Comics because its far easy to read left to right than right to up than down and right and left.
As much as I immensely enjoyed Yotsuba, I choose US comics because I feel like a total homo reading manga.
I like both. But I usually prefer manga.
Not american comics particularily but western comics way over manga.
Reading is for pussies. But if I had to choose one... Comics.
I like both but I prefer American comics because it has deadpool
I hate American cartoons. I don't hate Euro cartoons. I like Japanese cartoons.
I would have to say American Comics, because I've never seen them turn people into annoying fucks bantering in foreign languages and abolishing their own culture.
Comics, i read them all the day.
Apparently, you haven't actually read/seen any decent manga that is not part of the overused mainstream titles such as lucky star.
Yeah, some manga is pretty awesome.
Plus If you read American comics there is more of a chance of people saying oooh, can I see that! instead of calling you a faggot.
Spider Jerusalem is angered by those who think Manga is superior.
But what if I like both? Manga is great for some light reading and some hilarious mindfuck stuff (lol Kago). Western comics tend to be grittier and more down to earth, but also require me to get more engaged with them. Just as entertaining as Manga though. [editline]06:26PM[/editline] Gonna vote Manga because I've probably read more Manga than Western, even though the little Western stuff I've read is probably 'better' than the Manga.
Hot women are hotter in american comics than in japanese manga. American comics win
comics, manga is stoopid
Scratch that I like web comics better.
I like both, but voted Comics as I read way more comics than manga. There are very few mangas that I have found funny, but Lupin the Third was great: It about a thief and a few friend who travel the world stealing shit, its funny and entertaining. As far as american comics for funny Id go with the tick. the tick is a hilarious comic, and unlike the cartoon/tv show, aimed at more adult audiences (although not always, depends on the series). He's an escapee from a mental institution who decides it's his destiny to fight crime with his former-accountant side-kick Aurthur. I'd agree with the the previous poster sandman is great. Another I really liked was Johnny the homicidal maniac/squee: Its about Nny, a killer, and is about dealing with life and the evils of sleep. it goes into discussions of human nature and many other things. It by Jhonen Vasquez the man behind invader zim, but its nowhere near as child friendly.
i think they are both very cool but i have to go with manga because it is more fasnateing to me lol (im not good at spelling)

Some manga is pretty good, but for the most part I much prefer American comics, aside from Grant Morrison who is a fucking plague on DC.

Manga.
The way I see it Manga is quantity over quality when it comes to series while American comics have a comfortable semi-consistency throughout. As for one-off comics I find them both hit an miss, But you have to admit that the American comics are funnier while the mangas are on average more violently gory. As for you facepunchers, You're trying to compare this: With this:
Well I'm more inclined to say western comics, since I'm familiar with plenty of "funnies" strips, webcomics, and series like in Marvel and DC. I might have a more well-formed opinion of manga if I'd read more than like 2-3. Serious manga like Uzumaki is pretty cool when it doesn't go over-the-top (which, admittedly, Uzumaki does somewhat by the end) but the "comedic" manga I've seen just gives me a strong impression that the Japanese sense of humor is really different.
manga and anime makes everything better :D
Manga has more detail IMO. those artists really have complete skill and passion. I'm not saying american comics are horribly drawn, they're good. Just that some manga have awesome detailing. Manga can sometimes also have better story. Gonna say neither, as that would make me pick a side and i cannot as i read both atm.

Unlike American comics some comics don't even have that good detail even with color.
I can not pick any one of them. If I want action and bad jokes I choose western comics, if I need a break with humor or a deep, thought-through story line, I choose eastern comics. Usually, though, mangas with humor do NOT have deep, thought-through storyline (Yotsuba&! vs. for example Bleach (which I haven't read)). I'd say I prefer manga because it's over-the-top and not as constrained to real-world rules as western comics (inb4 Superman). Western comics do not have the same narrative finesse as many manga artist manage, but they do sometimes manage to substitute it with hardcore action. The focal point in that sentence being "sometimes". But I enjoy both, and as such I can not pick a side. Mostly because of Deadpool.
Both ways... I like American Comics, but I somehow find them over justified towards propaganda. I like Manga, but the abscure usage of preteen girls as sex tools seemingly annoys the shit out of me... If anything I prefer webcomics.
