Q: What do you get if you mix Finnish Melodeath with Japanese history? A: Whispered. Blindfold Dead Cold Inside
Awesome, I listened to their demo awhile ago and couldn't remember the band's name.
Anyone got some melancholic, depressive songs apart from insomnium?
Most of doom metal. Swallow The Sun for one. But you should already have them since they're fucking great.
More melodic doom/death: Draconian Daylight Dies Yearning [editline]9th September 2011[/editline]
Most of doom metal. I don't know if you guys have heard of Dissection, but I recently discovered them and they sound awesome. Still gotta listen to the rest of their songs as well. The Grief Prophecy / Shadows Over a Lost Kingdom Black Horizons

Decided to give Ghost Brigade's new album a proper listen. They sound so much like Staind it's not even funny.
I don't know how much hate there is here for The Agonist, my all time favorite band, but they just released a new EP -snip- They seem to inspire either great hatred or love from people.
I love em, personally. I don't care if they aren't quite Melodeath, they're great. Lonely Solipsist is a sweet song. If that is any indication of the upcoming full album, it'll be all kinds of win.
[editline]13th September 2011[/editline] The Interbeing Seriously good, melodic death/djent.
Where Dead Angels Lie is amazing
It sounded interesting in the beginning, but for some reason it really didn't hit me. I guess that the chorus is too indistinguishable from the rest of the song.
I'm not that much of a Anime fan. I don't dislike it, but I've maybe seen 3 movies (And the Pokémon anime in the 90's, obviously) so I don't have much to judge from. So when I found Imaginary Flying Machines, a collection of melodic death metal covers of anime film theme songs by bands like BSC and Disarmonia Mundi, on Last.fm it wasn't exactly what I expected to be ridiculously awesome, but I gave it a listen because I thought it could be fun. Turns out it was ridiculously awesome. The instrumentation and vocals around the chorus... Holy shit!
Haha. What. Something about deep death growls in Japanese I find irrationally hilarious. When the growls first set in I couldn't stop laughing.
what are you racist or somethin
And on a less ridiculous note: Insomnium released a New Video for the song "Through the Shadows" today! Quite possibly their best yet!

It has the same problem every other album has The vocals are badly mixed :( Although it's still awesome The harmonies in it are amazing.

This video seemed a bit too fast paced, switching between cameras too fast, and using too much effects.
More melodic doom/death: Daylight Dies http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TGIA6QXkRC0
I know I'm late, but, holy shit, that's a good song. Thanks for the recommendation!

Has anyone figured out the lyrics for through the shadows? I have only got:
Far away from your worlds Give them all you got - Fight till the last drop Walk aboard the shadows Leave your mark behind - Makes the demand of your life - catching an arrow, im broken inside - as nothing can be anymore - separate the matter, - - -
And thats not probably correct because my native language is not english. [editline]17th September 2011[/editline] Im dying to know them
That's about all I got, too. I tried my best to write down what I heard from the first two verses, and they're more or less what you got. I didn't bother to try and make them coherent - I just wrote down syllables as I heard them.
Walk away from the worlds Given all you gots Enough are you the fight Until the last drop Walk among the shadows Leave your mark behind Is there something to ray guards It's the end of the line
I can't make out a single fucking word in the chorus though. It's bad when death growls are easier for you to understand than clean vocals. :v:
Pretty cool vocals in this one. Roswell 47 by Hypocrisy.

I know a girl who makes absolutely no sense when she sings, yet she has a lovely voice.
The Unconquered One by Unanimated. [editline]23rd September 2011[/editline] The Endless Beyond by Unanimated as well.
Guys, imagine the ballsiest song of all time being covered by the ballsiest band of all time: I present to you: "Balls to the Wall" - Amon Amarth
New Dark Tranquillity video, and it's really fucking clool! Zero Distance
New Cipher System album. Only song off it I can find on YouTube. Pretty good though. I feel like it's probably not the best on the album, but, meh.
Random band: Dead End Finland (Yes, "Finland" is actually a part of the name.) Also a Free Release by the band Crystalic! Download 'Persistence' on the bands website. (This song includes guest vocals by Lars Eikind)
This guy's album is like one big Scar Symmetry solo.
