It's simple. Post 'Funny' Images. Videos are ok, too, so long as they're FUNNY. No complaining, no bitching. Normal FP rules apply. No gore, distasteful, racist, STUFF YOU WOULDN'T POST IN FRONT OF THE MOD TEAM, etc No OFFTOPIC. This isn't a thread for discussing video games you like/hate or something you really liked when you were younger. This also means it's not a thread for cool cosplay pictures or for showing of some neat artwork or pictures of adorable pets. There are other threads for that, USE THEM. Funny pics here, random shit that I listed can go here and video game discussion goes here Only report stuff that breaks these rules (reposting is not a valid report reason), we ban for dumb reports (like reporting a moderator for laughs please don't do this thanks). We have about half the mod team regularly reading this thread. Don't panic! Doing anything other than posting 'funny' images and commenting on images is a bad idea, and bad stuff happens. Yeah I guess that's easy to understand. PM craptasket if you don't. A screening with unfinished FX was just held for the film on June 14th. It's crazy to think people are watching this movie almost a full year before it's out, but there you go. On the plus side, we now have the official film synopsis
In the year 2159 two classes of people exist: the very wealthy who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth. Secretary Rhodes (Jodie Foster), a hard line government official, will stop at nothing to enforce anti-immigration laws and preserve the luxurious lifestyle of the citizens of Elysium. That doesn’t stop the people of Earth from trying to get in, by any means they can. When unlucky Max (Matt Damon) is backed into a corner, he agrees to take on a daunting mission that if successful will not only save his life, but could bring equality to these polarized worlds.
Incoming social commentary about income inequality.
$120m budget phwoooaarrr
I hope this is good, I loved District 9.

But knowing that Blomkamp is directing is enough for me to keep it in good faith that it will be worth it.
I loved District 9. Shame they're not making a sequel to it but damn this should more than make up for it.
"Unlucky Max?" Hmm... anyone else feeling a Max Payne vibe, or have I just been playing too much Max Payne 3?
$120m budget phwoooaarrr
Blomkamp now has 90 more million dollars to dick around with, which is why its probably taking another year to finish.

Chem trail
Is that a powered exoskeleton?
So he has a broken/hurt arm and fixed it with an exoskeleton? Fucking badass.
Have they said what Sharlto Copley's role in this?
You sure like movies and making threads about them, postal! I will keep my eye on this, I didn't find District 9 to be amazing or anything, but it was definitely one of the better films of the year, so this has great potential. The Marine 3.
Whoops wrong thread
Well this is starting to look like a must watch movie.

Elysium is at comic-con click here to read the brochure: http://collider.com/wp-content/uploads/elysium-viral-comic-con.jpg http://collider.com/wp-content/uploads/elysium-comic-con.jpg [editline]12th July 2012[/editline] a better look at the pics around the base of the thing http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/nailbiter111/news/?a=63572 [editline]12th July 2012[/editline] It's pretty interesting to see the similarities between this and halo, considering Neil Blomkamp worked his ass off trying to make a halo movies ages ago. [editline]12th July 2012[/editline] Their big presentation and footage reveal has yet to happen. I don't think we'll get to see the footage, though. Unless someone sneaks a camera in. [editline]12th July 2012[/editline] The presentation will happen Friday 4:35-6:35 PDT "Ever since writer-director Neill Blomkamp broke through with his first feature film, District 9, people have been wondering what he has in store for an encore. Be a part of the first audience anywhere to get a first look at his new movie, Elysium, as stars Matt Damon and Jodie Foster join Neill and producer Simon Kinberg on stage." Someone's bound to sneak a camera in there. As long as they don't post the video on YouTube under a blatantly obvious name.
Holy shit it does look like some resort company got their hands on a Halo ring. I love it.
Neil (the director) spent ages trying to make that Halo movie before it all fell apart. Maybe it's just the angle of that concept art drawing but it feels like maybe some of the ideas from that failed project were re-purposed for this. Such a loss that it fell apart but whatever, what he's made since more than makes up for it
http://www.movies.com/movie-news/elysium-comic-con/8754?wssac=164&wssaffid=news
-- Think Mad Max meets WALL-E, with a hard-R rating that includes tons of cursing, blood, violence and plenty of scenes involving people exploding. -- The 7 minutes of footage we were shown was explosive and powerful; a true original sci-fi tone that's dark, bleak and creative, especially with its maniacal villain, played by Sharlto Copley. -- Speaking of Copley, his character looks like a homeless badass who wields a sword and ninja-like throwing stars that explode once they hit flesh. -- Some of the film was shot on location in Mexico City inside the world's second largest garbage dump. Needless to say this caused some issues. Not only was the dust in the air all fecal matter, but with a lot of scenes involving helicopters, the actors would end plenty of takes covered from head to toe in, well, "dust". -- Blomkamp brought back a lot of the same crew from District 9 to help create the film, which looks like it was made for a lot more money than it actually was. A lot of credit was given to Blomkamp from the cast, all of whom said he was incredible prepared. -- The hardest stunt on the film involved Matt Damon's stunt guy crawling underneath a cart full of pigs, which were so freaked out that they urinated all over him continuously.
[editline]13th July 2012[/editline] Well then, apparently Sharlto Copley is the bad guy. [editline]13th July 2012[/editline] Right so Sharlto Copley plays a super assassin sent by Jodie Foster to kill Matt Damon. I am so fucking pumped for this now
Apparently Copley is supposed to be the most impressive of the lot from the footage they showed. Can't fookin' wait to see him in action.
Sharlto Copely as a villian? This is exciting.

So has the comic con footage been leaked yet?
