I got it, its excellent. [editline]11th April 2011[/editline] The Jester Race masterrace
It's the only In Flames album I have at my dads :v: I love it though so it's okay :3: And the new Amorphis song is on their facebook, here: http://www.facebook.com/amorphis?v=app_178091127385 Sounds goooooood :3: Not amazing but they never release the best track.
Fucking hell Tomi Jousten's dreads. Sexy.
Best hair in Metal. The new song: Youtube Edition.
though amorphis isn't really melodic death metal
They helped pioneer the genre mannnn. Tales From The Thousand Lakes was a milestone in melodeath. It sounds like it was a massive influence on In Flames' The Jester Race. They never were straight up melodeath, but their old stuff was like doomy folky melodeath and their new stuff has has melodeath elements. [editline]11th April 2011[/editline] but yeah they've moved away from the sound. Skyforger's a bit of a stretch to actually label as melodeath. But I think there are still influences, for sure.
Melodeath, or not melodeath? Eh. Awesome whatsoever.
Best hair in Metal.
Anders Friden. That is all. [editline]12th April 2011[/editline]
They helped pioneer the genre mannnn. Opinions, opinions.
You sure? I've always thought that The Jester Race had some very Amorphis style sounds to it. Maybe just because Amorphis influenced melodeath and that was a melodeath album :v: [editline]12th April 2011[/editline] Anders cut his fucking hair though :argh:
Im sure.

YES :pcgaming: [editline]14th April 2011[/editline] This is pretty thrashy/arguably metalcore though Not full on melodeath [editline]14th April 2011[/editline] Still fucking sick
Lamb of God is working on the upcoming album 6 hours a day, 5 days a week. I dont know when to expect it to come out. Not really melodic death metal, but close enough.

That song has some tight production, and I can't really complain about the musicianship. Just wish they replaced their male vocalist. He is easily Deadlock's weakest link. I mean, he's not as bad in that song as their earlier songs, but I still don't think he's that good. Pretty mediocre, and it really shows in contrast to how good their female vocalist is - she just completely overshadows him.

The artwork for 'deliver us' (will be released on may) which would gives us some idea on how that album is gonna sound like can't wait
An album title track is confirmed,[3] as well as a track titled "The Attic" featuring accordion, and a track that begins with spoken word.[1] According to Anders, this album will feature increasingly wide vocal registers and reduced screams and growls. [4] In addition, some of the album's songs "pretty much go against the hard rock formula.
[editline]16th April 2011[/editline] Also I feel the love of the singles release date. It's being released on the 6th in Australia along with Sweden, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, New Zealand and Norway.
Goddamn Alex Pardee is a great artist.
He is but he didn't do the artwork, Dave Correia did. You can see more of his stuff here: http://www.playwithknives.com/ Also here's a pretty high quality video of In Flames in 1999. It's rad as fuck and it has tits. An underrated pioneering melodeath album right here, Dismember's "Massive Killing Capacity". Out in the same year as At The Gates' "Slaughter Of The Soul" and Dark Tranquillity's The Gallery (both considered basically the first two real melodeath albums) but this came out earlier. And I think its sound is actually a more solid Melodic death metal album than the other two. [editline]17th April 2011[/editline] I think this thread needs more roots and origins and early defining bands instead of just At The Gates' last album, DT's second album or IF's Debut. Entombed's album "Wolverine Blues" from 1993: Although this band never were and still aren't a melodic death metal band, they brought a lot to the genre despite never quite being a melodeath band. Dismember's debut "Like An Ever Flowing Stream", released WAYYY back in 1991 (once again not another straight up melodeath album, more of a death metal album but there's definite melodic hooks and a generally more flowing, catchy and melodic sound and if you listen to the song I posted up there you can tell they've only expanded this. They were one of the first to take a proper melodic step, but things like blast beats and genuine brutality and speed are still there, keeping this more of a death metal album than melodeath. This album was to melodic death metal what Venom's album "Black Metal" was to black metal. Grave's album "You'll Never See..." from 1992 is another great example of early Swedish bands driving melody into brutal music. Another brilliant death metal gem is Utumno's first EP. It was also the last thing they ever wrote before breaking up. This was released in 1993, and just listen to it. It sounds really like At The Gates's SotS which was released a whole two years later. Stupidly underrated (costs hundreds to get it on ebay :v:) and fucking awesome, it was also really important on a lyrical aspect. Instead of writing about blood and guts it was more about emotion. Also like At The Gates. At The Gates's debut (I'm aware I said I was going to look for the roots and not bands like At The Gates, but this debut was very very influencial and it was a whole three years before their most acclaimed release) "The Red In The Sky Is Ours". This brought lots of melody and started to lower levels of brutality and speed. Probably the biggest thing about this album is the use of violins. This is important because as you'll all know melodic death metal later took use of keyboards and other unorthodox instruments into their sounds. Desultory. This is probably more important than everything else I've posted here other than AtG's album. Just listen to it and it speaks for itself. This was released back in 1992. They released their first death metal album (I say this because they released like... A Soundgarden clone in 96 :v:) since 1994 last years. Another one is Edge of Sanity. They play melodic death metal with a very progressive style, taking elements from things like prog rock. 1992. This is a milestone for sure. Clean singing, interludes, violins, piano, organs and unusual song structures really made this album stand out from the rest (although the latter technique was more an influence on progressive death metal rather than melodic death metal) This band ties in very closely with Opeth. Another real landmark in the genre is Eucharist's album "A Velvet Creation" from 1993. (another notable aspect is that the drummer went on to play with Arch Enemy. How I learnt of Eucharist.) I don't know for sure but I'm certain this is the band At The Gates ripped off on everything past their debut really. So yeah I'm done for now :3:

What I got for Deliver Us: Remind me I'm golden, the fortress above the sun Why don't you spend nowhere with me? Saw the river and the path of the ones with names On the shore Forever I can't fi(nd?) I am certain of everything except "with names." Sounds more like "I've names," but that doesn't make much sense.
