children of men, def
Silent Hill, Resident Evil, LOTR series, Men In Black [editline]9th March 2012[/editline] Battlestar Galactica
children of men, def
I always wanted to watch that movie, thanks for reminding me. I'm gonna get on that right now.
12 Angry Men The Conversation Ikiru Le Samourai Bob Dylan: No Direction Home Taxi Driver Lost in Translation A Separation Barton Fink (new addition) The Gold Rush and Apocalypse Now.... ....REDUX [editline]9th March 2012[/editline] technically also Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Godfather.. but probably because I'm addicted to watching them rather than gaining a great experience in the other sense.
Andrei Tarkovskiy's Stalker (1979) An experience movie. Basically a story of 3 men who go to a mysterious place called 'The Zone'. It's full of incredibly weird stuff and at first you don't even know if any of the stuff is just their imagination or reality. Its an incredibly slow paced movie, but the atmosphere is incredible and I was just sucked into it. I would tell you more, but it's better if you see it yourself.
I love this movie.
The Assassination of Jesse James The Proposition There Will be Blood Dollars trilogy I think I'm a bit of a western fan.
Dollars trilogy
Also Unforgiven.
Silent Running. The script is just so unlikely to make it into production. Would be pretty much impossible to get a budget for this movie today. But it turned out so good. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0067756/
The Princess Bride While not the best movie I've ever seen it's still my favorite.
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring
The fuck, what's wrong with the rest of the trilogy?
The fuck, what's wrong with the rest of the trilogy?
Nothing, but Fellowship is definitely the best out of the three (in his and my opinion).
Man, I just watched Behind the Mask: The rise of Leslie Vernon again, and now I've realized how much I love that movie.
That movie was surprisingly good, I did not except that, same with Tucker and Dale vs Evil.
When I first watched it I actually thought Leslie Vernon was from a different movie that I had never heard of.
Nothing, but Fellowship is definitely the best out of the three (in his and my opinion).
The LoTR 11.5 hour version is my favorite. It's the first time i've seen a big-budget studio funded film come out on the other side, integrity and original vision intact/improved. Fight Club is another one. It really is a movie that spends over an hour making you want to leave everything behind to just dare something for once... only to take it back again. But really. Favourite movies? I don't know. There are so many epic movies out there and i haven't really got an attachment to any of them the way i do to some games... So if i just said "The Room" and "Napoleon Dynamite"? [editline]13th March 2012[/editline] The Social Network!!! [editline]13th March 2012[/editline]
Fellowship is just my favorite of the three, that's all. Return of the King comes in a close second, but in the end, I've seen Fellowship the most times. It's one of the few 3-4 hour movies I could watch about twice a year and enjoy it as equally as much each time. In my opinion it's the perfect fantasy movie.
Everybody wants to live in Hobbitton. The Mood in the dark scenes between Gandalf and Frodo also catch the book absolutely 100% spot on. Only part that FELT exactly how it read in the book. This is a messy post. But maybe This or this Are strong candidates too.
most impeccable script ever written. as a screenwriting major, i find it hard not to love the shit out of it to an intense degree

A workprint copy?
What's the 11.5 hour version? A workprint copy?
The Lord of The Rings Special Extended Edition is an 11.5 hour movie.
I don't have a top favorite, but some of my favorite movies are: In Bruges - pretty unique The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo - awesome and really intense Star Wars, Episode 5: The Empire Strikes Back - easily the best one out of the series The Lord of The Rings trilogy - much better when you watch all of them The Bourne Ultimatum - the first two were fairly good, this one was 100x better The Back to the Future trilogy - classics O Pagador de Promessas (1962 Brazilian movie) - I really have no idea why, but I love this one Tropa de Elite 2 (Elite Squad 2, another Brazilian movie) - it's always great seeing good movies from my country
The Lord of The Rings Special Extended Edition is an 11.5 hour movie.
Oh, you just mean the extended editions played all at once.
Still my favourite film today, just a masterpiece in all elements. "My name is Maximus Decimus Meridius, commander of the Armies of the North, General of the Felix Legions, loyal servant to the true emperor, Marcus Aurelius. Father to a murdered son, husband to a murdered wife. And I will have my vengeance, in this life or the next."
Jurassic Park Star Wars Close Encounter of the Third Kind (70's) 2001: A Space Odyssey Back to the Future Trilogy Terminator 2: Judgement Day Lord of the Rings Trilogy. The Mummy Rise of the Planet of the Apes. No particular order.
Magnolia (Number one favourite) There Will Be Blood Boogie Nights Blade Runner The Good, the Bad and the Ugly No order, except that Magnolia is my favourite of all time.

Inception
magnolia over twbb? twbb is pretty much perfect tbh, while I thought magnolia was great I find twbb to be a better showcase of PTA's directing and writing abilities
Because Magnolia is more emotionally engaging to me, I do find There Will Be Blood to be an incredible film though.
I watched Pulp Fiction AND The Shining for the first time TODAY
magnolia over twbb? twbb is pretty much perfect tbh, while I thought magnolia was great I find twbb to be a better showcase of PTA's directing and writing abilities
Magnolia is a brilliant movie, imo. It's always engaging, imo it's in the same line as Requiem for a Dream but polar opposite in effect.
Saving Private Ryan.
Fight Club - Makes me want to quit life and join a gang of underground terrorists, it takes a special kind of movie to do that. Identity- Everyone I know hates it, but I thought it was great. The Usual Suspects - The ending is what really made this film for me. Oh god! The Truman Show - My favourite Jim Carrey movie. It's both funny and packed full of drama. Dr Strangelove - One of the few old black and white movies that I love. Amazing for its time Four Lions - Hands down the funniest movie I have ever seen. Toy Story - Classic kids animation that even adults can enjoy. So many nostalgic memories. Anything by Christopher Nolan - Nothing more has to be said about this, the man is a god.
