Hmm, there's not so many great places here, I tend to flit between HMV on Princes Street, Avalanche on Cockburn Street and Coda Music which is on The Mound. Black Rose is a pub so it's pretty much pub rules, no bouncers but they'd normally ID for alcohol, I think any ages are allowed in before 7 though Also, EPIC THREAD DERAIL :buddy:
At least it's still on the topic of metal :v: I'll try out those. I go to the HMV in Ocean Terminal mostly, since my dad lives in Leith and I can just walk (which is very useful :v:) so I dunno, maybe they'll have different stock.
The one up Princes Street is better than the one in Ocean Terminal definitely, still not amazing though :/
In Flames needs it's lineup from The Jester Race again [editline]01:03AM[/editline] Bjorn needs to go back on drums and Jesper and Glenn need to come back

awesome Eluveitie are gonna be in Glasgow in November. Supporting DevilDriver. Going for Eluveitie, but DevilDriver are good too. 36 Crazyfists are also supporting. Don't like them :v:

Massive agree.
Metalcore bands should ALWAYS open for Melodic Death Metal Bands.
Metalcore bands should ALWAYS open for Melodic Death Metal Bands.
Instead it's whoever is the most popular that has all the supporting bands.
Oh. :downs:
Not fair :c DevilDriver are good though, they're more melodeath/groove than metalcore really.
Hmm, When I was watching a Dark Tranquility video, I learned that they were opening for The Devil Wears Prada :smith:
Hmm, When I was watching a Dark Tranquility video, I learned that they were opening for The Devil Wears Prada :smith:
What the fucking fuck?! :psyboom: [editline]01:20PM[/editline]
Not fair :c DevilDriver are good though, they're more melodeath/groove than metalcore really.
Ya. But Eluveitie are gods.
Why do all the awesome bands open for mediocre>shit bands? :saddowns: Why don't the shitcore bands open for the best bands in the world Infact why don't other brilliant bands open for brilliant bands metalcore shouldn't be involved.
Hmm, When I was watching a Dark Tranquility video, I learned that they were opening for The Devil Wears Prada :smith:
why would DT degrade themselves like this it's not as if the average TDWP fan will appreciate them
They'll probably boo them But then again I guess it's safer this way.TDWP would be slaughtered/fans would be slaughtered if they supported Dark Tranquillity :v: But then this situation wouldn't happen because melodeath bands would have GOOD support.
why would DT degrade themselves like this it's not as if the average TDWP fan will appreciate them
Unless they play so damn awesome they convert all those TDWP fans into melodeath loves who share the same opinion as us.
King Crimson supported Tool. Quite frankly even though I like both bands, that's an absolute farce
They'll probably boo them
It's funny, I had that exact same thought
Either they'll boo them, or people will be like "HOLY SHIT FUCK YES GTFO TDWP WE WANT MORE DT" and they are melodeath fans from then on :3:

Hey Dopey Trout, what kind of music does The Mission actually play? Infact what do they all play Like what genres of the music? Because it's all very, very vague.

This thread is great. I can now say I enjoy this genre. But since, I haven't completely grown accustomed to the genre, I've started with the basics In Flames At The Gates Children of Bodom and because I'm not completely ignorant, If I enjoy it enough I won't stop at those three.
Because in America, most kids don't know what Melodeath is.
True. I was about to say that the only good thing to come from America in metal was thrash but Venom. They're British. What actually HAVE America started in metal? Like, really. Serious question. Obviously there are good american bands, but all that I can think of is groove metal and metalcore. And groove is more of an unbrella term than an actual genre. Industrial metal too What else? America haven't really been huge on metal, really. The big four sure but they didn't actually "create" anything. Influential though. [editline]05:02AM[/editline]
This thread is great. I can now say I enjoy this genre. It's p much all the bands I know. Most of the big ones, and some great smaller ones as well.

America had a pretty big thrash metal scene (which might have technically originated from there), and glam metal (also American) and traditional heavy metal was once quite popular. Other than that, not much else was/is big there. What's "big" now in the US is probably stuff like nu-metal and metalcore.
Yeah. Europe, specifically Scandanavia and Germany (And of course, the UK) are the main places of metal in the world. Scandanavia because of the masses of bands and the many subgenres and stuff which has come from there. Germany's huge on power and thrash, the UK basically invented metal (although it's not a big thing here any more, which is a real shame) Also... is your avatar Mikael Akerfeldt? :v: I've always wondered. Not sure who it is.
Though you forgot the origins of Death Metal.
The europeans pull it off better than many of the American death metal bands though.
