The viral Armadyne website has finally been updated with more information about the universe of the film: http://armadyne.net/ A new website has gone up detailing special screenings of footage (either trailer or the comic-con footage) of the film www.welcometoelysium.com
I really hope we'll get a trailer on next week, I want to see any footage so bad.
New images released:
Is that Alice Braga in the top picture?
Looks it. She is in the movie at least. [editline]5th April 2013[/editline] 3 days to go until the screenings of Elysium footage/trailers. I'd be keeping in eye on youtube that night, someone is bound to upload some shaky cam footage of it.

[editline]7th April 2013[/editline] Also I am fucking super hyped as fuck for a trailer for this movie. District 9 was probably my favorite cinema surprise I have ever seen in theaters. I went in expecting a meh-decent sci-fi movie and came out with a new look on alien species in general.
Sharlto Copley posted on his facebook that the trailer for Elysium will launch tomorrow. He seems to just be referring to the special screenings going on that day, though. From what I'm seeing, it looks like they'll be talking about the film first, and then showing off just the trailer. Since there's no way they'd wait very long after showing the trailer to release it to everyone, it seems like it could be attached with Oblivion next Friday, but we'll find out soon enough. 13 hours and 30 minutes until the first screening. I'm sure someone will upload some shaky cam footage of it so if you really can't wait then I'd keep an eye on youtube after that time. [editline]8th April 2013[/editline] Apparently some random website is claiming the trailer will be online Tuesday. Doesn't give any source or anything but we'll find out tomorrow I guess.
lots of news incoming. The screening started 33 minutes ago. They're currently doing the Q&A. Keep an eye on youtube soon for shaky cams. Also the poster was on display at the screenings: [editline]8th April 2013[/editline] People are claiming it was announced at the event that the trailer goes online Tuesday, April 9 at 4 PM PT / 7 PM ET. [editline]8th April 2013[/editline] yeah confirmed, trailer will drop then. [editline]8th April 2013[/editline] the screening consisted of 10 minutes of footage and the trailer
-snip- Damn it postal you are fast
if you want to spoil it for yourself, the 10 minutes of footage is described here: http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=102594 and twitter reactions to the trailer can be seen here: http://wegotthiscovered.com/movies/reactions-elysium-poster/
Can't wait for the trailer, and from reading about that 10 mins of footage it looks like Matt Damon's character is going to be really likeable and hopefully badass as fuck.
I'm a little annoyed that Elysium doesn't have the same composer as District 9, I love his scores, instead they hired some new guy who hasn't composed much anything. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm3375122/ This tweet gives me hope though. Edit: Apparently it's scored by some trailer music goon who has a fetish for big drums and thick strings, I'm okay with this. 6 hours until showtime. Don't think I'll be around to post it, though.
http://movies.yahoo.com/video/elysium-trailer-200248321.html its showtime yeaaa
English trailer on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oIBtePb-dGY The aspect ratio is über wide and it's all ultra cinematic and shit compared to D9, NOOOOOOOO! In other news; I'll totally see this on day 1.
Now THAT's how you make a trailer. Show just enough to get us interested without spoiling too much of the plot. This looks to kick ass. Can't wait.
Great trailer. Got a heavy district 9 vibe which is great.
There is not a "Shut up and take my money!" image big enough to reflect my current feelings toward this movie. I'm gonna pack myself in the freezer until August.
Oh wow this had been announced back in 2011 but I heard nothing about it back then, I loved District 9 and this looks very good, plus I love how Neil went from making little shorts to full-fledged films, good for him, he deserves it.
just saw the trailer sold.
Yet ANOTHER viral site has gone live, fucking hell. This one specializes on the weapons, robots, and cars of the film: www.civilcooperationbureau.com
Was optimistic just knowing that it was more Sci-fi from Blomkamp and now that I've seen the trailer I'm mega fucking pumped. In a perfect world, maybe this will inspire him to finally give us a sequel (or prequel even) to District 9 in some way.
He's planning district 10 or whatever he'll call it, but after he finishes this he's starting on his scifi comedy chappie. After that, assuming he doesn't do Star Wars or something, then yeah it's pretty likely we could get district 10.
I wonder whether District 9 and this movie are somehow connected. That destroyed Earth is really similar.
They're not. Also new pictures: And the director on set
Yet ANOTHER viral site has gone live, fucking hell. This one specializes on the weapons, robots, and cars of the film: www.civilcooperationbureau.com
I love the design of those robots. They look like something DARPA could be developing in 10 years.
So in the future, the tattoo business will flourish.
I love the design of those robots. They look like something DARPA could be developing in 10 years.
all the sci-fi stuff in p much everything Blomkamp's made so far has been somehow... uh, realistic? i dunno if that's the word, but all the techy stuff just looks so functional and plausible i love that
I love the design of those robots. They look like something DARPA could be developing in 10 years.
Or something DARPA will be developing in 4 months when their directors see the movie.
I wonder whether District 9 and this movie are somehow connected. That destroyed Earth is really similar.
That's because it was South Africa again.
