Samael were industrial black metal. Every successive album of theirs became more and more industrial, under the metamorphose was complete: [editline]26th November 2011[/editline]
Though not remotely similar to Ceremonial Oath, I figure you might also like Ebony Tears,Ablaze My Sorrow,Gardenian,Sins of Omission
Gardenian are awesome. Out of their three albums, Two Feet Stand is probably my least favorite, though. I think Soulburner is my favorite album from them. I don't really have a favorite song from the album, because every one is killer, so I'll just post the first track on the album. :v:
I don't really know what's going on here. A Canorous Quintet broke up in 1999, reforming in 2005 under the new name of This Ending, releasing two albums under that name, in 2006 and 2009. Then I go onto DarkLyrics this morning, to look at the lyrics to In Mourning's "The Black Lodge", and I see a release by A Canorous Quintet on there. I go to the Encyclopaedia Metallum, and sure as shit, A Canorous Quintet are scheduled to release a two-song EP next week, if MA is to be believed. What's going on here? :v:
It was actually tracks that they did in the past to be included in the "Silence of the World Beyond" album but for some reasons I am quite not sure myself (probly not enough studio time?) they did not include it. Now that This Ending left Metal Blade Records they decided they wanted to re-record the materials they produced when they were A Canorous Quintet to celebrate their anniversary or some shit like that and since they didn't release those tracks, I guess they released them as an EP. [editline]30th November 2011[/editline] Oh and I doubt they would go back to being A Canorous Quintet and play their old style (which I really hope they do) again.
New Souldrainer album out, folks! And it's really, Really fucking awesome! Actually it was released a week ago. And I knew it all along. Why did I wait? To make sure... [img_thumb]http://f.braxupload.se/v60anc.jpg[/img_thumb] ...that I got the bragging rights. :smug:
About fucking time. To be honest I gave up on it ever being released. Metal bands seem to have this thing about finishing the album, then waiting for-fucking-ever to release it. Like it was over a year after Am I Blood posted on their official page that Existence of Trauma was recorded, mixed, finalized, and printed before they actually released it. And Blind Stare recently posted that their album is completely finished, and they have no ETA for release.
Still waiting for Time by Wintersun. We're never getting it.
Remember Sonic Syndicates old stuff? Eden Fire, Only Inhuman, Roland on vocals... Good times. Why is this relevant? Some of the old members that left because of the change in style, including both vocalists, decided to make some old-style stuff! And in late November, The Unguided released Hell Frost! I'm listening to it now, and I can tell you this: It's great! Also: A new band (as in: they haven't released any full-length yet) with a similar sound (and one really awesome clean vocalist): dEMOTIONAL!
Even though dEMOTIONAL sound really metalcore (and I mean, like, really metalcore, and I'm not much caring for it), I won't deny that clean vocalist is really good. He makes me think of Three Days Grace's vocalist - you can choose how to interpret that. He also makes me think of Dagoba's vocalist, when he decides to do clean vocals. Compare 1:55 to 1:58 in that dEMOTIONAL song to Dagoba's "The Things Within," at 0:23 for example. [editline]fish[/editline] Oh, and the other video has been removed. :v:
With the latest lineup pic by Insomnium I bring some melodeath/doom for you all: (EchO) And a Jordanian band called Chalice Of Doom!
i don't know where it came from but as long as it lyrics and sounds triumphs and not repeats http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e2BthbIMFp4
February will be a good month. First StS will release what is according to, you know, Jari Mäenpää "Propably the best Swallow the Sun album ever!!" (Video from which will soon be released) After that, it's straight over to the folkier side with Eluveities new album Helvetios! Here's two songs from it: Meet The Enemy A Rose For Epona
Can't wait for the new Swallow the Sun album. Here's hoping the clean vocals are mixed in a bit better (they're very quiet on New Moon). The new Barren Earth album is slated to release at the end of this month, too. Can't wait for that, either.
wtf new Eluveitie album? I had zero idea. [editline]5th January 2012[/editline] Holy fuck 4 albums by good bands coming out at the start of 2012. Lamb of god, eluveitie, swallow the sun and barren earth. I'm Ok with this.
The new StS video for the song Cathedral Walls is OUT! And the song is great!
Hnng. That intro. Also, yay, Mikko's clean vocals are placed far better in the mix than in New Moon. I can actually hear them! Holy female vocals. I can already tell this album is gonna be great. And the metal is as crisp as ever. 4:43. Hnng. Dammit Mikko, why are you so awesome?
Check out my mate's band guys
Fact they have a music video at all is a big plus. The fact the video isn't recorded on a handy cam is even better. The fact it's high quality is better yet. Seems very professional. Which one is your mate? Also, is Cannibal Corpse a major influence? Because I hear a lot of it. I wouldn't really call it "melodic" death metal, though. Short of the solos, there's not much in the way of melody. I'd say their band is far closer to simply "death metal" than "melodic." Not bad, though.

I also thought that as well, although they are sometimes referred to as 'Doom Metal'. They're really big in the metal music community for New Zealand and they are starting to get recognized internationally.
I listen to a lot of doom metal, and that is not doom. It's awesome, though.

Sup guys. I implore you to give it a listen. Apart from the fucking amazing intro (I love the power in those drums), the riffs are pretty fucking awesome, too.
I've noticed it's just you and Herr Sven posting content and me drooling over it. I'm ok with this
If you look through the thread history, a good portion of it is Herr Sven and I bouncing content between the two of us, usually with small bursts of content from other users. Herr Sven has probably been the most consistent poster of content here, seeing as I haven't had a chance to look for more music until tonight. So far, that Leviathan album is the only thing that's really stuck out to me. I found a nice EP, but it only had three tracks on it, so I decided against getting it. Other than that, I've found a few nice-sounding, though decidedly generic bands. Though the song I am listening to right now, if not exactly catching my attention away from writing this post, at least has a very thick chunk to the guitars, and the vocal melodies are more than just monotone shouts. Swallow the Sun and Barren Earth, hurry up already. Oh, Opeth, you can make another Blackwater Park-esque album, too. I would be okay if you did that. I'd prefer if you stayed away from another Heritage, though; wasn't quite my cup of tea. [editline]Fish[/editline] Fucking. The song I just listened to is also part of a three-song EP. :v: [editline]Fish[/editline] And more generic. Fuck it. I'm going to bed. In the morning, I shall scour Metal Encyclopaedia for bands that fuse power and death metal in some way. Simply because that's possibly the only fusion of death I haven't searched for yet. [editline]7th January 2012[/editline] Okay, this is just killing me. I randomly remembered an industrial band I found about a year ago. I know I posted it on Facebook when I found it, but unfortunately Facebook's archives apparently only go back about 6 months. I'm fairly certain I posted it here as well, but I can't find it through search. The band was a Russian band, whose name started with an "X". The cover for the album art, which was the video was for the song (YouTube) was that of a flaming disco ball. The band played a very bizarre mix of melodic death metal with disco/dance, and the vocals alternated between deep death grunts and a really annoying, high-pitched J-Pop female singer. If anyone can find this band for me, I will love you long time. I'm not holding my breath though.
This? [editline]7th January 2012[/editline] It fits all the description you gave
Yes. That's it. Exactly. I even think that's the song I was thinking of. I thought the name was "Xeon" or "Xenon". I was close, since the name is a play on it, being xe-NONE. :v:
Bringing you some melodic dark/death: Soulfallen! Also: "Revolt III" by Swedish indie rock band Kent, as covered by Souldrainer. It's awesome!
So everyone forgot about this thread, or? Anyway. Bumping the thread up with the new Eluveitie album, Helvetios! Here's the two videos for you lot. A Rose For Epona (And by "Epona" they're referring to the Gallo-Roman fertility goddess and guardian of horses, not the horse from the Zelda games.) Havoc
How did this fall to the fifth page? Anyway, turns out that Paths of Possession is awesome.
IT LIVES New Barren Earth: New In Mourning (only song on YouTube from the new album): New Infinite Tales: I would post new Fractal Gates, but they haven't posted any material from their new album. They're being very hush-hush about it; all we know is the fact it's pretty much done and just waiting to be printed. :v:
I have no idea if these have already been posted, but here's 3 of my favourites: Tbh anything with Petri Lindroos, Christian Alvestam, and Jari Maenpaa is considered godlike in my head.
