread reminds me of a thread I remember Hitler creating back in Vietnam.
With this knowledge I will begin my very successful career in politics tomorrow.
What's wrong with his quotation marks?
I'm afraid you have no response that could break that argument.
This seems useful to call someone out if they do this. Hard as it may be. I think its key to stay calm when arguing with someone, a lot of arguments were lost because someone lost their temper.
You should write a book.
Hitler wrote a book. :colbert:
best thread ever 2011
Hitler wrote a book. :colbert:
you're begging the argument.
Use meaningless but weightly-sounding words and phrases. Memorize this list: Let me put it this way In terms of Vis-a-vis Per se As it were Qua So to speak You should also memorize some Latin abbreviations such as ``Q.E.D.,'' ``e.g.,'' and ``i.e.'' These are all short for ``I speak Latin, and you do not.''
also say ipso facto
This sounds like the way Hitler argued.
:godwin:
Ban anyone who disagrees with you, and de-mod any moderators that think something you did was a bad idea.
That sounds like something Hitler would have done.
In terms of As it were So to speak You should also memorize some Latin abbreviations such as ``Q.E.D.,'' ``e.g.,'' and ``i.e.'' These are all short for
Wait, you mean people don't use this on daily basis? Shit.
they compared between the german word of Orange "Achshiv" and the german word for Apple "Ochshev" but as it were so to speak in german, Achshiv und Ochshev, but in the terms of his speech in 1929 March the 3rd, the average jewish male can withstand a heat of 48 billion degrees and testing this theory proved most sufficient.
Don't compare Jews and Orange Juice
and even if you win, your still wrong. aka why debate class is bull
It's been my belief for a while, that you can win any argument if you throw enough idiocy behind it.
I like arguing better when I know the facts.
I like arguing better when I know the facts.
You're being defensive.
You're being defensive.
Qua vis a vis QED ie eg per se so to speak
Qua vis a vis QED ie eg per se so to speak
You are speaking in a crimcumlocative method by which you are drawing out the argument, and not getting to the point which is that you are inherently failing to answer the question with your roundabout method of conversation.
