pretty boring show episodes are too long very slow boring characters people just watch this to make themselves feel smarter
People watch it to make themselves feel smarter? It's not even remotely difficult to watch, and i managed to get hooked after the first episode, so you must have the attention span of a fish. [editline]8th September 2011[/editline] Oh it's a troll. never mind.
I was the only person I knew to like fuckin' Ziggy, please tell me someone else liked that character

Plus I was really moved by how he went from being essentially a running joke to one of the characters I cared about most in that series.
Just finished this show. It is god damn amazing. Definitely one of the best shows I've ever seen. Everything about it feels authentic, the characters, the environment, the dialogue. Absolutely fabulous. I'm going to attempt to fill the hole in my heart with The Soprano's now, not sure if it will work.
Anyone who likes this should also check out an earlier show called "The Corner". It features some of the same actors but in hugely different roles. It acts as a good introduction to the Wire. For anyone who still reads, have a look at the work of George P. Pelecanos too. I'd also recommend Treme (life after Hurricane Katrina New Orleans) and "Generation Kill" (A reporter follows a squad into Baghdad during the 2003 invasion of Iraq), also produced by David Simon.
Yeah, I should start watching this show again. Left off at that part where those cops go to the projects and get shit thrown down on them from above. Which episode was that??
Jesus Christ, this is still the best show in my heart. I grew really close to the characters and felt sad when it was over. Great atmosphere, interesting characters, brilliant scriptwriting. This comes from someone who watched most of the high-rated TV series (except The Sopranos, gotta get to it someday). So yes, it's really as great as they say.
I'm on Season 3 of this now, probably one of the best shows I've ever watched.
I say this is the best show ever made and I doubt I'll ever see something to change my mind. I used to think I hated cop shows but this made me realize I just hate procedurals. What makes it such a great show is that it's so unlike a TV show. It plays out more like reality. It's not purely for entertainment, a single episode of the show doesn't really contain it's own story. It's like the world inside the show is a real place and a single episode is an hour's glimpse into that world. And it doesn't bullshit around portraying police as action heroes. If memory serves, not once over the course of the show do the cops ever get into any gunfights or high speed chases. It shows what real police work is. Hard, tedious, brain busting work. EDIT: Also, like reality, it's occasionally hilarious.
Finished season 3 Absolutely brilliant show.
